Ted Cruz Says Donald Trump Is to Blame for Violence at His Rallies
NY Times ^ | 3/11/16 | Matt Flegenheimer

Posted on 03/12/2016 4:53:30 AM PST by jimbo123

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said on Friday that Donald J. Trump bore responsibility for “creating an environment” that encourages violence at his events.

Speaking to reporters at a local Republican dinner outside Chicago, where Mr. Trump had just canceled a rally amid fierce confrontations between his supporters and protesters, Mr. Cruz began by saying that the “protesters who took violence into their own hands” were responsible for the episode.

“But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top,” Mr. Cruz continued. “And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.”

Mr. Cruz invoked the protests and violent police run-ins at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and predicted that future skirmishes were likely.

“When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates,” Mr. Cruz said. “And today is unlikely to be the last such instance.”

I can’t believe how many of my political friends support him....They can’t see it.

Hey, Groucho. What do you think about the non-stop, 24/7 bashing, defamation and demonization of Ted Cruz (and his supporters) that's been going on here at Free Republic, The Premier Conservative Site on the Net, for the past month (or longer) now?

F’ You, Ted.

If you weren’t such a feckless loser, these animals would be going after people in your crowds.
These animals do not think the law applies to them, do not respect the rights of others to speak and assemble.

This has been going on for five years —
Mr Trump Did Not start it.

I want to personally thank all of the former Cruz supporters who have stood up for the Constitution and against the thugs on the left by letting their disgust over his remarks be known to everyone here at Free and pledging their vote to Mr. Trump.

You are great American patriots.

he's calculating that the PR he gets by unmasking the "peaceful protestors" will be good for his campaign.

Actually I don't have a problem with that either, and I hope he says as much in a speech today.

He should publicly connect the dots with the Ferguson riots and Obama's murdering domestic savages of Chicago....all victims of RAT public policy and betrayal.

All three Cruz, Rubio, and Kasick blame the victim of this organized attack. Bill Ayers is taking credit for it. Why don’t they blame Obama.

They bring a knife, we bring a gun.
All three need to drop out.

Will they be happy when one of these thugs take out Trump?
They rushed the stage today.

“New York Times.

Just saying.

The single most influential leftist newspaper, on the entire planet.”

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I don't have a problem with it either. I do have a problem with attacking people who say he's responsible having provoked it, when it's entirely possible that he is.

a leftist leader who talks a big game but apparently cuts and runs at the first sign of trouble.

There would have been killings and blood in the streets. The BLM, ANSWER thugs were there to kill and maim regular non-combat voters.

They need to be taken on by local LEOs, snipers, and Federal Marshalls.

“But Cruz has shown himself to be useless by his remarks last night.”

He sure has. He is fully embraced by the GOPe. Ted has sold his soul to the GOPe. Neil Bush is now running things.

“Ted Cruz joined the fascist brown shirts in Chicago. He is a disgrace.”

If a couple come up on stage I bet Ted hands the microphone over to them. Can’t have any type of violence. We have to succumb to the protesters per Ted so there is no violence.

I have watched Trump getting interrupted by these loudmouth protesters and have to wait till they are escorted out before he can finish his train of thought.

For the record, I have watched nearly every Trump rally and there have only been a couple of the more violent type protester in the crowd. And I have heard Trump say numerous times, “Don’t hurt them,” “Be careful with him/her,” as the authorities and the audience have to deal with them.

>>> Trump has been advocating violence against his opposition

I call BS. You make it sound like he is sending his legions to seek out the “opposition” and instigate violence. Just the opposite of reality, where he refers to HIS OWN PRIVATE EVENTS, where no opposition even possesses a 1st amendment right to protest. It is the opposition trampling HIS 1st amendment right.

This may well seal the nomination for Trump. Ted exposed himself as part of the appeasement, GOPe, anything-to-win crowd.

Cruz has been this way all the time. He's a "RIH" rino in hiding. Just look at what he did to the doctor and then trying to do the same thing to marco,(they are getting out of the race, vote for me, don't waste your vote--what BS)he thinks nothing of lying, it's in his DNA.
