Republicans have assumed this entire elections season that a candidate must have won at least 8 state primaries or caucuses to be eligible for the GOP nomination, but apparently that is not the case and apparently a rule change hasnt technically occurred, but thats not the way it seems.
Even Ted Cruz said just last night that John Kasich wasnt eligible because he hadnt won enough states, so even he was mislead.
Insiders now say rule 40(b) only applied to the republican convention in 2012 and was never intended to be used in future elections.
From Washington Examiner:
Party officials and knowledgeable sources have confirmed over the past few days that Rule 40(b) doesnt exist for the purposes of the upcoming convention. That means at this point, the three candidates left in the race, front-runner Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, are all eligible for the nomination, as, possibly, are the Republican contenders who have since suspended their campaigns.
Ben Ginsberg, a Republican elections lawyer who was involved in rule-making process for the 2012 convention, said that Rule 40(b) isnt transferrable to the 2016 convention. Ginsberg explained to the Washington Examiner that what was passed in 2012 applied only to 2012, and that the 2016 convention must pass its own rule determining nomination eligibilty.
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus confirmed Ginsbergs assessment on Sunday during a television interview. There will always be a perception problem if people continue to miss to not explain the process properly. So, the 2012 rules committee writes the rules for the 2012 convention. The 2016 rules committee writes the rules for the 2016 convention, he told CNN.

It’s really interesting to see who tosses rotten eggs at us on Easter.
They hope we are all distracted.
I agree with your sentiments with the exception that I’d never actively contribute to electing a traitor (in the literal sense) for President.
The GOP is dead to me.

If Trump gets 1237 delegates , Trump gets to make the convention rules because his delegates will vote to amend them or keep them. If no one gets a majority, the RNC executive committee gets to make the rules for convention 2016.
Its simple.
1237 baby!
Yep - Cruz, who was my original first choice, is turning into a cat's paw for the GOPe - any deals he thinks they have will be betrayed and it won't help us win the WH with a person who will actually go up against the problems that are ruining the Nation.
>>Be happy when he Don returns Congress to the Dems this Nov. and makes The Deals with Chuck Schumer.
You can believe that, but it doesn’t make it true. I’ll try to expand your mind a bit, so give this some thought: what if he does make deals with everyone, but does so with the intention of coming out ON TOP in each deal?
The current crop of GOP career politicians, including Ted The Messiah, always deal from a position of weakness even when they hold all the cards. They begin the negotiations with the idea that a draw is the best they can hope for and it goes bad from there.
I know that this is hard for you to understand because you’ve been institutionalized by the weakness of the GOPe (and Ted is one of those).
Break out of your box. Ignore the sound bites and explore the context. Think like a human did before the internet turned most people into high-functioning retards!
I heard that Jeff Sessions is going to be selected (check your tagline)
With the only box that will fix the problem and water the tree
Why thank you. Scum is allowing the uni-party to steal the nomination process and going along with it.
“GOP = Gone Old Party”
If you don’t mind, I’ll add another nomination:
GOP = Goodbye Oligarchy Poltroons
“Trump should have ran 3rd party if he didnt want to deal with Republican rules.”
The Republicans should not have Primaries or Caucuses if they do not plan to ABIDE by the rules they set up for them, just pick the candidate in a smoke-filled room, like the Libertarians do...SOME OF US made an effort to vote, as in millions of us.
We always thought we were BETTER than Communist nations, where voting means nothing...I guess that’s not true, at least with the Republican Primary process.
Even better!
Anyone heard that in 2012 Romney did NOT have the needed 1237 (or whatever was required that year) but was passed thru anyway...??? Course he had no real competition either.

Who’s “work” stolen, what “work” stolen? “Fudged” what? Did someone copyright the term Johnny Mailbags?
You and I both know that a) Kasich’s dad was a mailman, b) Both Kasich and his dad are named John, c) Kasich constantly touts his blue-collar background on the trail and at debates by mentioning that his father as a mailman...
So, poetic license allows me to create a moniker (an alias name) for John Kasich, Jr. (the son, the one running for POTUS). In this case, I called him Johnny Mailbags. I could have called him Johnny Mailman, or Mailbags Kasich, or Postmaster Johnny, or Johnny’s Dad was a Mailman Kasich (that’s a bit of a mouthful though).
You see, that’s the poetic license...the name creates the image of Kasich carrying the mail...that he’s striving to be seen as a hard-working, lunch-pail, blue-collar guy like his dad.
Your bud, the Donald, does this all the time...”Lyin Ted”, “Low-Energy Jeb”, “Little Marco”, etc. The nickname creates an effect...Trump already had such a moniker...”The Donald”, which he wholeheartedly embraces from what I’ve read.
But, I’ve got some new ones for the Donald...
Unstable Donald
Petty Tyrant Donald
I read another one yesterday (I think in the NY Post)...Pervy Donald...
You see, poetic license is everywhere...
Good one about the “English”...I sometimes have to translate things, especially for Trump supporters...but, now I’m certain that you get it! ;-)
Oh yeah, /s
Hell. Mutha (bleep). No.
If Trump is denied the nomination through dirty tricks, I am writing in his name and voting 3rd party for the rest of the races. I have no intention of voting for some Republican candidate who didn't go through the process and who's bosses called me and other Trump supporters stupid.
Nope. What that does is play into the GOPe's hands. It also gives them a scapegoat when their candidate loses.
The best thing Trump should do is remove himself from the spotlight. Don't campaign for, endorse, or donate to any other Republican candidates. Don't give any interviews about the presidential race. Go back to private life and ask the media to leave him alone.
The silence will be deafening and it'll destroy the GOP.
Trump needs to go third party today to negate the rino party forever. Blast the rino GOP to hell with the leftists they love and adore. The rino GOP is and should be dead and left to rot in the dustpan of history like the whigs that preceeded them.
Who is on the Rules Committee? Do we have any names?
Not so fast on those GOP women. That is pure hype. As a woman myself, I would be proud to have Trump lead this nation. Love Cruz, but he is better suited as a litigator or in justice.
Bump!!!!
