Ted Cruz vows to mock Trump at AIPAC for skipping Fox News debate
CNN ^ | March 16, 2016

Ted Cruz on Wednesday mocked Donald Trump for bowing out of a debate next week in Salt Lake City, and the Texas senator vowed to call out the GOP front-runner at a gathering of a major pro-Israel lobby group next week.

Trump said earlier in the day that he would not participate in the Fox News debate in Utah on Monday, and John Kasich quickly said that he wouldn't attend if Trump didn't. Later on Wednesday, Fox News formally canceled the event.

Trump said he would use his time instead on Monday to address a conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the prominent pro-Israel group. Cruz's campaign said in a statement Wednesday that Cruz would use his time at the same conference to "highlight Trump's positions -- or lack thereof -- in front of the thousands of AIPAC members in attendance."

"Let's be intellectually honest about what's going on here -- Donald Trump is scared to debate Ted Cruz next week,"

I’m glad you’ve found a way to be happy.

You trumpers are so emotionally invested in this unworthy scammer that I seriously wonder about your mental health when he loses.

Nope. You’re projecting again.

Trumpers are issue oriented. Build the wall, unfair trade, strong defense, etc.

OTOH, only emotionally overwrought Cruzers think it’s principled and conservative to speculate what may be in your opponents taxes.

Oh Trump most definitely DID say his supporters would riot if he did not get the nomination. Your IGNORANCE of that fact does not negate that it happened. Google (or Duck-Duck-Go) is your friend—check things out before you accuse people of being a troll...

Sorry Charlie...I did watch and Trump did NOT say his people would riot...

My greatest problem with Trump, however, is that I think he’s going to get destroyed in the general election.

What's the alternative? Cruz proved yesterday he has no chance of flipping Florida or Ohio. And he's painted himself into such a tight ideological corner that he could never add a moderate like Kasich to his ticket to increase his electability.

Maybe for you. I guess you dwell on such things. The voters don’t luckily. The overall like what they see from Trump and voted appropriately. I don’t care what anyone says, last night Trump won the nomination. It is over. Cruz can yell and scream all he wants but it is over. Cruz did not manage to do anything last night. It was pitiful and you know it. He should be embarrassed and drop out.

There’s only one person more scared than Trump to debate Ted Cruz one on one... Hillary.

That is obvious. But one can understand why Ducking Donald would chicken out. He’s got a lead and wants to sit on it. Being exposed for his lack of substance and having to face his intellectual superior on closer to a one-on-one level must frighten Donald.

Nothing says substance like turning a question on Cuba into a smear on Trump. Trump doesn’t want Fox’s gotcha questions and Cruz’s slime buckets. Deal with it.

I was looking foreword to a small format debate.
Not as many interruptions and hopefully solid policy talk.

It would be much better without the mailman but he doesn't interrupt just to int-erupt.

I don't blame trump for ducking. He has nothing to gain and his usual Schick would look ungracious at this point. You cant blame Cruz for calling him out on it.

Fox decided to add a 13th debate last week. There were only supposed to be 12according to RNC. Trump was well within his rights to not give up on a previously scheduled event. Ted is rotten in my opinion.

“Cruz is an insult to America and the Constitution.
This guy needs to be rebuked in the mightiest fashion.

I am disgusted that so many Americans are deceived by this Serpent.”

Why?

This is that awkward moment when the guy who’s supposedly the closest thing to Hitler in the field gets invited to AIPAC.

Cruz outperformed polling by plenty.
I think the only place he dropped more than 2 points was Florida.
Other than that he did very well. I think he picked up almost 15 points overall.

That means the ridiculous meme that he somehow lost support is a fabrication of the fevered minds of trump supporters here on FR.

Two questions for you:

1. How is Cruz NOT a conservative?

2. What demonstrates that Trump is a true conservative?

Trump is winning with Conservatives and Evangelicals ...he’s beating Cruz in those categories ...most of us know Trump is a Conservative ...Trump staked out the most Conservative positions and is winning on them, as well as bringing many new voters into our ranks ..Cruz couldn’t do that on his best day ... you sound mad that Cruz’s snake oil sales pitch isn’t working ...

Concur; it is evident in the campaigns' slogans:

Make America Great Again vs. TrusTed

the former is about the ideas to renew the country and the latter is about a man who wants to be President

>>People will view him as creepy. If you want electability go for Kasich; he can beat Hillary, unless of course he is her running mate.

Wherever I go, I have met no one in my entire town who wants Cruz. When the election topic is brought up, and the candidates discussed, the reaction to Cruz is always the same. They consistently find him naturally repellent and say he was someone that they have never considered and do not wish to do so.

Kasich? OMG can you imagine having to listen to him as President? O might as well stay there, it wouldn’t be any different. I’d never vote for the Instant Sominex, Illegal Amnesty Giver, Karate Kid. Besides, I don’t think he has been FULLY vetted yet.
