Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said on Friday that Donald J. Trump bore responsibility for “creating an environment” that encourages violence at his events.
Speaking to reporters at a local Republican dinner outside Chicago, where Mr. Trump had just canceled a rally amid fierce confrontations between his supporters and protesters, Mr. Cruz began by saying that the “protesters who took violence into their own hands” were responsible for the episode.
“But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top,” Mr. Cruz continued. “And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.”
Mr. Cruz invoked the protests and violent police run-ins at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and predicted that future skirmishes were likely.
“When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates,” Mr. Cruz said. “And today is unlikely to be the last such instance.”

I watched Cruz live. The NYT story is accurate.
Has Cruz told his supporters that he'd like to punch a protester in the face? Has a Cruz supporter then punched a protester in the face? Has Cruz offered to pay the legal bills of his supporters who assault protesters? If not, then, your comparison is not valid.
Thugs come to a rally with the intent to disrupt it and it is Trump's fault that they are thugs?

I used to think Ted might make a good President, and it turns out, he might make one, but he will never BE one.
Trump has never condoned violence. But Cruz gave license to mob violence against Trump and your fellow conservatives. Literally justifying their violence against us. You have become very twisted up if you can condone that despicable act in any way.

The truth is, there is no violence at Trump rallies. I have watched almost all of them.
Huge crowds of great people, old, young, all walks of life.
This meme that there is violence is all made up by the crowd who attended the Sea Island hate Trump cartel meeting.

Now a 2nd event has been cancelled - this in Cincinnati. Secret Service = says they can’t finish prep in time. Cruz is probably rubbing his hands with glee.

Also, Cruz is the candidate in this race who is the farthest from the GOPe...they hate him more that PT Barnum Trump! In fact, Trump is more a part of the establishment in Washington with his $$$ millions in campaign contributions to Democrats over the years...

It is embarrassing reading these comments defending the dear leader calling for violence against protesters.
