Stereotypes asserting Jews "control the banks and the media" do not constitute anti-Semitism, a member of the Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU) Senate claimed this week.
During a hearing on renewing a resolution banning anti-Semitism, Stanford senior Gabriel Knight insisted that a clause defining negative Jewish stereotypes is "irresponsibly foraying into another politically contentious conversation."
"Questioning these potential power dynamics, I think, is not anti-semitism," he said. "I think it’s a very valid discussion."
He also maintained that the bill should include “some language to acknowledge Palestinians’ rights to self-determination."
Knight backtracked twenty minutes later, the Stanford Review reported Tuesday, apologizing as "the Jewish community could be offended by that." Two fellow Senators, however - named as Elliot Kaufman and Matthew Wigler - have called for Knight to step down after making the remarks.

You have a perfect example of why colleges should not be in the business of writing “speech codes” in the first place.
A. They always, always, always end up botching the job.
B. The first amendment will do quite nicely.
It is a huge mistake, in my view, to ever back a college campus speech code that seeks to ban speech protected by the first amendment, even in those rare cases when it bans speech that we dislike.
Why? In the overwhelming majority of cases, if will be the speech of conservatives that will be banned. Is there any doubt about that? That is the situation in Europe now—using the term “Islamic terrorism” can get you a visit from the police. On a campus, the mere expression of disagreement with, say, the concept of same sex marriage has been deemed hate speech, and grounds for expulsion. Having an American flag sticker has been derided as “divisive”. On and on and on.
Jewish support of leftist causes is coming home to roost.
I worked on Wall Street for 10 years in computers for several banks, I guess I knew 2 Jewish programmers, O Jewish computer room people, no Jewish management, on the Teller floors everyone but Jews.
I am not saying Jews don’t have influence on Wall Street, but more so in Brokerages not banking.
I guess banking doesn’t pay enough, or the Shylock stereotype has kept them out of banking either by choice or don’t get hired.
Really does it matter any more than color or race who takes your loan info, makes out your bank check?

My post has nothing whatsoever to do with these things. It has to do with my aversion to campus speech codes which are almost invariably used to quash the speech of conservatives on campus. Like the Emory university students who attempted to silence this message, written in chalk:
“Trump 2016”.
That’s how out of hand this nonsense has gotten in the 20 years that left wing professors and administrators set about defining the limits of free speech. Their fostering of anti-semitic speech while barring terms like “Islamic terrorism” is what we get when we let them anywhere near the first amendment.
Dear Petronius: You are wrong. The Jews don’t have the media locked up. Some Jews own various means of communications, as do non-Jews (Christians, possibly a few Moslems, Blacks (BET, etc), and just independents).
While the New York Times has had Jewish owners and editorial staff for many years, most of them were no longer “Jews” in soul, esp. the present little “Pinch” Comrade Salzberger.
I don’t know who owns the NY Daily News but they’re just f*king insane leftist shits.

We have good Jewish patriots in the news media and stupid, delusional, cowardly Jewish parrots in the news media.
I don’t know much about Jews in banking but they were often forced into banking in Europe because of discrimination (Rothschilds), but some were very good and brought their business skills to the US.
I do know that Jews were, at one time, denied employment by local/regional banks. In fact, a high school friend of mine was one of the first Jewish Bank VP’s at Mercantile Bank (this was back in the early 70’s. I think it has improved over time.
Now please remember, many of the American giants of industry were NOT JEWISH - Carnegie, Mellon, Rockefeller, Ford (Henry was very anti-Semitic; others in his family were not), etc.
I think that our industries/leaders often mirror what was going on in the world at specific points in time (i.e. anti-Semitism based on lies and disinformation; anti-Jewish sentiment based on a perceived clash of religions; etc).
But look at what we have done in Medicine (many Nobel Laureates); Entertainment (basically excluding the rich leftists of Katzenberg, Weinstein, etc. of today); literature (many Pulitzer Prize writers); and basic Science (Einstein, Minksy who just died (A.I. research pioneer), computers/digital programming, and other similar fields.
Can’t leave out MUSIC: Bernstein, Hermann, Gershschwin, Jolson, Cantor, Streisand, Neal Diamond, Barry Manilow, Dinah Shore, Lieber & Stoller, etc.
[Jews often wrote the music but didn’t own the record businesses. Interestingly several Armenians did create their own recording industries (Artegan is one name) and gave us a lot of great black musicians/music.)
The greatness of America is that anyone with talent and drive can succeed (discrimination can stretch out their time for success but just look at how far black entertainers came even during Segregation, and then how much further they went after desegregation).
We now have Vietnamese (refugees) in the upper echelons of our military, government, beginning to rise in literature, and technology. The same for Koreans, Japanese and Chinese from old native generations to newcomers.
Blacks have made major advances in the sciences, medicine (Dr. Ben Carson, for one), aviation, the military, education, and even as conservative writers/columnists/authors.
America is just a great place to live and prosper. By eliminating unfound prejudices and preconceptions, we can make it much better.
That is why I like conservatives. Most of them are more open-minded to an in-gathering of like minded people (based on their activities and accomplishments)regardless of their race or ethnicity, then are many liberals who use minorities as their Display-Case Trophies.
I don’t know of many rich, white liberals who live in the “hood”.
We need to work together to take back our country from the Left-Marxists, anti-semites, and uneducated, so we must be united in thought and goals. There is no place for discrimination.
Let the Left have a monopoly on that.
The notion that any campus, even larger ones, need a student senate, is a throwback to the times when colleges and universities were places of learning.
