Trump's New Right-Hand Man Accuses Cruz Campaign of 'Gestapo Tactics'
NBC News ^ | 04/10/2016 | SHAWNA THOMAS and ALI VITALI

Posted on 04/10/2016 10:13:55 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

In his first Sunday show interview since taking on an expanded role in Donald Trump's campaign, Paul Manafort was quick to raise questions about the tactics Sen. Ted Cruz' campaign is using to secure delegates.

After being asked whether threatening delegates is fair game in the hunt for the 1237 required to secure the republican nomination, Manafort responded, "It's not my style, and it's not Donald Trump's style … But it is Ted Cruz's style." He then called the Cruz campaign's methods "Gestapo tactics, scorched-earth tactics."

"We're going to be filing several protests because reality is, you know, they are not playing by the rules," Manafort said.

But Manafort, who has advised republican presidential campaigns going back to Pres. Gerald Ford, would not outline the rules he is playing by either. When pressed on whether paying for a delegate's golf membership or trip to the convention was in the realm possibility he answered, "Well, there's the law, and then there's ethics, and then there's getting votes. I'm not going to get into what tactics are used."

Yeah, hiring someone who knows what he’s doing was overdue.

reason being that the public will come to view Cruz as not electable.

That’s going to be a darn high hill for Manafort to be able to drag Mr. Negative Polls Trump to the top of. But of course, who knows, Manafort really could be reincarnate Merlin. Sounds more like he’s read too much Art of the deal or is polishing the apple he’s pushing to Trump.

Saw this scary guy with F. Chuck Todd this morning...my first impression was that he was a Capo from the Cosa Nostra, dark silk suit with medium blue pinstripes...every hair in place...spit polished like Paulie Walnuts without the silver hair wings...Manafort must use the same tailor as another Trump hatchet man, Roger Stone!

Trump’s bringing in an “operative” who looks like a guy who knows guys who break knee-caps! He sounded like a ruthless, win-at-any-cost, enforcer...delegates may have a clear choice in Cleveland, bribes or threats!

Given the average age, wealth and background of national delegates, bribes and threats won’t get anyone very far, especially not this cycle.

In case no one noticed, the GOP at the lowest levels and even at the state level has mostly gotten more conservative in the last eight years, and that will be reflected in the delegates.

Not mafia, they're mainstream Republican guys. Both have worked for mainstream Republican candidates from Reagan to Dole. The differ only in that Manafort worked for GWB, not sure if Stone did. And Stone claims to have worked for Nixon though he seems a bit young. With no military service in his bio, doubt he's saying he worked for Nixon they way I did.

If Trump is going to win anything, he needs people who understand the system.

You have to fight fire with fire. SO, you admit that Cruz has been a douche bag? And, now that Trump has hired someone to fight this lying, cheating, stealing, slime ball - it’s all bad for Trump? You people are pathetic.

Trump is paying with his own money! Not the elitists money.

Not really...he is taking donations and he is loaning his campaign money which will be repaid by donation...so yea the elitist will be paying

Those are small donations from his supporters. No loans like Ted’s. Donald Jr even talked about spending 100 million on the campiagn.

Actually it was your Mr. Trump that was poisoning the well. Is Sen Cruz the Antichrist...probably not. Is he Goebbels? Doubt it. Is he a politician? Certainly. Was Sen Cruz so much more aware of the rules of the game that Trump looked like a fool when he finally HIRED SOMEONE to play by the well established rules? Duh. I have notice that the people defending Trump, being unaware of the scope of running for president, demonize everyone that disagrees...demonizing that usually involves exaggeration ad absurdem, does this promise to work out well for you? If you win the nomination will you lose the general by poisoning the well with people that should be your allies?

Or to put it in the same vernacular as some of the more “ardent” Trump fans...

You’re the poopy headed douche bag that lies cheats and steals so there.

To use the word pathetic after what you just said...mirror up, cuz it ain’t pretty.

DK

Sonte didn’t call for anyone “to confront delegates in their motel rooms”.

You don't have any idea what he said. Your knee jerk reaction is to defend no matter what was said. Just for your general knowledge and edification, here is what Stone said:

Only in the fever swamp of your mind could you equate the Cruz campaign calling delegates and asking them to change their vote with this.

did cRuz repudiate that weeotch Liz Mair for the *egregious* FB hit piece ad she posted?

Are you really saying that publishing delegate names and hotel room numbers in an effort to intimidate delegates in their rooms is analogous to whatever it is that Liz Mair posted?

Yeah, sure. Whatever it takes to win, right?
