Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)s overwhelming victory in Wisconsin on Tuesday makes it all but impossible for GOP frontrunner Donald Trump to win the 1,237 delegates he needs to secure the nomination ahead of the RNC convention in Cleveland.
Trump currently leads the GOP field with 743 delegates. He would need to win 58.9 percent of the remaining pledged delegates to obtain the simple majority necessary.
A number of the states remaining award delegates proportionally. The bulk of delegates in one critical upcoming state, Pennsylvania, arent officially bound to any candidate. The fight for Californias massive 172 delegates will be fought largely in each of the states 54 Congressional Districts.
As a result, Breitbart News estimates that Donald Trump will end the primary portion of the nomination fight with 1164 delegates, 74 short of the 1,237 delegates necessary to win the nomination on the first ballot. This estimate assumes Trumps performance in upcoming contests is consistent with the results prior to Wisconsin.
In other words, it is a static estimate, assuming no great change in the trajectory, tone, or focus of the campaigns. It isnt based on any future missteps, like those experienced by the Trump campaign ahead of the Wisconsin primary. Our assumption is, in many respects, the most optimistic for the Trump campaign. Because of this, it underscores the steep challenge Donald Trump faces heading into the 4th Quarter of the primary season.

Trump vs. Hillary tends to poll Hillary according to voters presented with a tabula rasa.
However, this won’t be the case by Election Day. The Alpha Dog Donald will have tangled with the Cat Hillary, and just about any sane person expects that most of the fur that will fly, won’t be the Dog’s. Trump doesn’t have any Benghazis or Emailgates.
Rules are rules, fair or corrupt. I dont think so!
I said it before and I will say it again. I was an original Cruz or lose guy but Ted’s less than ethical tactics told me he is in it for himself and not for the country. If he were the patriot he claims to be he would have already left the race and pledged his delegates to Trump.
I was there. I personally know the people involved and the timeline. I’ll dig up the story later.
No Trunp will not get “the majority.” Probably the largest plurality.
And it is not “corruption” for the actual majority of reps to reject Trump. That’s called a “republic.” And the USA is a republic.
This is the normal way the process works.
Trunp is not a conservative and so does not have grass roots support beyond his fringe. Of course they will reject him.
If Democrats hadn’t dragged their feet on racial reconciliation and hadn’t dug up old hatchets in the guise of “healing” a problem, we’d have far more cordial race relations today. 40 acres and a mule matters a lot less to this picture than acres of Democrat bigots that are dead set on being mules.
A “fringe” which reaches well outside the party.
IF..........DT > TC
AND.....HC > DT
THEN...HC > TC
I've all but checked out already. When this election cycle began I was saying, "Wow, the party has such an embarrassment of riches." Now I say, "Wow, the party is such an embarrassment."
I've gone back to building hotrods (before they're outlawed), playing music (before it is banned), and chasing girls (before I'm too old).
I still hope Hillary is jailed and not the nominee. I remember how Hillary made Rick Lazio look like a bully in their NY Senate debate when he dared to approach her podium. Hillary has the media in her pocket and will use this to her advantage. She’ll play the woman/victim card.
Polls for a Trump v Hillary at this point is silly. Trump has had to spend his efforts fighting off the GOPe and has not had a chance to take aim at Hillary yet. I am suspicious of any poll at this time.
OK, thanks.
I agree with all that. But Democrat actions after the war don’t impact the moral imperative of eliminating slavery.
...Trump told the British newspaper on Wednesday that “he’s asked the Iowa State Fair for permission to set up the thrill ride at his own risk and expense.”
The riders would board his $7 million, 12-seat Sikorsky S-76 helicopter that is the one in the opening credits of “Celebrity Apprentice.”
Trump told the newspaper he plans to fly the helicopter out to Iowa.
An Iowa State Fair spokeswoman told the Des Moines Register that Trump has not asked the fair for permission to offer the rides and he would not be granted permission to do so on the fairgrounds...
Reagan was polling behind Carter in 198- and won the nomination and the Presidency. Waaay too early to rely on these head to head polls!
It is looking like a Dominionist theology issue. This is what has apparently managed to transcend ideas about who Christ (or for that matter the devil) is, to get Cruz hand in hand with the devoutly Mormon Glen Beck.
My reaction: Ted please don’t do this to Christianity. I’d rather a secularist in all but name, than this.
I see the job as problem solving with complext variances.
Some of the solutions are fairly simple i.e build the wall.
Perhaps the most complex part of the job would be dealing with Congress and I believe this is why Trump said he’d choose a VP with deep experience (Jeff Sessions?).
Providing for the common defense is something I believe Trump would be excellent at - as well as protecting our rights.
Being POTUS is not something he’s wanted to do since grade school but he sees big problems that need to be fixed or our children’s and grandchildren’s lives won’t be anywhere close to as good as ours were.
Depends on what the definition of conservative is!!
What I’m trying to get at is that Democrats did their darndest to impose a soft slavery after the hard slavery was over. And if we had to pay for the hard slavery, we probably will pay for the soft slavery too.
Yes, I believe once Trump is out of the picture (later this year, in four years or in eight years), there’s no reason to pretend anymore.
I need to find my own private Idaho, collect watches, quietly run my business, and otherwise check out of this political hobby. Really, it’s never been more clear that it’s a complete waste of time.
