Louisiana ... was a primary rather than a caucus. Trump won the state on strength of early voters. He lost among people who showed up on election day. The RealClearPolitics polling average showed him leading by 15.6 percentage points, but he only carried Louisiana by 3.6 points.
Trump finished on the low end of his March polling, with a shade more than 41 percent of the vote, while Cruz overperformed even the high end at better than 37 percent.
If there was any sign that an anti-Trump vote is coming together, we saw it in Louisiana.

Either way, voters are giving a big fat middle finger to the GOPe establishment!
...well, if people are so dumb to listen to Mitt Romney before they go to vote, who can help them?
Romney and the rest of the establishment are just fine wtih Cruz if he stops Trump. Buy a clue. You’re known by the friends you keep and right now Cruz’s friends sure do not look good to this Conservative.
Same day voting is also when they cheat, they claimed Romney won Maine then later admitted he lost.
Either way, voters are giving a big fat middle finger to the GOPe establishment.

I agree 100%.
All I see from this week is that the Fox News debate and Romney put a small dent in Trump, but that will be all.
Those moderators did not act as moderators, especially Megan. Romney went out like a small star exploding in an unknown galaxy.
Neither entity should be looked at as respectable ever again.
Americans want to be proud of their President again, and New York Values/d*ck jokes are appalling to non-NYers.
And this too can change in an instant.
This article accepts as fact the polls were correct when reality shows the polls were wrong.
RitaOKC had an excellent post itemizing Cruzs establishment credentials - Ill try to recap...and obviously Cruz supporters will ignore to support their Canuck messiah.
-Cruz voted for TPP
-Cruz voted for Corkers Iran nuke deal
-Cruz, as an executive on NRSC, donated $250k at the behest of McConnell, that was used in the 2014 Mississippi fraud
-Cruz joined Bushie organization in 2000
-Cruz wrote WSJ op-ed to endorse Dread Pirate John Roberts for SCOTUS (an indicator of future appointments)
-Cruz now has JEB campaign team on his staff - THAT screams Establishment
-No doubt, Hellry would not only sue him (NBC) if Cruz is nominee but would eat him alive on debates. A polite Hahvud debater is NOT what is needed to defeat the witch
-Heidi Cruz on CFR’s North American Union that pushes NO BORDERS
-Cruz was supporting amnesty...until recently - a move so transparent anyone can see his dishonesty
-Jeff Sessions endorsed Trump - not Cruz
-Sarah Palin endorsed Trump - not Cruz
-Cruz continues to partner with the lunatic Glenn Beck
Cruzers need to wake up and see Cruz as the stealth Establishment candidate he always has been.
So Trump excelled in early voting. But didn’t do well on the actual primary day. I wonder if there is any buyers remorse.
This article actually gets it. Trump hit his poll numbers. Undecideds, Carson voters, and a few other votes went to Cruz, which significantly boosted him above his numbers. What you see is the beginning of a consolidation of the anti-Trump vote, not the establishment vote. Rubio and Kasich are getting the GOPe votes. I think it’s too little, too late, for Cruz, but we will see on Tuesday.
Trump got over 40 percent in Cruz’s back yard and won.
was that the same state last night which had 12% reported in and then for well over an hour nothing, then all of a sudden they released all the results.
Nah nothing fishy there
massive sarc.
that is why Rubio is losing
Oh yeah, that Palin endorsement... Alaska sure shot that down. Probably the last one she’ll be allowed to make in her career.
How about Trump's friends? No, don't give me Ann Coulter or Sarah Palin.
Thanks for ignoring the many, many other factual points.
btw, Palin saw thru Cruz’s phony conservatism and joined Jeff Sessions to endorse trump.
Are you also attacking Sessions stellar conservative record and intellect?
Bottom line: Cruz is ALL ESTABLISHMENT...and has always been establishment as my post points prove.
