In a year of truly abysmal ideas this is easily the worst. Some on the right want to compile a blacklist to punish conservatives who support Donald Trump. They would prove their loyalty to conservative principles by acting like leftist thought police.
"It's time to make a list of so-called conservatives and Republicans endorsing Donald Trump," fumes Amanda Carpenter, formerly a senior speechwriter and communications consultant for both Sen. Jim DeMint and Ted Cruz. "Anyone who will defend a man condoning random acts of violence at his rallies has lost his morals; he will defend anything at all," Amanda intones.
"So I'd like to remember who supported Trump so I never again give any kind of credence to their judgment," writes Carpenter. Not having Amanda give credence to your judgment is a heavy burden to bear.
Matt Walsh who writes for The Blaze, adds, "I think we need to identify the traitors and remember their names" the "famous and once-respected conservatives (who) have gutted their credibility for a chance to latch themselves to Trump like barnacles on the Titanic." No more credence for barnacle-like credibility-gutters! Don't they teach young conservatives how to write any more?
How will the blacklist work? Will membership cards be revoked and secret decoder rings recalled? Maybe they won't get to be nattering noggins on FOX News and CNN. Possibly, horror of horrors, they won't be allowed to write for (what's the opposite of electrifying?) National Review and The Weekly Standard.
Trump-haters are to be distinguished from those merely opposed to the Donald. The haters are unhinged and given to off-the-wall charges: "Trump is Hitler." "Trump eats babies for breakfast." "Trump condones random acts of violence at his rallies."
The last is not just patently false; it's contemptible. The acts of violence at Trump rallies aren't random. They're premeditated and organized by the storm troopers of MoveOn.org and Black Lives Matter. There isn't a conservative speaker who hasn't experienced their savagery. (I did when the fascist scum disrupted a speech I tried to give at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst a few years ago.) To blame Trump for the mayhem is to exonerate the Soros goon squad.
I don't trust Donald Trump. He's the ultimate salesman who'll say anything to close the deal with voters. You might call me a Trump skeptic. A Trump hater is another animal.
Where were the calls to boycott the conservative sellouts who embraced Mitt Romney in 2012?
Romneycare was the model for Obamacare. Romney was the enabler of gay matrimony in Massachusetts, the first state whose judiciary redefined the institution. Its high court found a mandate for same-sex marriage in an 18th century constitution. Then-Governor Romney ordered clerks to begin issuing gay marriage licenses, as if the court's edict was constitutional and the people had spoken.
As governor, Romney consistently appointed judicial activists of both parties. As for his improbable conversion to the pro-life cause based on a mythical encounter with a Harvard stem-cell researcher (they were introduced by the Easter Bunny) if you believe that, you will believe anything.
Was there a blacklist of the opportunists who attached themselves to the SS Mitt many bought and paid for? Romney was generous in his donations to conservative groups.
Should pro-amnesty "conservatives" be blacklisted?
Illegal immigration is destroying our national identity, generating a crime wave and eliminating jobs for the working class. Are there any conservative principles more sacred than national security and public safety? So where are the calls to punish supporters of Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Boy Marco?
In Framingham, Massachusetts, over the weekend, four illegal aliens from Guatemala (two had been previously deported), raped a women and viciously beat her boyfriend. Jeb Bush says it was an "act of love" for the quartet to come here. John Kasich, who wants a blanket amnesty, says they are "made in the image of the Lord." In this sense, so was Jack the Ripper.
Who's going to tell Phyllis Schlafly, the founding mother of the modern conservative movement, that she's now persona non grata?
After eviscerating Republicans who passed Obama's $1.1 trillion omnibus budget bill ("If anyone needs more evidence of why the American people are suffering at the hands of their own government, look no further than the budget deal announced by Speaker Ryan."), Mrs. Schlafly observed: "It sounds like Donald Trump is the only one who has any fight in him. He will fight on the issues that we really care about... such as the immigration issue." That was before Christmas, by the way before the first primary vote was cast and the New Yorker began amassing delegates.
