The FReeper Canteen Presents... Happy St Patrick's Day
Canteen Mission Statement
Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, his religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over a thousand years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink, and feaston the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.

Today, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated by people of all backgrounds in the United States, Canada, and Australia. Although North America is home to the largest productions, St. Patrick's Day has been celebrated in other locations far from Ireland, including Japan, Singapore, and Russia.

The Chieftains ~ An Gaoth Aneas
In modern-day Ireland, St. Patrick's Day has traditionally been a religious occasion. In fact, up until the 1970s, Irish laws mandated that pubs be closed on March 17. Beginning in 1995, however, the Irish government began a national campaign to use St. Patrick's Day as an opportunity to drive tourism and showcase Ireland to the rest of the world.
Last year, close to one million people took part in Ireland 's St. Patrick's Festival in Dublin, a multi-day celebration featuring parades, concerts, outdoor theater productions, and fireworks shows.
Please remember that The Canteen is here to support and entertain our troops and their families, and is family friendly.

WELCOME TO THE
Good morning, Everyone.
Good morning to our
Military, our Allies, and their families.
Thank you, Ma, for preparing the Canteen
for today's activities.
Good news: I got my laptop open,
but I've been so scared off turning it off,
that I have left it on, in sleep mode, for days.
I'm going to have to call someone to take a look at it.
But I hate to be without my laptop for days.
Gotta catch up on pings,
and have another cup of coffee before starting my day.
Please stay and
keep the troops entertained
and clean the party mess before you leave.
Remember, the Canteen is
So, come on in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea,
pancakes, conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS

It's going a little more quieter this morning than at about this time yesterday.
As I mentioned yesterday much of our town of Comanche OK. (The South and East sides as well as home East of town on Hwy. 53) lost power twice yesterday. The first time was in the morning so the city utility crews could put up a new pole. The second time was in the afternoon so they connect the pole to the line.
This is supposedly to cut down on the frequency of the outages that we have had to deal with in our part of town.
We did enjoy our time out at the lake yesterday. Saw quite a few people out there. Made both those trips during the outages.
Today, Bo is to get his annual rabies shots at the vet in addition monthly dose of anti-flea repellent.
And, we may get some rain today and tomorrow. It's in the forecast.
