Ted Cruz Says Donald Trump Is to Blame for Violence at His Rallies
NY Times ^ | 3/11/16 | Matt Flegenheimer

Posted on 03/12/2016 4:53:30 AM PST by jimbo123

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas said on Friday that Donald J. Trump bore responsibility for “creating an environment” that encourages violence at his events.

Speaking to reporters at a local Republican dinner outside Chicago, where Mr. Trump had just canceled a rally amid fierce confrontations between his supporters and protesters, Mr. Cruz began by saying that the “protesters who took violence into their own hands” were responsible for the episode.

“But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top,” Mr. Cruz continued. “And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.”

Mr. Cruz invoked the protests and violent police run-ins at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and predicted that future skirmishes were likely.

“When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates,” Mr. Cruz said. “And today is unlikely to be the last such instance.”

So Trump say basically “fight back” if you encounter a violent protester, and, therefore, this massive protest is all Trump’s fault. Sounds like the Leftist version of blaming America for 9-11 and the whole radical Islam thing. The protesters, probably organized by leftist groups like move-on.org, were there because they hate Trump, so if you want to look at it that way, maybe it is Trump’s fault - for finally standing up for what’s right.

These Leftist thugs hate Trump because he is communicating something very clear: don’t try to disrupt our rallies and meeting and don’t try to bully us around. It’s about time America had a non-politically correct leader like that. When America stands up for herself and says “Don’t Tread On Me”, America is not to blame if her enemies attack her and those attackers get what they deserve.

There are too many nuts on FR who own guns!

Everything you've ever said on FR now has no credibility. You belong on DU where Evil Black Guns scare the begeezus out of them.

And that is inciting supporters to violence?

That's a new low, even for you.

@TedCruz “Looks like our staunch Constitutionalist doesn’t give a damn about the 1st Amendment. Way to blame the victim there, #Cruz “ #trump

If you have not noticed, what Ted said poked the bear too.

Losing 200,000 on his Twitter is an example.

On a smaller scale, look at how many Cruz fans have switched
to Trump.

If that is an example of what is going on in a larger national scale,
Cruz is is big trouble.

Which is why this will not end well for Cruz.

Cruz is not the loser in all this

The Cubanadian and the other anchor baby cannot serve as president, that leaves Trump and Kasich.

The "annointed one" isn't looking real good at this point.

A major mistake by Cruz.
His chances for the nomination just evaporated,
not that they were good in any case.

I can’t help but see echos of the Weimar Republic
in all this. There will be blood and it is on
the hands of the far left.

Reminds me of when Trump blamed Pamela Gellar for taunting Muzzies with her Mohammed cartoon contest.

“It’s inescapable now. You and Cruzer are in bed with BLM.

As W said after 9/11, you’re either with us or with the terrorists. You’re either with Trump on this or you’re with BLM. Not a hard choice. but you’ve made it.”

Damnit Cruz... my husband’s niece was at that rally in Chicago. She and her bf are late deciders and wanted to hear what Trump had to say in person. What a huge FAIL on Ted’s part not to stand up for free speech rights.

What the hell are you even talking about? The only violence that has occurred was the 78 year old 130 pound man hitting that BLM guy (which Fox News continues to show over and over as evidence of the ‘violence’ of Trump supporters).

Where are all the White Supremacist rioters at Bernie and Hillary

White Supremacists aren't "our guys" they're RATs. Why would they be disrupting the Socialist's rallies?

When I saw what Ted said this morning I nearly fell out of my chair. It does appear to be a very coordinated effort to destroy Trump that extends far and wide. I hope if backfires hard. It certainly backfired with me. I stated out supporting Cruz above Trump. But the last couple weeks was really hoping for Trump as this mess evolved.

After last night, with the networks and now our own candidates blaming Trump for those toxic brats I am furious. I am very glad and proud of how Trump is handling this whole thing and pray for his quick and hopefully easy win as President. God Speed and care.
