This is quite stunning even for a politician as low as Ted Cruz. Senator Cruz has a prime opportunity to highlight the intolerance of the left. Instead he choses to attack Donald Trump:
At a media availability in Chicago, Ted Cruz basically blamed Donald Trump for the violence and protests that occurred earlier in the day at a Donald Trump rally at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Riight. It was the other Ted Cruz what said it. [rolls eyes]
I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Most Freepers know he’s a Cruzinista sycophant and pay him no mind .
Welcome to the Trump Train!
If suddenly all need to find facts is out the window and you want to side with the real enemy of the truth (the media) have at. You will get the government you deserve.
The Cruz Ship lost its ballast and is taking on water fast!
I was for either and donated to Cruz 4 times.
Cruz has been dirty and getting worse since Iowa. I am sad about this ad Ted is dead to me.
If Trump gets the nomination, we will all see the ad with a video of Trump's punch statement and the supporter punching someone over and over again.
I agree that Trump and all the candidates have the right to hold rallies and will defend that right. I also am familiar with the organized protests from the left encountering them at demonstrations in 2001 when our nation took action against Al Queda.
"America" doesn't protect you from believing double talk, so sure, you can pick what you want, but your credibility is forfeit if that's what you choose.
No amount of kabuki dancing is going to change the fact that Cruz is blaming both the offenders and their target.
Your refusal to acknowledge that fact, no matter how hard you spin and parse, isn't going to change that.
Wow. If Trump does end up going against Hillary, she might not have to do much, just sit back and let these so called conservatives campaign for her. Although I picked Cruz to support, I always am committed to defeating the left, no matter who our nominee is.
WTF did I say? Read my post again.
I said "He blamed the organizers for the violence. He blamed the candidate for the tone of his campaign."
It is right here for all to see. You prove my point.
Then you say "Your refusal to acknowledge that fact, no matter how hard you spin and parse, isn't going to change that."
What refusal? Your refusal to see what I said is all that is in evidence here.
As I was just posting to you, on the news a protester just grabbed Trump’s leg at his rally and his protection had to surround him.
All I see is you doubling down on double-talk.
He didn’t mention Trump by name but he clearly put the blame on him. What other campaign could Cruz be talking about?
Trump rented that facility. It was his. Do we want a Dukakis who won’t defend his own loved ones in his own house?
This is quite possibly so. Wouldn't surprise me.
He absolutely did not say Trump was responsible for the incident. He, in fact, said that the responsibility lies with the protesters. Go re-check the audio; you should hear it.
He ALSO talked about the culture of violence and intolerance that seems to surround the Trump campaign, whether it’s Trump himself or his aides. That is something Trump should address.
Do you also think Netinyahu should address the culture of violence he creates by speaking? Do you think Cruz would blame Netinyahu? Do you think Israelis have firefights to exist than Americans?
Your reasoning is flawed.
Netanyahu is not creating any suh environment - the Palestinians are.
BTW, the LAST thing Ted Cruz is is “opportunist.” He’s stood on principle his entire career.
Unlike the other three candidates in this race.
Which is exactly what Cruz said.
