AC 360 still on at 8 Eastern, so it looks like Town Hall will be what is normally the second hour of AC360.
This also explains why this rally is at 4:00, which seemed an odd time.
Ryan wants to be seen as the white knight who saved the gope by slaying the evil Trumpasaurus. You can bet he has his papers ready to file at a moments notice.
oh I thought the deadline was passed.. but I guess it was just wishful thinking?
Good morning, ladies!
We were talking about stuffed cabbage rolls yesterday (our family calls them Holubky). I added lysie as I noticed up thread she’s on the cooking thread.
I did a search on bing.com and there are a TON of recipes out there with pictures and links on this search page to other similar searches:
http://www.bing.com/search?q=hungarian+cabbage+rolls+with+sauerkraut&src=IE-SearchBox&FORM=IESR02
I didn’t have time to go through all of them, but here’s a couple that might be of interest:
http://zsuzsaisinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2011/08/cabbage-rolls-toltott-kaposzta.html
http://www.cooks.com/recipe/4s1jp3es/hungarian-stuffed-cabbage-rolls.html
A couple ones I looked at included using pork pieces, etc. I don’t remember my aunt’s being that way, though it’s been years since I’ve had them. I seem to recall hers being the same way we made ours, only using sauerkraut instead of tomatoes.
Here’s how I make mine:
Cabbage leaves steamed, so they can be separated
3/4 ground chuck (or lean hamburger) to about 1/4 ground pork
rice (I don’t cook mine first)
Lots of garlic powder
Onion powder
Paprika
Mix the above (except for cabbage)
Put about 1-2 Tbsp of meat mix (depending on size of leaf)in cabbage leaf and roll
Large cans of whole (chopped) or chopped tomatoes and juice from same
Onions - I can’t put chopped onions in the rolls b/c my sister can’t eat them, so put large slices in the pot with the tomatoes
Chopped cabbage or cabbage leaves on bottom of pot, tomatoes (more garlic powder, cabbage rolls, and keep layering with tomatoes and cabbage rolls. End with some cabbage leave on top.
I use bay leaves in a lot of things, especially tomato- based things - my family didn’t include these, but I always add a few. Add a little vinegar to tomato base. Use 1-2 small cans of tomato sauce in it, too.
My family has always cooked these on the stovetop, but my aunt started doing it a bit differently and uses a single layer of the rolls in a pyrex dish in the oven. Because I also serve a large ham (Kirkland Signature honey-baked, spiral cut from Costco - the best!) with these on Christmas Eve, I use the stovetop for min.
I’m typing the recipe off the top of my head and I think it’s right, but let me know if something looks screwy.
this is mind boggling..
yes we see this on the movies all the time ... thank you CGI... and it is amazing... Like in Revenant
when you are in the boats at the base of the falls, you are in wonder anyone could survive.
that is one thrill I think Ill pass in this lifetime. Whitewater class 4 is plenty for me
Compared to the other talking heads, Cooper has done a great job. Very respectful. I never watched him before....because he was Anderson Cooper.
The gope is always saying that the rules can be changed at the convention, so I’m guessing that Ryan can still get in. Before Walker endorsed Cruz, he had said that the nominee will probably be someone who isn’t even currently running.
They don’t call you 1OldPro for nothing.
<<< <> >>> “The GOPe is playing with fire here - screw Trump and lose the senate and house. That is what is getting their attention - remember, they’re incumbents first - the party doesn’t matter.” <<< <> >>>
Excellent analysis.
FWIW- I’m a has-been.
The ol’ saying goes-
It’s better to be a has been than a never was. ;0)
This sounds marvelous.. Haven’t made it for years. Used to make it for mom about once a month til her death in 2010.
I WILL try your recipe. going to save it in a Notes file NOW. Ill probable use fresh or bottled minced garlic and brown rice. Starting to use coarse Pink Himalayan salt for all cooking and eating. Maybe a touch of Texas Pete (I DID live in Houston at one time, after all)
My mom always bought her sauerkraut in the bags, not cans. I have done the same. I have a great friend in OKC who ferments a LOT of veggies, including cabbage.. I have never done this due to circumstances. I see the wisdom of introducing this component to ones regular diet
I will do this as soon as I can.. will substitute soy crumbles (yes, I KNOW- I KNOW) so that I can eat it.
Cruz was on Hannity radio Monday April 4th and said he will not drop out even if he cant get 1237. Hannity pushed him on it, saying you have said Kasich should drop out. “Why is it different”. And Lyin Ted replied, If Donald is the nominee, Hillary wins.
So it is about #nevertrump...nothing else
I am considering shifting my postcard mailings to the RNC HQ’s.

Cooper is a fellow New Yorker.
He’s seen Donald in action for years and is used to the New York persona - blunt, brash and yet some softness underneath the exterior.
An aside.. wondering if this would work in crock pot/slow cooker. Guess the big difference would be the piled on food, rather than aesthetically placed in pyrex 8X13
I really loved the discussion the other day on the fast/steam crock pot like appliance. I have never heard of it prior. Would like one eventually. Went to the Amazon listing on them and noted the various sizes and all they could do. I use my rice cooker A LOT.. for more than rice..
And the discussion on Teflon.. good info .. I went back to the Facebook Recipe/entertaining group and noted I had posted the end of March an article on the downside health wise of teflon coated pans
Yes, it does.

Cruz campaign called me in CA. I just gave them hell.
Yes, I definitely think it would work in a crock pot/slow cooker. I don’t have a crockpot, so I’m guessing that it might take a bit more time than on stovetop. For the stovetop, I bring the tomatoes (juice part) to a low boil over medium heat, then turn it down to low simmer. Usually cook for 2-3 hours, sometimes more.
I was also interested in that new pot a few were talking about the other day - sounds like a great kitchen appliance! My mom had one of the old stovetop pressure cookers with the thermometer thingy on top - I was always a bit afraid of it as I heard stories of how they could blow.
Perfect!!
Thank you so much for the Trump town hall time/info :-)
Thanks for the heads up! I rarely watch AC or CNN and didn’t know about this.
This should be good. I think AC has primarily been fair to Trump in the past.
Checked my CNN schedule - AC is on here in 2 separate 2 hour segments starting at 5 my time. According to what I found on CNN (see link below), the one he did with the Kasich family last night started at 9 ET, so it looks like it might start in the 2nd segment (6 PDT for Kit cat and me).
Thanks so much for the recipe and the links. I had started a search, but haven’t had time to go through all.
This will be a great recipe for my multicooker.
Pinging MS Behavin, as she and I have the same appliance ;-)
