Ted Cruz dodges question about whether he's 'always been faithful' to his wife ...

Ted Cruz dodges question about whether he's 'always been faithful' to his wife as endorser Carly Fiorina leaps in to insist a declaration that he's not an adulterer is a 'dance to Donald trump's tune'

Texas senator could put National Enquirer scandal to rest with a simple statement that he has never strayed in his 14-year marriage

Instead he has batted down the supermarket tabloid's speculative story about five alleged affairs in a more limited fashion

Carly Fiorina leaped in to intercept DailyMail.com's request for a blanket statement of marital fidelity and Cruz ultimately punted on the question

Fiorina pleaded for a return to discussing issues, but lobbed her own accusation at 'serial adulterer' Donald Trump

Cruz also challenged Trump to a one-on-one debate in Wisconsin on Tuesday night: 'Why don't you show up and debate like a man?'

Ted Cruz declined to answer a question on Monday about whether he has ever been unfaithful to his wife Heidi.

'Senator Cruz,' DailyMail.com asked him, 'can you please swat down more definitively this National Enquirer piece by telling us on the record that you've never been unfaithful to your wife?'

The National Enquirer published a story last Wednesday that speculated about five women with whom the Republican presidential candidate was rumored to have had extramarital affairs.

Cruz has batted down the specifics of the story on numerous occasions since it appeared in supermarket checkout lanes.

But instead of making a blanket declaration that he has been faithful during the entirety of his 14-year marriage – a move that would effectively end the vicious news cycle – Cruz stood silently as campaign surrogate Carly Fiorina leapt in to intercept the question and change the subject.

I wish a reporter would ask when he plans to sue the NE for defamation.

This is why I said ‘akin.’

Herod let other people say that his voice was that of a god.

Cruz is claiming to be to be the fulfillment of some prophesy. Thus, falsely claiming God’s words for himself. (False words, no less) Or to be specific, allowing Beck to do so.

That counts as ‘akin’ to me.

My guess, after Fiorina & Cruz's bizarre performance, the press may start asking tougher questions.

You seem to be a little behind the curve. This story was pushed by the Rubio camp weeks ago. It didn't originate with Donald Trump.

Donald Trump has become a catch-all boogeyman for everything that goes wrong in t he Cruz campaign.

Instead of simply saying something like "I have never cheated on my wife", Cruz goes into immediate deflection mode.

And worse, today Ted Cruz submissively lets "Mama Carly" jump in a defend her little boy from the big bully Donald Trump: "Shut up, Teddy, let mommy handle this".

The optics of that moment were just incredibly bad. And what did Carly, who has no direct knowledge of the facts, do? Deflect onto the boogeyman Donald Trump once again.

Donald Trump is the one who has been the victim of relentless character assassination nonstop, 24/7 for weeks and weeks on end.

Your righteous indignation is downright quaint.

If you think that video from today made either Ted Cruz or Carly Fiorina look good, you're delusional...

There is no evidence that Cruz strayed from marital fidelity more than Trump.

Magnify that pic with Heidi standing in the background. She is clenching her hands so hard her knuckles are white. I feel sorry for her.

I agree. In fact, I'm very worried about her.

If Ted Cruz did betray his marital vows one or more times, he needs to drop out immediately and focus on what's most important: preserving his family and seeing to each member's emotional health. I'm getting a bad feeling about this situation; it's scary, given Heidi's previously documented issues.

Can you imagine how Heidi felt when her husband Ted was invited directly to declare that he hasn't cheated on his wife, and then refused to do so, and moreover, he submissively let "Mama Carly" assertively jump in and address the question, while Ted just stands there?

Why in God's name would Ted Cruz handle the situation like that? And why would he let Carly Fiorina run the deflection and interference for him?

Not exactly an Alpha Male moment...

It reminds one of the UT candidate who claimed a World War II record that never existed. Can’t recall his name:

Yea,,...and Obama claimed his relative was in the unit that liberated the Belsen camp in WWII.

