Ted Cruz for a third time would not say that he would support Donald Trump as the GOP presidential nominee, the latest sign that his pledge to do so may be softening. Cruz late last week began signaling that his unconditional support for the Republican front-runner was not as ironclad as previously. But asked by CNN's Sunlen Serfaty on Monday if he would definitively say that he would not support Trump, the Texas senator left his answer ambiguous.
"I'm not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my family," Cruz said. "Donald Trump is not gonna be the nominee. We are gonna beat him for this nomination."

Either Cruz puts the sex scandal behind him, or he goes down.
It is highly unlikely National Enquirer fired all its bullets in the first article. They can make lots of money from this, but they have to stretch it out to do so. It’s a safe bet they will milk this for everything they can. Every two weeks we’ll see something new and salacious.
Cruz’s strategy thus far is simply to claim it is a smear, and blame Trump.
The problem is, according to many different and unrelated sources, the story clearly came from the Rubio campaign. It’s a safe bet every campaign knew about it, but the Trump campaign is not the source.
So, presumably, the attack Trump in order to make this go away strategy is likely to fail.
What happens to the holy man when multiple articles from National Enquirer have hit the stands, and the attempt to blame it all on Trump has failed?
To be fair to both sides...
1: For some reason Cruz has decided that this... mistress... THING needs to be brought into the public sphere. Whatever; that’s his decision. And if Cruz brought it up, then Jim decided that he’s going to allow talking about it. When the story was originally breaking, Jim deleted all threads in regards to the story, but when Cruz started talking about it, he allowed the threads to stay.
2: You are correct; we do not have evidence at the moment. NE may or may not; we’ll see if this story has legs or not in the near future.
3: There have been plenty of smears against Mr. Trump on this board for months now, many of which were proved to be blatantly untrue. Phony KKK endorsement for one. So it’s not a one-way street here.
4: Cruz supporters have been truly ugly to many Trump supporters for months now. Civility is also a two-way street. And so is incivility. Right or wrong, it’s not a surprise that there’s a certain amount of vidictiveness in the FR air now.
That was before Trump tried to smear him and his wife. I wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t. I’m not going to. I’ve lost any vestige of respect I might have had for Trump....and it wasn’t much to begin with. He has always given me the creeps.
Mmm-hmmm. Speaking of pledges, we’ll see how Trump honors his to remain a republican if he doesn’t get the nomination.
It’s not a matter of getting the nomination or not.
It’s a matter of if the process is fair or not.
If he rightfully wins and they diddle him out of it?
He’ll go third party and I’m sure most of us will go with him.
He’s said that if he loses fair and square that he’ll support the nominee.
WELL, Cruz has always given me the creepy and he lost all my respect when he sided with the rioters over the Constitution, so there.
And what smears are you talking about?
Dems will hate Cruz in the same way they hated Palin, but worse.
So he's become Two Face?
There are.
... still won’t say he has never cheated on his wife either...
You’re right. If someone attacks a wife all bets are off. Therefore, there’s no way Trump could support Cruz.
My word is my bond?
Eh, maybe not :(
Didn’t they all sign some sort of pledge? But I guess that doesn’t matter in 2016!
How did Cruz attack Trumps wife and when?
They could show you live multiple sexual partners, and you would make excuses.
Makes no difference to me; Cruz is the one who has to worry about those sneaky crawlin' crabs, roflmao.
Choice! roflmao
I’m proud to call him my senator.
Doesn't matter, as it won't be me whose gonna catch tha' crabbies, rofl.
