A contested Convention will destroy the GOP completely. The GOP has done enough to destroy itself, and this will just see the whole thing collapse. If a contested Convention occurs, I’ll be writing Trump in, and won’t vote for another damned GOP candidate on this ticket, or any other the rest of my life.

I think you are right if Trump is very far ahead and they try to put in a Romney or his ilk.
But if you have two candidates with a fairly strong pluralities (e.g., Trump and Cruz) and the representatives pick Cruz on the second vote, that’s pretty normal and has happened many times, in both parties.
That’s how a REPUBLIC works. And we live in a Democratic Republic, not a true Democracy.
Trump has EXTREMELY high negatives; the majority of Republicans don’t like him. So if he doesn’t pull off the 1237 (and someone is within 200 of him), he’s toast.
With you on that. The Democrats who run the Republican Party have accomplished their mission of imploding it from within. Great job Mitch! Great job Paul Ryan! Don’t think we didn’t forget you too John Boehner! And to all the fake conservatives, RINOs, and to all who have contributed to the soon to be implosion of the Republican Party the enemies of America owe you a tremendous thanks.
I’m with you, dware...
Yup.
We’ve had this discussion. So I won’t chew your ear again on this thread. (Well, maybe just a little bit.)
Your position on the issue still confounds me. A contested convention embodies the spirit of a representative republic. An elected body of delegates must have a process to resolve conflicts. Not having a candidate with a majority is a conflict.
Me too. I don’t give a damn about ‘Republican’ anymore.
cruz who was against the establishment he said is now for what the establishment wants, because he has seen his failed campaign.
Sadly now a vote for cruz is a vote for the establishment.
It was obviously very difficult for you when 2012 GOP Convention locked out your nutcase hero.
Contested Conventions have long been the practice and the rule from the start. The one a Contested Convention hurts is Mr. NewYorkNoValues.
Bye Bye visions of grandeur, back to stealing from little Ol Ladies through public domain.

I thought that’s what Trump supporters wanted.
I am beginning to think that Trump -in the general- will be the only candidate to hold Hillary’s corrupt feet to the fire without backing down when the GOPe comes to “discuss” things.
I didn’t see Romney follow through on Benghazi.
I DO NOT see anyone else calling Hillary a criminal as Trump has many times. I also think Trump will call out the media for its collusion with the DC cabal.
Outside his proposed policies, we may see flashes of Ronaldus Magnus in how he comports himself. Policy-wise...not so much.

If they pull a fast one and screw Trump even though he is the winner, I tend to agree.
If Trump doesn’t get the votes, I don’t think so, unless they prop of Kasich or some other squish (which they probably will do).
A lot of Trump supporters will be pissed, I agree.
We have had contested conventions just about every time we don’t have an incumbent. It does not ruin the party. That rule has been in effect ever since Lincoln—its founding .I am sure a few del. would change their vote if one is just short of the number. Eisenhower/Taft—taft was ahead and Ike stole the election on second ballot Thenks to Earl Warren. Goldwater was a contested conv. Nixon/Reagan was contested. Ford/Reagan was contested. Bush 41 withdrew once he realized Reagan had the nomination in the bag. Just enforce the rules we have (maybe the one that was only adapted to keep Rand nomination from coming to the floor and never should have been.

Yet, you expect the 70% of the party that doesn’t want Trump to hold their noses and support your guy, even though he has been trying as hard as he can to alienate no in the Trump camp instead of moving to the party? Sorry, Trump is a fraud, and the GOP should not hand him the nomination if he fails to reach 1,237. Trump doesn’t seem too worried about Hillary, as his juvenile and divisive actions help no one but her.

I *totally* agree with you. If the sh!ts at the RNC cram another candidate down our throats, it’s write-in for Trump and never another Republican vote for the rest of my days. I have absolutely HAD IT with this Party!