Fact Checker - Obama and Auschwitz, Part II voices.washingtonpost.com › Politics

May 28, 2008 - Barack Obama has made his "Americans liberated Auschwitz" claim more than once. ... Auschwitz was not just one more Nazi concentration camp, a place of torture ... about the issue because it involved an UNCLE -- i.e. a close relative. ..... You just claimed Bergen-Belsen was liberated by American troops, ...

And Carly didn’t help his cause. Very prepared response.

Why was she there?

Letting her cut in and then Cruz deflecting are very poor optics.

Cruz nor his campaign had nothing to do with the [Melania Trump] ad.

No, Cruz claims neither he nor his campaign had anything to do with the ad.

And there's supposedly evidence that the Ted Cruz campaign did have something to do with the ad.

It's might not be incontrovertible evidence as yet, but people are investigating the issue, so we'll see where that question shakes out soon enough.

Ditto for the $500,000 transfer from the Cruz super-PAC to the Fiorina super-PAC.

All the boogeyman Donald Trump's fault, doubtless.

Boy, talk about following the lead of the GOPe.

Hey I got a new one: DeflecTed!

It was down right unmanly.

Speaking as a normal man with buddies, some of whom have human frailties, I need to educate Senator Cruz.

If you're caught straying, you may deny, lie, or blame it on her girlfriends who are spreading rumors trying to break your up because they never liked you. You may even lay the blame on the other woman, who chased you down and hounded you constantly and finally snared you when you'd had too much to drink.

As a last resort, you may tell the truth and beg for mercy. But you must grow a pair and do that yourself.

But, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES...

You do NOT blame another man.

And you certainly do NOT drag in another woman to do your excuse-making or explaining for you.

That Carly episode was pathetic in every respect.

I re-watched the Fiorina/Cruz video. Appalling.

I just watched it....

The Most Cring-worthy video I have ever seen..

Carly comes over as the "Mother-in Law from Hell...

Cruz looks like a seriously chastised teenager.

Carly ranting about Trump (must have been listening to Levin)

Cruz nodding /smirking

What the F are they thinking off

Watching Cruz campaign self destruct before our very eyes.

Unbelievable.

"They are horrified for their miscalculation of supporting Cruz just last week."

You're wrong about that.

If Jeb couldn't make it with Rubio as VP they at least wanted Rubio.

This all came out of Rubio's opposition research (GOPe staffed and funded) and many different sources have said Rubio was shopping this story around a long while back.

Jeb and Romeny are sitting back and watching their plan to take out both Cruz and Trump with one blow unfold. They figure worse case, they only get Cruz and leave many Cruz supporters dedicated to never voting for Trump. Best case, Trump would have reacted by focusing on this news and their new BFF Cruz would have been more convincing.

They once again underestimated Trump and, like his supporters, overestimated Cruz.

Trump will say and do anything to win including smear an innocent man.

You're being willfully obtuse at this point. It was the Rubio camp that was pushing this story weeks ago, not Donald Trump. Indeed, the entire media culture has known about it for months and months.

Boy, talk about a total lack of evidence! Indeed, there's ample evidence to the contrary that Donald Trump didn't push this, or why would people be trying to scour their Twitter accounts from weeks ago in an effort to cover their tracks?

The Cruz campaign has gotten to the point where they can't put two sentences together about any topic, policy-based or otherwise, without deflecting onto the omnipresent boogeyman Donald Trump as the source of all their woes.

The Cruz campaign is becoming a hysterical caricature, and is pathologically obsessed with Donald Trump...

The Clinton’s, Obama, and Trump - there’s not a dimes worth of difference between them when it comes to being pathological liars and completely immoral.

LOL you're just lashing out blindly at this point.

It's a jarring thing when one's golden idol turns out to have clay feet. It tends to induce a lot of rage, which can manifest itself in the form of hysterical and impotent ranting and raving...

I think this is a picture [showing Tedd and Heidi Cruz together] from today...

The poster was probably referring to the report that Heidi is bailing out for the time being. Leaving the scene. Taking some time off. Not going to be on the campaign trail. Whatever.

I read that earlier tonight on this forum somewhere, but I don't know if it's been triple-sourced yet or anything...
