Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz often tells supporters about his Supreme Court win against the federal government in 2008, defending Texas' right to execute a Mexican man for murder, as evidence of his conservative and anti-establishment credentials.
But there is one part of the story that goes untold. The Medellin v. Texas case, decided when Cruz was the state's solicitor general, set the stage for years of diplomatic tension between the United States and its southern neighbor.

F*** Mexico.
As opposed to Trump’s comments which have healed relations with Mexico.....
Cruz picks and chooses at will.
And if I remember correctly, he had more losses than wins.
on a steek
How will Cruz handle the GOPe apparent edit that they would back him but he would have to "admit to" Climate Change........taking bets Cruz can't be bought for that lie/scam!
Remember the Climate Change/Global Warming purpose is to kill Capitalism....FOT-UnitedNations and Progressives...FO-Obama.
It’s OK there are plenty here that will chime in on the side of the article, because.......Cruz!
Actually, he had five wins (including partial wins) and four losses.
We all cheered this decision very loudly. I had never heard of Cruz at the time but am very thankful for all the cases he has fought for we the little guys at SCOTUS.

Successfully arguing in the Supreme Court to execute an evil murderer is one of the things I like most about Cruz.
I’m sorry, but if other countries are so worried about how their precious citizens are treated in America, they should keep their murdering, raping citizens at home!
PERIOD!!
It doesn’t appear to me that hurting U.S. - Mexico relations is a negative in this campaign.
"legal crusade to execute a Mexican man in Texas" -- how leftists viewed a defense of Texas state sovereignty against subjugation to an international kangaroo court.
That is a horrible percentage considering he brags so much and he only had to convince Kennedy. Cruz is weak.
So? This is not a negative.
I agree it isn’t a good percentage, but it isn’t one win and eight losses. That’s all I was stating.
I like Cruz, I like Trump...mostly, I HATE Democrats (and more and more Republican’s - DAILY).
The man is simply brilliant and it is obvious that Justice Scalia understands early on that he needed absolutely no help to skewer the liberal jurists attempts to ACKNOWLEDGE AND ENCOURAGE THE USA’s PARTICIPATION AND ACQUIESCENCE TO THE UN’s WORLD COURT
My reason and really a main reason for supporting trump is to take the whole government and tip the whole thing over. We had all 3 branches of government not long ago and nothing changed. We have two branches now and nothing changes. I want trump to go into the presidency and raise holy hell.