The end result of the Trump-haters' hysteria will be to push more conservatives into the billionaire's camp as an act of defiance. If the blacklist crowd understood anything, they'd know that a movement of individualists is the least likely to bow to intimidation.
Being “blacklisted” by people who have no power to really do anything to you is kind of funny. It is showing they have no power...they are lowly and needy. It’s like a two year old tossing a fit.
There ya go. One not need be a professional profiler to determine most of these folks are not what they seem.
trump started the blacklist now his supporters whine when its turned on them.
Mark Levin has been blacklisted by trumpsters.
Megyn Kelly blacklisted by trumpsters
Stazi.
>>Some on the right want to compile a blacklist
Who are this “some” —
Is their own misprision and complicity in the subversion of this Republic so heinously egregious that they fear being dragged out of their golden sarcophagi into the light of public scrutiny?
Cowards.
Unbellyfeelingingsoc!
If he doesn't, I will.
Follow the money. Sad to say but true.
Yep. Power and profit$ regardless of consequences.
I agree with this piece. I despise the whole idea of blacklisting Trump supporters. Amanda Carpenter should know better and it’s a damn shame she apparently doesn’t.
Like the writer, I don’t trust Trump and am deeply skeptical of his intentions. But that’s a long ways from hate.
It seems to me there’s going to be different backlash consequences on all sides. There will be those who vote for Trump just to spite the GOP and the Amanda Carpenters. But there will also be all the primary voters who didn’t vote for Trump and still don’t want him. What can he do to persuade them? He’s going to need those voters in November, yet he keeps up the “lyin Ted” day in and day out. This isn’t the way to bring disparate groups together.
People need to just stop it... It is hard enough battling against the nitwits on the left, why all the infighting on the right makes no sense, Trump hasn’t said anything at all that isn’t Conservative, he might be brash he might need some counsel but the GOP establishment needs to heed their own past calls for unity.... too many time when they ran their weak candidates we were told to unite for the greater good they can be the ones to hold their nose this time... won’t hurt them..
Don’t you have to win to enforce a blackballing?
Trump doesn’t want to be president. He wants his good friend Hillary to be president. If Cruz would win the nomination, he would probably donate to Hillary’s campaign, as he’s done in the past.
Never fear. If Trump wins, it is much more likely that the anti-Trump folks (like us) will be put on that 'list' destined for The Donald retribution. He's vindictive that way.
Here, let me help you out:
“It’s time to make a list of so-called conservatives and Republicans endorsing Donald Trump,” fumes Amanda Carpenter,.....
Matt Walsh who writes for The Blaze, adds, “I think we need to identify the traitors and remember their names” .....
Women are natural totalitarians, because motherhood is totalitarianism. What keeps them in check is a mother's love. But teach them to hate men, divorce their husbands and destroy their hearts with antidepressant brain melting chemicals, and you get... Hillary's Army.
No Conscience.
All hate, all the time.
And genuine appreciation for Stalin, along with BFF status for Alinsky.
They are why Western Civilization is teetering on the edge of collapse. And if they can, they'll shove it right off of the precipice, screeching with raucous bar laughter.
Lots of projection going on in this campaign—many who accuse Trump of all manner of things then go right out and engage in conduct of exactly the sort they decry.
“Trump isn’t conservative enough” (so I’ll start a blacklist to punish political enemies for thought crimes). “Trump isn’t the adult in the room, and is SO vulgar” (so I’ll publish naked photos of his wife). “Trump isn’t serious, he will run a third party campaign just to spite the GOP” (so I, Bill Cristol, will throw a fit and start a third party). “Trump has no respect for the party or the rules” (so we will do our best Al Gore imitation and try to manipulate the convention rules to game him out of the nomination).
And worst of all: “Trump cannot win the general election” (so I will make that come true and vote for Hillary Clinton, who stands against every single plank in the last 20 republican platforms). On and on and on.
Lying Levin is a Trojan horse ...he is a big phony ...
