Of his many outrageous campaign statements, perhaps Donald J. Trump's most important ones concern his hoped-for role as president of the United States.
When told that uniformed personnel would disobey his unlawful order as president to torture prisoners and kill civilians, Trump menacingly replied "They won't refuse. They're not going to refuse, believe me."
Responding to criticism by the speaker of the House, Trump spoke like a Mafia don: "Paul Ryan, I don't know him well, but I'm sure I'm going to get along great with him. And if I don't? He's gonna have to pay a big price." ...
Concerning the media, which he despises, Trump said, "I'm going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money." ...

I’ve usually agreed with Daniel Pipes conservative views, particularly ones that warned Islam poses an existential threat to the USA.
His criticism of Trump is valid in that Trump compulsively talks loud, indiscretely off the cuff, and sounds like a bi-polar dictator at times.
For example, he makes repeated promises to make things “terrific” again “when he’s in charge”.
How? The devil’s in the detail.
He sees America simplistically like one of his business acquisitions that just need stronger CEO management authority and decision-making.
America not only has chronic poor mgmt problems - we also have a Yuge cultural morality problem which isn’t likely to be fixed by a leader who is not humble and overly proud.
Trump = Perot 2.0 if not through intentional deceit, assuredly through character flaw fate.
One could expect nothing different from a scowling “You’re Fired” reality show attention whore.
PS. Let’s not forget Trump took up Perot’s NY Reform party in 1998. That action alone speaks very loudly.
It's called neoconservatism, ie. Trotskyism.
Well I suppose we could argue that all war is immoral, but one unethical act doesn’t excuse others. Dropping a bomb on Hiroshima 80 years ago doesn’t mean that torturing prisoners and recklessly killing civilians is fine in 2016.
Fascism = Anything I personally don’t like or disagree with.
The animus towards Trump continues to be whipped up by all the different voices which are in fact ONE voice.
Think back to the movie ‘The Exorcist’ when the young priest (Father Damien aka Jason Miller) tries to explain to the older priest (Father Merrin, the actual Exorcist played by Max von Sydow) about the different personalities that seem to reside in the young possessed girl, and Father Merrin interrupts him and says “NO, there is only ONE”, for Merrin had already dealt with the demon Pazuzu years before. He already knew who it was he was dealing with.
So it is with the GOPe, the various factions of the political spectrum who deem themselves important, the libtard Trump-hating media, the ‘RATS, it doesn’t matter what ‘voice’ manifests itself, whatever is being uttered comes from the same filthy sewer, it is but ONE personality residing within the deceptively so-called ‘moderate’ wing of the UniParty(c).
And the failure of people (even some FReepers here) to recognize that the same demonic, hydra-headed manifestation (the Bushes, Romneys, Fiorina, Graham, etc) is rearing those ugly heads and endorses and supports Cruz, Trump’s only true opponent. Cruz may well be unaware of the double-cross awaiting him, but that is because he is dealing with a pack of political vipers that have far more experience in back stabbing, dirty dealing and conspiratorial intrigue.
If Trump is stopped, Cruz will be discarded, and the GOPe will have their say, and we will ALL rue the day. Some of us will have seen this coming, others will wail in shock and horror, having never once considered that they, like their trusTed Cruz, were only pawns to be used and exploited to achieve the most dishonorable goal of the GOPe.
yeah, first thing he’ll do is dismiss Congress and disband the supreme court....
PLEZ; suppose I have to add sarc>
Pair Trump with Socialist Sanders or Obama, and you have a national-socialist.
actually sanders and bo would be INTERnational socialists
The establishment are text boolean fascists so calling others that name gives them camouflage. ...or so they think.
None of those statements reflect any kind of neo-fascism.
Fascism is a kind of state-worship.
Does Trump advocate the worship of himself or the state?
No. Not even close.
Unless the phrase “making America great again” is now considered fascist.
The cuckservatives in the GOPe never tire of this “Trump is Hitler” meme.
But it sure gets tiresome.
- ultranationalism - The strong belief that the interests of a particular nation-state are of primary importance. That's a good thing in a country's leader.
- populism - Populism is a political outlook or disposition that appeals to the interests and conceptions (such as hopes and fears) of the general population, especially when contrasting any new collective consciousness to push against the prevailing status quo interests of any predominant political sector. Also, at least sometimes, a good thing.
- anti-immigration policies - Another good thing.
- nativism - a return to or emphasis on traditional or local customs, in opposition to outside influences. Also good.
- anti-communism. Everyone who is not evil is anti-communist.
- anti-Marxism. Everyone who is not evil is anti-Marxist.
- anti-anarchism. Opposing anarchy is also good.
- opposition to the parliamentary system and liberal democracy - Liberal democracy is a political ideology and a form of government in which representative democracy operates under the principles of classical liberalism. It is characterised by fair, free, and competitive elections between multiple distinct political parties, a separation of powers into different branches of government, the rule of law in everyday life as part of an open society, and the equal protection of human rights, civil rights, civil liberties, and political freedoms for all people. Opposition to fair elections, separation of powers, and the rule of law is the only negative on this list.
I was pairing the nationalist (Trump) with the socialists to get hybrid national-socialists.
I’ll step in for this woman against you’re flippant insult.
Her son served in the Iraq war and she likely knows quite a bit about what makes a good leader.
Unwavering character demonstrating honesty, humility, respectability, demonstrating strength through good judgement of when to speak, what to say, and how to act in order to inspire confidence in those you intend on directing toward meeting an objective to sucessfully complete a mission.
A very good leader is not an overly proud, loud, indiscreet attention whore.
It’s ironic that Trump successfully completed military academy since he doesn’t demonstrate many of the leadership quailities he was assuredly taught.
The poor demeanor and temperament Trump shows today would prevent promotion beyond Sgt, yet his supporters want him to serve as Commander-in-chief?
Such low expectations.
RE: “To me, they indicate a character unsuited for political leadership.
That says more about you than Trump.
But hey, thanks for sharing!
At the end of the day.”
He’s not rational enough to be a fascist. He’s simply a leftist big-government populist who thinks he’s gong to emulate Obama and run things by his whims. He don’t need no steenkin system, right? Who cares about the three branches of government - Obama proved that you can completely ignore our 200+ year old success and do whatever crazy dictatorial thing that crosses your mind.
Here is where you can tell that Pipes is a fraud and knows that what he's saying isn't true. Since when is a nation enforcing its borders "fascist" or "neo-fascist"? From the 1920s to the 1960s, the US had limited immigration. Did that make the US fascist? All this is garbage and Pipes knows it. But he's also a Beltway commentariat puppet, and he knows on which side his bread is buttered.
The Romans stood once at this same place that we are at right now. They had a Republic, but they had supposedly insurmountable problems. To get themselves out of their troubled condition they opted for the guy who promised to get rid of their problems for them - who once he gained power, empowered himself.
The Romans then entered into their dictatorship phase from which they were not able to become great again.
I don’t think Trump is a neo-fascist. He is simply a poorly informed bullshit artist.
If we don’t have someone strong step in, the country is lost.
As far as I’m concerned, anyone who doesn’t want that strong leadership, who wants another spineless wimp that’s just going to continue the destruction of the country, is part of the problem.
