Bill Kristol, founder and editor of The Weekly Standard, tells Newsmax TV he hopes a third-party candidate will emerge if Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are anointed the Republican and Democratic presidential nominees.
"I just don't think [Trump] has the character or temperament to be president of the United States ... [and] we're certainly not going to vote for Hillary," Kristol said Friday to J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime."
"There are a lot of fine Republicans and conservatives in the country, some of them are retired generals, some of them are businessmen, some of them are civic leaders, some of them are retired or current senators or governors.
"Let's see if anyone comes forward. Maybe it's all just a pipe dream. I'm willing to acknowledge it's possible that this won't happen."
And what would a third party be called?
"I kind of like the Federalist Party. They were a great party for the first 12 years in the republic before they went out of business. The Alexander Hamilton Party, there are a lot of good names," said Kristol, whose publication is a leading conservative opinion magazine.
"Look, I don't want to start a third party, I'm a Republican. I've voted Republican in every presidential election in my adult lifetime and virtually every Senate and governor, gubernatorial election.

[And what would a third party be called?]
The Uni-Party is one party so we don’t need a third. The Trump Common Sense Conservative makes two.
The Weakly Standard is just a branch of the Uni-Party.

Yep. Seems Bill has forgotten what a “Third Party Candidate” such as Ross Perot gave us in 1992.
How do you spell “CLINTONS”?

That was way too quick, we had such fun with the last 876 post epic opus.

Funny how when voters threatened to go third party in the last POTUS election the GOP pundits groveled, asking for them to stay with the party and those elected would do their will.
Those same voters now recognize the lies told to them and yet they still support a GOP candidate, only one of their own choosing instead of the pundit's choice, and these same self-serving, sanctimonious, ivory pillared
pundits (I'm being polite) now want to leave the party they urged others to support.
What crassness! How can you even justify your words and actions given your past history? You would better serve your self by simply remaining silent than expressing yourself and exposing your hypocrisy.

What is he intending to name this new party? How about, The Bitter Neo-Con Revenge Party (BNCRP)?

Would be a liberal like Kristol who pretends that there are still two major parties. If there really is only one party, then you really can't blame Kristol for wanting to form a new one.
Maybe the impending nomination of a New York liberal like Trump means that is time for conserivatives to indeed time to form a new party.
At least, that would seem to be the case if we believe all those who claim there is just a "Uniparty" right now.

If hes looking for a three way election he might just as well admit that hes looking for a way to guarantee Hillary a win.Actually, I think Trump's path to the White House is slightly easier in a three-way election.

I don't particularly like Trump, I don't trust his record of being a conservative any more that I trusted Romney's record as a conservative. But to threaten a third party or sit out an election when that would almost guarantee Hillary wins is national suicide (I heard Hannity interview Trump and they both agreed that if Hillary gets in, the country is toast for at least 30 years).
Kristol needs to stop worrying about what his friends at ABC news think of him. Instead, he needs to accept the decision of the Republican party - we have held our noses when voting often enough, he needs to do that now.

I agree if it’s Trump who runs third party against a rino and Hillary.

Now, ain't that special... ...I guess his grand ole party left him due to the fact that it is not in the nature of true constitutional conservative American patriots to become globalist slaves to the likes of globalist shills like Bill Kristol... time for Kristol to find another party to exploit and I suspect it will be a rather small one at that
