There are only a few days left for Republican bed-wetters to stop Donald Trump from steamrolling his way to the presidential nomination via Florida and Ohio, and if Thursday nights CNN Republican Presidential Debate is any indication, its not gonna happen. There was one moment that went largely unnoticed, though, and it perfectly demonstrates why hes winning.
It came about an hour into the debate, as Ted Cruz was launching into one of his patented Eighth-Grader-Reciting-His-Book-Report-As-Though-Its-A-Shakespeare-Sonnet routines about how ideologically immune he is to special interests, a linchpin of his appeal, when Trump casually destroyed him. The key here is not what Trump said, but the way Cruz literally throws up his arms in surrender when hes done:
CRUZ: When I went to Iowa and campaigned against ethanol mandates, everyone said that was political suicide. You cant take on ethanol in Iowa. And my opponents on this stage not only didnt do the same. They attacked me and even promised to expand corporate welfare. If were going to stop bankrupting our kids and grandkids, youve got to be willing to take on the lobbyists
TRUMP: if you look back to Iowa, Ted did change his view and his stance on ethanol quite a bit. He did and at the end. Not full on, but he did change his view in the hopes of maybe doing well. And you know, I think everybody knows that. It was a front page story all over the place, and he did make a change.
BASH: Senator Cruz?

I love these unbiased straight news stories.
It was an awful debate for Ted.
Good point. It was a typical oily nonsense
from a Harvard lawyer (again) ... and false (again).

[It was an awful debate for Ted.]
The Bush influence is showing....
After Tuesday it will be irrelevant. Cruz will have to win 900 of 1100 remaining delegates to win.
That won’t happen.
LOL, you funny.
I'm not a Cruz supporter, but the obvious fact should be pointed out that Trump "changed" pretty much every hardcore left-wing position he ever held during his adult lifetime in order to run for president as a Republican.
Rewrite history much? Your candidate appeared to have eaten some downers for the debate. I’d bet my life he would have failed a drug test if one had been given. Good strategy for Trump though. Let’s hope he stays on the meds for the next four years if elected. I’d vote for him if he took an oath that he would.
Cruz got 1,239,370 votes but that/s only 44% of the vote---he would have needed to reach 50% to get every delegate according to Texas/ convoluted rules. He got 102 delegates.
Donald Trump got 757,618 votes....27% of the vote....he got 47 delegates. Rubio got 502,223 votes....that/s 18% ...he ended up w/ 3 Texas delegates.
Cruz spent a bundle but came away looking like a reject.
The power of what I witnessed will resonate for the next 4 or 5 days as we lead up to next Tuesday's Primaries in Florida and Ohio.
Both Carson and Trump elevated themselves with the dialogue that was delivered this morning. It was BIG.
One of the most childish screeds I’ve ever read.
At one point Cruz abandoned answering the question and launched into a prolonged begging session for people to vote for him and go to TedCruz.org. Pathetic.
Listen, if you are fed up with Washington, the question you ought to be asking is who is willing to take on Washington?
By “take on” Washington, I assume he means invite them all into his administration? Like he did with Neil Bush?
Ouch, that is going to leave a mark.
Cruz changes in minutes for expedience. Trump has evolved over years. But twist it as you will.

I hate the media but this comment is pretty good
I thought this was a conservative web-site, but I must be mistaken. Let’s see what we have here:
1. Donnie Trump is a Democrat and a crony capitalist;
2. Marco Rubio is young squish learning to grow up;
3. John Kasich is a liberal Republican and;
4. Ted Cruz is a Constitutional conservative.
Who gets bashed here?
Evolved? That’s one word for it.
