OK. WE TOOK A DEEP BREATH AND DECIDED--NO TRUMP/CRUZ RECONCILIATION !! HERE IS SOME MATH.
March 17, 2016 | windhover

Posted on 03/17/2016 11:02:29 AM PDT by windhover

Here is "the" math "if": 1. Trump takes 53%,60% or 65% of remaining delegates from 21 states from 3/22 - 6/7; broken down by 11 Winner Take all States, with 597 delegates at stake. And: 2. 10 Proportionately Awarded states with 312 delegates.

Trump: 597 Winner Take All 312 Proportional Award

@53 @53% ---- ---- 316 Total Delegates 165 Total Delegates

316 Winner Take All 165 Proportional Award ---- 481 Total Delegates +673 Delegates Won Tru 3/15 OR: ---- 1,154 At 53% Remaining Delegates Total Delegates 597 +312 --- 909 Del. Left Winner Take All and Propor. @ 60% ---- 545 Total All Delegates +673 Won tru 3/15 ---- 1,218 Total Delegates at 60% OR: 909 Del. Left WTA/PA @65% ---- 590 Delegates left +673 Delegates won ---- 1,264 Total delegates @ 65%

I make no further judgments or prognostications except to say;an alliance of political enemies before the GOP convention would be really good insurance, no matter who you support. Even the best scenario will be close.

I have no agenda and will vote for either Trump or Cruz, and, like you, I have a preference; but this time everything is on the line. Please, for God's sake vote for one of them in the general election.

I have just finished reading your comment, RKBA, as I catch up on the thread.

What I am wondering is this - how many of us think that Cruz can beat Hillary if he gains the nomination. I think Trump will attract more cross-over voters from Independents and Democrats, and I doubt that Cruz will be able to do that.

His personality won’t appeal to them, even if he does his best to initiate Trump on the stump. His voice doesn’t wear well, and he has an annoying stammer.

I just wanted to quote this entire post and post it again, because it's totally dead on perfect.

In all fairness, the Cruz-ers began this with their smug remarks about cult-followers in a cult of personality, too ignorant to do otherwise, and how they were the only “pure” conservatives, intelligent and thoughtful, whereas the rest of us were emotional irrational fools, condescendingly calling the rest of us low-information, stupid, uneducated and probably democrats. You want to know why this was so nasty, look in the mirror. You and all the establishment pundits and elected hacks started the most vicious and cruel attack on Donald Trump and the people who support him, starting with John McCain, that I have ever seen in my going on 70 years on this earth. And although just a junior-high school student I do remember the attacks on Barry Goldwater, but even those attacks were not as, low, insulting and nasty as yours. And then the attacks on Ronald Reagan and his supporters, although appalling, again were not as nasty as the insults you dished out to your fellow Republicans.

Trump's return fire was far less vile than the cruel, hyperbolic, purple prose of the pundits and the superior attitude and arrogance of the media and the politicians. And I would like to point out the Romney never won a primary by as high a plurality as Trump has one, and Romney more than a few of the early primaries. As dishonest and dishonorable Romney destroyed each GOP candidate, the voters migrated toward the next in line and NEVER to Romney. Romney did not have enough delegates when he went to the convention but there was no talk then of a brokered convention then although about 80% of the base wanted would have preferred another candidate. Romney only had about 20% base support, probably Mormon and Scientologists.

When I look at how you Cruz people would inform us about how we knew nothing, I often wondered if you had been paying any attention at all in 2012, or maybe you just were not old enough.

A plurality is a plurality no matter how you look at it.

Everyone knew the rules going in to the game. it is to late to move the goal posts now.

Just work to get your guy over the threshold and there won’t be anything to worry about.

And for all of you people who were fooled into thinking Cruz was non-establishment, and an "outsider", in the face of a mountain of information proving otherwise..

Today, Senator Lindsey Graham announced his full-throated support for Senator Ted Cruz, to include giving Cruz access to Graham’s extensive donor and lobbying lists for financial support.

[…] Sen. Lindsey Graham will host a fundraiser on Monday in support of Sen. Ted Cruz.

I see a deal as a possibility. Although not a really strong one. The thing with a deal is that both parties need to have something that the other wants. I’m just not seeing it. Right now DT has a fair chance of getting the delegates he needs before he gets to Cleveland. If not, he can make a deal with any of several candidates. It also appears that DT doesn’t have much to offer if cruz doesnt want VP or scotus.

Maybe I’m missing something.

I agree, Trump cannot choose Cruz for VP. The birther stuff alone is a huge risk.

Cruz could redeem himself by sticking it to the GOPe during the brokered election by saying he supports Trump!

When the Main Stream Media does not cover a story about what someone says or does and it is only on liberal progressive websites (one woman I know thinks the contrails of jets are being used to poison the nation-called chemtrails) you can be sure it needs a real interrogation.

If the theology of a people sounds like it goes against the Character of God (the God I know would not do that or recommend that because it is not who He is) then it is time to do some serious scripture study. Like the rapture theology, it will not be logical.

Same here. Started off with Cruz, switched to Trump but will still vote for Cruz although it will be tough if it is via a contested convention.

Still better than a totalitarian socialist democrat swine. Had enough the past 7 years.

Thank you for your reply. I do agree with you on substance, and believe that Donald must bring over the blue collar Dems;as well as keep those of us who know that Hillary will be the last of an America we still hope for. We must, also, remove the Elite Party leadership and restore a Two Party System again, if we are to survive.

We must avoid being rolled on the first ballot if we can forge an alliance with Cruz. He might agree to SCOUTUS. Trump is a master at this. It will be close.

It’s my understanding that Trump was spreading the donations around - and not just to democRATS.

Big picture is that outside of nice places like FR, the population just isn’t that conservative. If it were, we would be talking about VP Palin’s candidacy right now.

Ted just doesn’t have the appeal outside of a very conservative crowd. His voice is not his fault, but it is grating. He would be a designated loser if he were somehow to weasel into the nomination.

So glad you agree!

Cruz will never leave the Senate to accept a VP role and travel around to attend funerals. The SC is where he belongs and those gasbag Senators want to be rid of him anyway!

Perhaps SCOTUS. Think how easily he would be confirmed by the Senate(if we hold it)by those who want to see him go. He would be a genuine conservative vote.

Frankly I don’t want to see Teddy as anything but a private citizen. But if sticking him on the scotus is the way to elect DT and prevent a future....unpleasantness... then that’s a bill I’d happily pay.
