Should Trump and Cruz unite with we the people against the establishment uni-party?

Posted on 03/16/2016 1:31:00 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

The biggest plus is a Trump/Cruz ticket would immediately secure the nomination for us (the majority of the right-leaning grassroots voters), end any possibility of a GOPe betrayal at the convention, and would ensure the Republican party is finally with we the grassroots people (tea party, conservatives, religious people, economic conservatives, business people, middle class, blue collar, national security patriots, etc, ie, a rebirth of the Reagan Coalition) and against the globalist GOP big government establishment. It’d be a yuuuge middle finger to the elite ruling classes of both parties.

And it would have coattails guaranteeing a pro-America landslide against the America-hating Marxists and a strengthening of the Republican majority in the congress and in local and state governments. And finally begin a return to constitutional, pro-America, pro-free-market government and a reversal of the slide into godless socialism and globalism.

A mandate from we the people to secure the borders, enforce the law, deport the illegals, end sanctuary cities, end the war on Christianity, cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the regulations, end the war on American industry, end the war on coal gas & oil, bring back a growing economy, bring back manufacturing and jobs, and rebuild the military.

Unlike the GOPe, this is what real Americans want and what both candidates propose doing.

So let’s quit bickering, join forces, and make it happen.

With all the insults and attacks against Trump on this thread, it had become a complete waste of time.

~~Go Trump, GO!!~~

You’re blaming Trump because Cruz’s eligibility is unclear? How does that work? Trump said at one of the early debates he wanted Ted to get a court declaration so that he could appoint him VP, and also so that in case Cruz gets nominated for Pres or VP, that the Democrats couldn’t use it against him in the General. That was helpful advice.

Meanwhile, Ted said he didn’t even realize he was still a Canadian citizen until a couple of years ago, even though he is a sitting Senator. That just doesn’t ring true. And the questions about his eligibility are a matter of fact, not just some nasty rumor Trump made up.

Cruz’s career is of a Constitutional Lawyer. If you didn’t intend to go to the SCOTUS if the option became available, why did you choose that career path. I can understand being in the Judiciary or Legislature (Senate or HoR) with a Constitutional Law background, but not the Executive Branch.

“Also, there is a Cruz sex scandal bubbling up.”

Bigger than the multiple Trump sex scandals? I doubt it.

That is true. My one question to you is: Why do you not have the moderators take a harder line against some of these people and their comments?

I cannot stand that trouble maker but I wanted to hear Cruz. I don’t think Cruz would accept Trump’s offer to
be VP if offered. We shall see soon I hope.

on reflection, you are correct it was a likely leak. My impression at the time was that the guy patting himself on the back for being there and “telling”

Yes, so then it would have been an idiot newsbag on Carson's or Cruz's staff, since he didn't know that Trump is a nice person before this. Hope nobody appoints him to anything.

If you didn’t intend to go to the SCOTUS if the option became available, why did you choose that career path.

If someone wanted to be a Supreme Court justice, then they should look to get a judgeship at some level. He did do two clerkships which would have been on the right path. But after that, nothing.

I can understand being in the Judiciary or Legislature (Senate or HoR) with a Constitutional Law background, but not the Executive Branch.

It is my understanding our current President has a Constitutional law background.

Yeap, our President also was a first term Senator, amongst other similarities between them. Since we already went down this path once with 0bama, I would rather not repeat it with Cruz.

It would take AWAY far MORE supporters from Trump, than that would garner supporters to him.

“So you think Trump Supporters have distaste for Cruz so much, they wouldn’t vote for Trump if Cruz was on the ticket.”

At the time the vote took place not long after the Iowa election most of the candidates were still in the race. Opposition to Ted Cruz and/or Marco Rubio did not automatically leave Trump as the only viable alternative. I was not endorsing or committed to Trump and neither were most of the voters. They were split among a number of candidates, including Trump. The one issue they tended to agree upon was distrust of Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio. Kasich was attractive to some and adamantly opposed by others. When I proposed to sit out this election and not serve as a delegate, I made it clear that I could represent them in support of any lawful GOP candidate they chose, but not any unlawful candidate.

“So you think Trump Supporters have distaste for Cruz so much, they wouldn’t vote for Trump if Cruz was on the ticket.”

Characterizing the voters opposed to Ted Cruz as “Trump Supporters” is a strawman argument, because they were actually supporting a variety of the candidates and not just Trump. Yes, many or perhaps even most of the voters in our caucus were so incensed against the GOPe, they vowed to vote for an Independent or not vote at all rather than be forced to vote for another Bush, McCain, or Romney just to avoid the Democrat candidate. I asked for a show of hands in our caucus to see how many were opposed to the GOPe and its candidates, and every hand in the room shot up against the GOPe. I asked the same question about Jeb Bush, and every hand shot up. When it came to Cruz, the supermajority were opposed. The same question about Trump saw only the small minority of Cruz supporters opposed, and perhaps one Rubio supporter. The few Kasich supporters were opposed to Cruz under any circumstances, but they were flexible with respect to Trump. I cannot overemphasize the disgust there was in the room with Cruz after the affairs that went on in the Iowa election. It really soured the opinions of all but the handful of Cruz supporters in the room. I haven’t been in contact with most of those voters since the caucus, but those few I have talked to are even more motivated against Cruz due to his more recent rhetoric they believe is disgustingly dishonest. For every non-Trump voter Cruz has attracted with his recent rhetoric, he has alienated many more voters who otherwise would have considered Cruz as a viable alternative to Trump. Bottomline, Cruz is shooting himself not only in the foot, but also in the mouth with his campaign rhetoric.

I think it would be smarter for Trump to turn toward someone like Rick Santorum for VP. He would be embraced by the party as a good choice.

I’m not doubting that Cruz is a goon especially due to his recent actions, my original comments were in context to a Cruz Supporter saying that many Trump Supporters would never vote for a Trump/Cruz Ticket. I personally do not support such a ticket due to numerous reasons, but in the highly unlikely event it happened, I would still vote for Trump. That is the point I’m making.

You think VP Bush had to “beat” the GOPe. VP Bush WAS the GOPe.

After Reagan was coerced into accepting Bush on the ticket, Bush repaid Reagan by trying to have him murdered less than a year later.
