I think Reuters intended this as a negative piece about Cruz. Their criticism strikes me as more of an endorsement.

As opposed to Trump’s comments which have healed relations with Mexico.....

Ted says this is the case he is most proud of. None other than his BBF at the time, Justice Roberts, wrote the opinion.

Cruz picks and chooses at will.

And if I remember correctly, he had more losses than wins.

We all cheered this decision very loudly. I had never heard of Cruz at the time but am very thankful for all the cases he has fought for we the little guys at SCOTUS.

Successfully arguing in the Supreme Court to execute an evil murderer is one of the things I like most about Cruz.

It doesn’t appear to me that hurting U.S. - Mexico relations is a negative in this campaign.

The same story published at RawStory, but with a more inflammatory title: A look back at Ted Cruz’s successful legal crusade to execute a Mexican man in Texas

"legal crusade to execute a Mexican man in Texas" -- how leftists viewed a defense of Texas state sovereignty against subjugation to an international kangaroo court.

So? This is not a negative.

Exactly! Go to www.oyez.org and listen to the actual oral arguments.

The man is simply brilliant and it is obvious that Justice Scalia understands early on that he needed absolutely no help to skewer the liberal jurists attempts to ACKNOWLEDGE AND ENCOURAGE THE USA’s PARTICIPATION AND ACQUIESCENCE TO THE UN’s WORLD COURT

They say that as if it is a bad thing.

We should have such bad relations with Mexico that millions of them refuse to migrate here, and millions of them leave here to go back home..

Exactly. That’s what principled conservatives do: Do what’s right, regardless of the political consequences.

Why does Mexico have a problem with us killing murders in jail after a court process when they have people shot dead all over the place at home who are INNOCENT in their streets?
Maybe tend to their own garden weeds before worrying about ours.

The government of Mexico and Mexicans in general have been ripping of the US for the past hundred years.

Mexico makes up an irrational reason to be mad at the USA, and it’s Ted Cruz’ fault?

The people would buy the argument need to grow up and behave like adults.

Alcocer praised Cruz as intelligent and pragmatic but said the senator was too inflexible on issues like immigration and the death penalty. “Cruz takes certain positions that are very clearly defined. And he's much more conservative, much more dogmatic than Trump,"

And that just about seals the deal for me.
