The biggest plus is a Trump/Cruz ticket would immediately secure the nomination for us (the majority of the right-leaning grassroots voters), end any possibility of a GOPe betrayal at the convention, and would ensure the Republican party is finally with we the grassroots people (tea party, conservatives, religious people, economic conservatives, business people, middle class, blue collar, national security patriots, etc, ie, a rebirth of the Reagan Coalition) and against the globalist GOP big government establishment. Itd be a yuuuge middle finger to the elite ruling classes of both parties.
And it would have coattails guaranteeing a pro-America landslide against the America-hating Marxists and a strengthening of the Republican majority in the congress and in local and state governments. And finally begin a return to constitutional, pro-America, pro-free-market government and a reversal of the slide into godless socialism and globalism.
A mandate from we the people to secure the borders, enforce the law, deport the illegals, end sanctuary cities, end the war on Christianity, cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the regulations, end the war on American industry, end the war on coal gas & oil, bring back a growing economy, bring back manufacturing and jobs, and rebuild the military.
Unlike the GOPe, this is what real Americans want and what both candidates propose doing.
So lets quit bickering, join forces, and make it happen.
I guess I'm one of the "delusional" ones. I've never been against Trump for personal reasons even though I've been unimpressed with Trump since I first looked at "The Art Of The Deal" when I was in high school. I'm also not against Trump for emotional reasons although I've chaffed at his personal attacks on Cruz and others. I'm against Trump because of what I perceive to be his humanist, statist, nationalistic and authoritarian worldview as opposed to Cruz's Christian, Constitutional, liberty loving, small government and free-market worldview. I also believe that Trump has a dangerously volatile demeanor that could get us into perilous trouble.
Both men could prove my perceptions and opinions wrong. Cruz could do it in a second by compromising or being co-opted. Trump could do it in about four years if he wins and his record bears good fruit.
I would be in favor of them collaborating to ensure that the GOPe does not steal the nomination. The will of the people must not be violated even if that means Trump is the nominee because he gets the most votes/delegates.
I would heartily join the Trumpsters in looking for a third party candidate (not Cruz or Trump) if the GOPe does manage to steal it.
From the vast majority of posters I see here on Free Republic, Bernie Sanders would make a more acceptable VP than Ted Cruz.
That’s where you need to try to think as a non-Trump supporter. Cruz never “blamed” Trump for the riot. He blamed the protesters. He then made a broader point, which is very reasonable, that candidates have a responsibility to be careful about not saying things that could contribute to a climate of violent rhetoric, as Trump has done repeatedly.
It’s like when you have a couple of kids, and the older one is always teasing the younger one. Eventually, the younger one punches the older one in the eye. The answer is to tell the younger one “that was wrong” and punish him for it, but you’d be remiss in your duties as a parent if you didn’t tell the older one “and stop teasing him.”
And I swore I'd never do it again. And I couldn't be tempted. I don't have the slightest inclination.
It’s about COMPROMISE!
And I didn’t sign on for that!
No possible way. Too late. Trump and his dirty tricks can fight it out on his own.
No, heck no, he!! no.
They should team up and fight this BS together. Boehner was out there calling him lucifer today. Ted better wake up.
No, heck no, he!! no.
DITTO!!
cRuz brings nothing to the table.
You don’t think our Founding Father compromised with each other?
It’s about uniting to stop the planned GOPe treachery at the convention and about defeating the godless Marxist democrats in the general.
It’s about securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity!
No, they can’t technically pool their delegates.
Cruz can though, issue a statement saying he is (1) dropping out of the race for president (which frees his delegates to vote for anyone) and (2) say he wants all of his former delegates to vote for Trump.
They will probably go into the convention with over 80% of the delegates between them. For grins, let’s say Trump has 45% and Cruz 35%. Trump’s 45% are bound on the first ballot. That means they only need enough of Curz’s delegates to go along with the plan to add 5% + 1 to Trump’s totals to secure the nomination.
I’m not sure how loyal Cruz’s delegates are to Cruz. But I suspect there will be enough delegates loyal to Cruz (over the party machinery) to make the plan work.
And, the plan will be out in the open. Vote for Trump to ensure a Trump/Cruz ticket vs a non-Trump/non-Cruz ticket.
I don’t care who Trump would put on his ticket. Just having him at the top is enough to turn off enough people that it goes nowhere.
Maybe it's because the Trump is clearly winning.
But I'm a Cruz supporter that is glad most Trumpsters are against it because it's unprincipled and they don't need each other except in one respect that requires no quid-pro-quo: deny the GOPe the nomination. Which ever, of the two, gets the most votes/delegates should get the nomination and the other candidate should support that determination on principle NOT as a deal.
If Trump can get all the disillusioned Democrats he says he can get in the general, then he does not need the principled Cruz conservatives and I hope Cruz does not think he has us to offer because it's a no-go.
Yes! It would be by far the best scenario in my view.
Not only for now but looking down the road to get the country on the right track and drive a stake through the heart of the GOPe.
This would be perfectly fine with me. If it helps lead to victory. It certainly gives them Texas and that is Yuge !!
Yeah, but door still open to other things for Cruz.

I have to agree, Jim. We have to do what's best for our country, regardless of our desire for the perfect candidates. Sometimes, being a patriot means recognizing that our own personal feelings may be leading us away from the bigger picture and the ability to accurately see what must be done. We can't lose sight now.
