‘Fair Trade’: Ted Cruz Rejects GOP Orthodoxy, Joins Jeff Sessions Populist Revolt
Breitbart ^ | 3/31/2016 | Michelle Moons

Posted on 03/31/2016 5:11:07 PM PDT by lodi90

Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz pledges to “stand up for fair trade” in a new state-wide Wisconsin ad hitting on international trade deals, a signature issue of frontrunner Donald Trump’s campaign.

“Free trade” is generally seen as a globalist policy in which restrictions on imports and exports are kept to an absolute minimum. “Fair traders,” on the other hand, argue that purely free trade can have negative consequences for the citizens of a particular country, especially when it comes to wages and employment opportunities for the lower and middle classes. They recommend that sovereign nations negotiate and implement trade deals that prioritize their own people first. This debate has been a centerpiece of the 2016 primary season as both political parties have seen populist factions revolt against their respective establishments over what they view as unfair free trade deals.

Cruz, speaking directly to the camera, says:

Wisconsin is a beautiful place where the people place solutions over slogans.

Our campaign is for the working moms, the truck drivers, the mechanics, and the machinists with calluses on their hands. It’s for the farmers and factory workers and the families who worry about prices going up while paychecks stay flat. It’s for the young people coming out of school unable to find a job.

I’m going to stand up for fair trade, and bring our jobs back from China.

We will see wages going up. We’ll see opportunity again.

We’ll see a President who will stand with the people of Wisconsin, and Americans everywhere.

This is a significant change in policy and rhetoric for Cruz away from Republican party’s limitless trade orthodoxy.

He never said he was a democrat. He did say in that video that on many issues he identified more with the Democrats. And that was in 2007, 9 years ago, not 5.

Donald Trump quote:

“I think pretty strongly that (Bill de Blasio will) end up being a good mayor, maybe a very good mayor and I don’t think he’s going to want to kill the golden goose. ...I think he’s a smart guy that knows what’s going on really big league and I think he is not going to want to destroy New York. I think he is going to want to make New York great.” (2013)

Note to self: Trump supporters don’t care.

Whoa. Talk about blatant pandering and stealing Trump’s ideas.

Yeah, Trump lives and breaths international finance, and VAT-Tax-Teddy doesn't even know what a currency code or exchange rate is.

Most of these candidates are clueless about business.

It's mind-boggling that people support lawyers and politicians that got our country into this economic mess. Sure Trump has warts and needs to learn political stuff, but he knows how to run a mega business empire and he is the right resource to save our economy..

Trump knows what the effects of dumping and the deficit is doing to our country. No one else talks about it does because they don't understand. They're pretty worthless actually, except for glad-handing and lying to people.

“Supporting PP wasn’t just business. Those are personal!”

You just don’t get it. He lives in NYC and that’s where the majority of his business is; NYC is not like any other place in America. If you can’t make that connection, then you really aren’t trying very hard.

Trump changes his mind in less than 24 hours, or as he would say, he didn’t say what what said.

Trade and immigration are two issues that are always like this. Politicians pander but never do anything.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Yup, and we keep hiring lawyers and politicians (and community organizers) to sit in the corner office. These jerks have trouble tying their shoes.

TPA Ted Cruz jumps on Superman's cape yet again. LOL.

First off, Ted voted against TPA.

Second. Duncan Hunter was using "Free but Fair Trade" way before Trump had the notion of playing a republican conservative.

Third, Trump took Cruz's position on abortion after making another stupid position a couple of days ago. 24 hour flip switching back to Cruz's position of punishing the abortion butchers, not the women.

“..list doesn’t impress me..”

There are brave military men, and all kinds of strong conservatives on Ted’s endorsement list. If you don’t like them, no wonder you are for Trump.

Men and women are equal, but not the same. Women should not be drafted until men start having the babies. That’s one of the reasons women weren’t drafted in the first place.

II hope it works for you when he negotiates away your rights to get a deal with Harry and Nancy. Because as he said ‘everything is negotiable’ and making a deal is just “business” /s

Just saw a commercial on TV that is supposed to help nasal issues. I think Cruz needs to use it before he speaks.
