Key Republicans say they won’t back Donald Trump if he’s the GOP nominee. That may make them feel good — and seem principled. But from a practical standpoint, it makes no sense. Not when the next president will choose one or possibly more justices for the Supreme Court.
I say this as a conservative who has fought many fights as the GOP’s chief counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, including for the judicial nominations of Miguel Estrada, Brett Kavanagh and Priscilla Owens, among others. The idea of the party not coalescing behind the eventual nominee would simply be mad. There’s too much at stake.

The GOP not backing Trump and instead attacking him makes no sense.
The GOP has been crying for more voters.
trump gives them that and they don’t like it because they can’t control him and he is not paid off by them.
By this stage the GOP would be saying rally around the front runner, but not now.
instead Bush is meeting with Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich in private.
So much for the establishment keeping their word and loyalty pledges. he best they can do now is to get their contested or brokered convention which Cruz has now stated he is OK with .
Vote anything but “living, breathing” Democrat.

Supreme Court Justice appointees are a big reason why Trump will beat Hillary in a landslide. More republicans will come out for this election than we’ve seen in a long time.

If they steal the nomination from Trump the GOP will lose nearly every seat.
I think if some homosexual or cross dressing groups started supporting the GOP they would be happy, but because it is mostly blue color working class they are not.
I do think this is about Trump too. They know he is not paid for ,like the other, thus they cannot control him.
Very sad the GOP has come to this and the other candidates who ran away from the establishment now is getting in bed with them
Trump is about Trump. If you think he cares for you or our system, including the Supreme Court, forget it.
I don’t think he’ll be president - he’s ensuring that Hillary will get in - but if he were to be, there’s noway he’d appoint a conservative justice. He’s not conservative himself and is even attacking the First Amendement, so he’ll want somebody on the same wavelength - probably his sister. Creepy in the extreme.
If the GOP loses the Senate then the balance in the SC will become 5-4, 6-3 or 7-2 liberal in the next 4 years, the antique SC justices aren't going to last forever.
Of the 34 Senate seats up for election this cycle 24 are held by the GOP, of those 24, eight or so are in states Obama carried the last 2 times. The Dim’s pick up 5 and regain the majority in the Senate they win the SC no matter who wins the Presidency.
yep. If they keep this up and tomorrow Bush is meeting with Cruz, Kasich and Rubio and carryon with these lies then as far as we are here are concerned then it is over for us.

Ms. Hillary said tonight that she will not deport illegal aliens or at least not a segment of them. That woman is evil. She admits will will violate her oath of office.
Well, I can never forgive the complete stiffs that allowed something like this orange weirdo to become viable. But I’ll hold my nose, yet again. But that’s alright, because anyone that actually wants to be president in 2016 has to have something really wrong with them, in my opinion. It’s just more obvious with him.
