Ted Cruz says he would have no problem with a contested convention over the summer in the event neither he nor Donald Trump secures enough delegates before then to lock up the Republican presidential nomination.
Trump suggested Wednesday morning on "Fox and Friends" that Cruz was making the statement "because he had such a bad night last night."

That makes no sense. Cruz has proven he will stick to his guns. Trump not so much.
I have only heard him say he is against a brokered convention, and defined that as being the establishment “swooping” in at the last minute with a candidate that is not currently running such as Mitt. I am 100% for Trump, but I would honestly like to think I could vote for this guy if I have to, and feel ok about it. Does anyone have anything with him saying he was specifically against a CONTESTED convention prior to last night?
I’m not saying change the rule for Trump.
I’m saying nominate the person the base gives the most delegates to.
That’s it.
It’s pretty easy to understand.
There is no need for you to read word what I said and present examples that don’t exist.
Respect the base or lose the base.
Real damn simple.
Cruz: I’m fine with contested convention >>>>>>>>>>>>>
Cruz has accurately concluded that he cannot beat Trump at the polls.
Trump will accumulate the 1237 delegates and more to win the Republican nomination.
Brokered convention? There will be none unless the RNC changes the rules of procedure, and no court of law in the land would prevent the RNC from changing the rules, there is no public interest concerning procedure of due process.
Reince Priebus has stated repeatedly on TV that he would get behind the winner nominee as the Republican candidate for the Republican Party....but Cruz thinks this is not the case.
All I can say is GO DONALD, GO!
Nope. Romney secured the necessary 1144 delegates on May 29th with a win in Texas. He went into the convention with 1575 delegates.
Does that answer your question regarding why Romney was contested?
The whole point of electing delegates is so they can represent the base at the convention if it turns out their pledged candidate can't get enough support and they have to decide on other options.
I understand that you would be mad if that happened because you really like Trump but it wouldn't be "stealing" or "cheating" or "insider manipulation" or a cause for "war". It would simply be the regular nomination process when there are multiple candidates receiving sufficient support.
You mean the “best THREE”, I bet...
TRUMP, Cruz, and the GOPE against Trump.
GOPe is against both Trump and Cruz and most of Americans.
I’ll let this speak for my opinion of Ronald Reagan:

Oh, really.
I didn’t know the GOPE spent $38 million last week against Cruz too. I thought all that money was spent by the GOPE, against Cruz’ opponent.
Silly me.
No...he said there should not be a brokered convention where the big wigs commandeer the election from the candidates.
A contested convention happens when none of the candidates get enough delegates before the election. A brokered convention is where they arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic 238 a way to steal the election from the top candidate and then they have cheated the voters and then I would never vote for whoever they foist upon us in that instance.
He was saying...and I agree...the viters would revolt if the GOPe would try that.
As a Cruz supporter who.would vite for Trump if he wins rhe nomination....I would never vote for a candidate in the brikered convention scenario.
Contested however...yes....
And so far I am managing to maintain my belief structure and support my candidate without calling Trump candidate’s supporters names or denigrating them or calling them all the things that people from both camps have been doing here on Free Republic.

LOL!
He’s only fooling himself that he would come out of a brokered convention as the winner. But of course hooking up with a Bushie increases his chances.
‘Brokered’ convention depends on primaries from here out yielding many establishment delegates.
If the convention opens with 1900 delegates between Trump and Cruz, there is no mechanism for a GOP-E candidate. The only brokering will be between Trump and Cruz.
Even a compromise candidate would have to be agreed to by Trump and Cruz.
Without at least 1000 delegates, the establishment gets nothing.
Thanks :)
“If there is a contested convention, Romney will be the candidate.”
Or Jeb. He did say that even if he didn’t win the primaries he would be the nominee.
