Mitt Romney said Sunday that GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz winning two primary states this weekend proves the Texas senator can stop front-runner Donald Trump, but declined to rule out his own White House scenario.
Romney, a former Massachusetts governor and the Republicans' 2012 presidential nominee, repeated remarks from last week, telling “Fox News Sunday” that he wouldn’t launch an eleventh-hour campaign for president. But he declined to reject being “drafted” at the GOP convention in July to be the party’s general election candidate.
“It would be absurd to say that if I were drafted I’d say no,” Romney said. “We have four strong people running for the nomination. One of them will be the nominee.”
Romney has occasionally weighed in on the 2016 GOP race. But he emerged in full force Thursday when he gave a speech in which he called Trump a “phony” and urged voters to instead back an establishment candidate like Cruz, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio or Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

I am ready for my closeup Mr DeMille
“Will they file suit to block Cruz from assuming office?”
Absolutely. There’s NO question that the Dems will overturn the whole election if Cruz were to beat Hillary in the general.
Team Cruz has got to know this. Obviously, they’re confident they will beat a court challenge over his eligibility, but I think that borders on insanity. At best, it’s a dangerous gamble, especially considering the current makeup of the Supreme Court.
Advance warning...
Poor joke coming your way.
So...
A vote for Cruz is actually a vote for Romney?
:)
I say again, please, please let this all be over by the 15th. Just let Trump win. I like Cruz but this is just too unsettling with all these egos.
Romney never said to back an establishment candidate like Cruz. That was the author. Cruz is not part of the establishment. He is extreme right of the establishment.
Mitt is also harming Cruz by linking him as the establishment guy. IMHO, that is his design. When Trump is out of the way, he will trash Cruz.
Mitt is dirty and devious and only thinks of himself. He revealed that he has no interest in what is best for the country.
I think it would depend on how loyal Trump’s delegates are. If they are very loyal, Trump could take his delegates and walk out. And if Cruz went too with his, what would the establishment do???
Cruz would never walk out with Trump, never. If they get to the convention, Cruz has a couple of ways he’ll go but neither involve sticking with Trump.
“(Romney) will not reject GOP nod if drafted at convention”
However millions of GOP voters will reject Willard in November if he is drafted at the convention.
Niice

They know that. Romney has proven his ability to throw an election. Their plan is that they'd rather lose the election than to have Trump get in there and clean out the DC sewer.
Sit down and shut up, Bishop.
So positive and refreshing!
Cruz takes nomination away from Trump. Court rules Cruz ineligible. Romney is called on to save the party. Thank you very much.
Mitt, wanna also take credit for Rubio completely tanking too? After all, Rubios the only establishment candidate still standing, and all your BFFs are backing him.
-—The GOPe rather see Hillary Clinton in office than Trump or Cruz.
I think they’d settle on Cruz at this point. They are in the deal making stage, and Cruz may see this as an opportunity to sit at the big kids table for once.
Cruz is now a tool of the GOP. The question is if he knows it or not.
Note that they are not promoting Cruz, they are promoting anyone BUT Trump, and Cruz has jumped right on board.
