Poll Suggests Donald Trump Would Be Weak Candidate in November
Donald J. Trump would be the weakest Republican presidential candidate to face off against Hillary Clinton in a general election matchup, according to a new poll that shows Senator Ted Cruz and Gov. John Kasich as stronger nominees against the Democratic front-runner.
According to a survey from Quinnipiac University, Mr. Trump continues to be the most popular candidate with Republican voters, but he trails Mrs. Clinton in a hypothetical matchup by a margin of six percentage points, 46 percent to 40 percent. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.
Mr. Kasich, who has won only Ohio, his home state, so far, is the strongest against Mrs. Clinton, leading her by 8 points while Mr. Cruz trails Mrs. Clinton by 3 points.
The poll finds that Senator Bernie Sanders, who is also facing long odds in his race with Mrs. Clinton, would be the strongest Democratic candidate in matchups against Mr. Trump and Mr. Cruz, and he is essentially tied with Mr. Kasich.

I suppose if the Republicans ran Chelsea agdinst Hillary, some poll would say she would be a better candidate, too.
But the fact is, Cruz would get massacred against Hillary. Most Republican candidates with the exception of Cruz would beat Hilary, including Kasich, and uf course Trump would beat Hillary easily just as he took down Jeb Bush.
No one likes Lyin’ Ted, my wife is revolted when she just sees him and hates his voice which she compares to a the voice a rat would have if they could talk.
These polls are useless - just watch what happens after Trump gets the nomination, Hillary has no idea just how bad this is going to be this time. Frankly, she is a hag whp may not physically endure it.
what are the facts that point to a trump victory in November?
Just wondering.
not sure what you mean by the opinions of these polls either
The poll asks who someone would vote for in November. They answer. Their answer is factual in that RIGHT NOW they would vote for that person.
It can certainly change. But not sure where the opinion part is.
Ladies man teddy can always count on his 5 girlfriends for votes..
there was talk only about a week before the 2012 election of it being a “blowout” for Romney. and “no one” showing at Obama rallies.
then the youth turned out huge again and killed us.
gonna need a lot of blue collar white men to vote.
that’s his key to victory.
Point being, in march of 1980, Reagan was going to be obliterated by Carter. Al the polls said so.
and I remember about 50 or 60 hostages. Not hundreds. Anyway, the point wasn’t WHY Carter lost. Its that he lost in a freakin’ landslide. And 8 months before the vote, every poll you could find was predicting disaster for Reagan, the dull witted, actor, unqualified, candidate.
Just like this stack of polls presented here.
"We've Only Just Begun"
The denial here is staggering. I especially get a chuckle of the references to 1980 the Trumpalstilskins use to make it all be ok.
I will concede that alot can happen between now and the electio and that polls now do not mean Trump is going to win or lose in Nov.
But the Trumpalstilskins all live in a echo chamber which no facts must enter. In their echo chamber, the world is dancing to the rythym of the Donald’s words. The reality is Trump has a big problem with the general electorate and he’s going to have to work harder than Clinton to win the election
You really think the 2nd place Cruz can beat Hillary? Keep dreaming.
trump’s judgement....years of praising hitlery gonna be used by the dems
You really think the 2nd place Cruz can beat Hillary? Keep dreaming.

This isn’t about Cruz. This is about the GOP frontrunner losing to the most unqualified candidate, Clinton, to run for the presidency.
Every poll shows this. And with higher negatives than her.
I sort of disagree. Cruz would not be the worst, the worst the GOP could do is to put up Romney again, the second worst Bush, and then Cruz! But then again, I could be wrong, it could be Bush, Romney, Cruz, or Romney, Cruz, Bush, or Bush, Cruz, Romney . . . .
LOL
Give it up douchebag.
Wow’
A real, deep thoughtful response. Just like Trump. No wonder his negatives are rising and he loses to Hillary in every poll
The commie NY TIMES, huh?
If they believed it, they wouldn’t be pushing it.
You are spot on on how the Trumpkins have given us this political “Pearl Harbor” waiting to happen. But I dread to think he’ll be the nominee and we’ll have 4 years to clean up the mess. No, Hillary will change the federal judiciary for more than generation to come and this nation will be in the gutter beyond redemption if Trump become the nominee.
Were you born obnoxious or did you go to school for that?
You keep posting this same dribble day after day.
Shut off your computer and go get a life.
I am much more conservative than most anyone I know. Any political poll does not reflect how I vote and my core beliefs.
I am a realist. Trump is losing to Clinton in the polls because he is losing/has lost the majority of American voters including me. The majority of America does not exist in the echo chamber of sites like FR or the 15% of the people who listen to talk radio
Trump is going to lose and lose and worse then Mondale/Reagan.
Since Reagan, conservatives have said every election cycle give us a conservative, I have refused to vote for fake conservatives Romney et al Finally, the voters have taken choice of the nominee from the elite. But instead of choosing the conservative folks like me have been hoping for more than a quarter century the so called Conservative party in this Country is offering up another NY liberal.
Cruz doesn't vet out as conservative as I initially thought but he is miles ahead of Trump.
I'm coming to the conclusion that for conservatives if no candidate reaches the 1237 in Columbus then the convention has the opportunity to choose a true Conservative.
I don't have anyone in mind but there are many we have all lauded over the years and are frankly better choices than the so called conservatives running now....
True, these Trumpkins live in an echo chamber. But you’d think they’d wake up and ask themselves what British officer, Lieutenant Colonel Nicholson played by Alec Guinness said at the concluding scene of Bridge on the River Kwai, “My God what have I done.”
Trumpkins have given us a likely nominee who will go up in certain flames and yet they put their “Dear Leader” ahead of a true and proven conservative like Ted Cruze. They act like the three proverbial monkeys: “See no evil; speak no evil: and hear no evil” of their snake oil salesman.
