Pat Buchanan Joins Trump – Cruz Convention Unity Movement (Brilliant - Retain Rule 40 Movement!)
Conservative HQ ^ | 5 Apr 16 | George Raisley

Posted on 04/05/2016 7:36:02 AM PDT by xzins

While we disagree with Mr. Buchanan on which candidate is the best standard bearer for the conservative movement there is one thing we do agree on – passionately.

No matter who gets the Republican nomination, the establishment must lose.

In a recent column “Lock Out The Establishment In Cleveland!” Pat Buchanan echoed the conclusions of our four-part series on what conservatives should do if Trump wins the nomination:

As Buchanan explained, to accomplish that goal, “All Trump and Cruz need do is instruct their delegates to vote to retain Rule 40 from the 2012 convention. Rule 40 declares that no candidate can be placed in nomination who has failed to win a majority of the delegates in eight states.”

Trump has already hit that mark. Cruz almost surely will. But no establishment favorite has a chance of reaching it.

With Cruz and Trump delegates voting to retain Rule 40, they can guarantee no Beltway favorite walks out of Cleveland as the nominee — and that Ted Cruz or Donald Trump does.

As Pat Buchanan said, “No matter who wins in Cleveland, the establishment must lose.” We urge Trump and Cruz delegates across the country to do what their compatriots in Tennessee and a few other states have started to do; get together and form an informal alliance that commits them to voting for Cruz or Trump – and only Cruz or Trump.

Will of the delegates....not the will of the people/voters :(

How is he associating with him?

This does not say: (1) Make Cruz the VP, or (2) Make Cruz the Attorney General, or even (3) Make Cruz your butler.

It says: Agree to keep rule 40 that restricts the nomination to only those candidates who have won at least 8 states.

That limits the nominee to either Trump or Cruz and not Kasich, Bush, Rubio, Ryan, Romney, Priebus, Rove, Barbara, etc.

I’m sure you see this.

Do you really think Trump will prevail “winner take all” with his majority of delegates (but less than 1237)?

Nope. Not on your life. He better cut some back room deals with Ted and the GOP-e or he’s toast.

Afraid I agree.

It’s pretty much a matter of how far the Paul Ryan forces want to carry on this project to raid TRUMP of his delegates.

This includes raiding Trump of his delegates on the Rules Committee.

In the end, it is possible delegates will actually decline, in good conscience, to cooperate with the Cruz/Ryan forces trying to dump our frontrunner and his delegates.

No. It IS the will of the people/voters.

It is the best possible way of insuring the will of the people comes out of that convention.

It says that only a candidate who has won at least 8 states can be the nominee. That means Trump or Cruz.

It cuts out anything the party bosses might do to subvert the will of the people.

And, IF TRUMP gets his 1237 delegates, then he wins anyway and this doesn’t change anything.

Exactly.

If Trump enters that convention with less than 1237, then it is questionable WHO will come out as the nominee.

It will probably be a Bush or a Ryan or something like that.

If Rule 40 is kept, then it can ONLY be either Trump or Cruz. Period. No one else.

imo "coming out with Cruz" is a dead loss for the party Not only will his character be ripped to shreds in the general election once the friendly MSM turns on him, he will take down the entire party for another 4 years minimum After his falseness and hints of unvetted bad character have been revealed (his mistress tweeting herself posing on a hotel room bed with condoms? Puh leeze) I could not vote for Ted Cruz anymore than I could send money to Ernest Angley photo ernest_zps1wvjomxp.jpg
photo ted-cruz-evangelicals_zpswiy07gt2.jpg Not that I care anymore about the GOP It's just another Skull and Bones club running a simulated political party

But the establishment is backing Cruz

Only to keep Trump from reaching the 1,237 threshold, IMO. As soon as Cruz helps the establishment attain that goal, he'll be out faster than Mike Tyson at a spelling bee.

You know Rita it just could be that these delegates will see Cruz and his ilk for EXACTLY how SLIMY they are just as WE do!!! Let’s face facts he REALLY doesn’t have ALOT of friends in DC, they are USING him and he is so unlikeable they don’t care about using him!!!!

I will support either Cruz or trump if they are the nominee. If the GOPE puts in Kasich, or Ryan or Romney or whoever they can kiss my Mofo ass. I’ll vote libertarian.

I am never going to vote for an establishment republican for president ever again.

Interesting article, but not needed. Once Cruz is knocked out on April 26th, Trump will pick up even more delegates as his momentum continues. Anyone who thinks he won’t make the magic number hasn’t sat down and down the math. DT is the only one with a path.

No, I’m not advocating their associating.

I’m advocating they have their delegates support the retention of rule 40.

Do you want rule 40 eliminated?

Yes. Also Trump and Cruz need to stop this mud slinging. Argue the issues and focus your attacks on clinton, otherwise they will hand the election to “The Witch”.
