Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson looks to be dropping out of the presidential race, despite multiple declarations to the contrary on Super Tuesday. He will skip out on Thursday night's debate, and he has openly declared that he does "not see a political path forward." Carson will speak on Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where he is expected to drop out of the race. If so, whom will he endorse?

Sources close to the good doctor have told Independent Journal Review's Benny Johnson that Donald Trump is most likely to receive Carson's endorsement. "Trump was contacting Dr. Carson regularly during the campaign and remains in contact," a former Carson staffer told Independent Journal Review on condition of anonymity. I would not be surprised if the first call Ben got today was from Trump." The staffer added, "The chance of Ben jumping onboard with Trump is very real."
Another former Carson staffer said, "Carson would be the crown jewel of an endorsement for Trump." The retired neurosurgeon would bring a degree of moral support to the real estate tycoon, who has taken hits from evangelical leaders for being indecent and untrustworthy, and Marco Rubio has repeatedly denounced him as a "con artist." Carson, by contrast, is well regarded as a moral man, primarily by evangelicals.
Carson's former Iowa campaign chair Rob Taylor said Trump would "rarely say anything ill of Carson." If he were Trump, Taylor said "Carson would be my #1 pick for VP. He has the balance and reasonability that Trump needs."
It is very unlikely for Carson to back Cruz, as the good doctor and his campaign suspects that Cruz stole votes from him in the Iowa caucus. Cruz and his surrogates around the state propagated a lie that Carson was dropping out, and told Iowa voters to vote Cruz instead.
"The Cruz campaign is dishonest," declared one former Carson staffer in Iowa. "The feeling was felt by everyone on the campaign." Another former staffer said Carson considers Cruz "untrustworthy," and added, "The last campaign Dr. Carson would support now is the Cruz campaign."
While the good doctor distrusts Cruz, he has a friendly relationship with Marco Rubio, the former staffers told Independent Journal Review. The Florida senator has been in contact with Carson over the phone, according to Taylor. The former Iowa campaign chair said he does not know whom Carson will choose, but he does know the Carson's next move.
The very first thing the man does in a decision moment is ask God for guidance and sometimes that is the very best thing...Dr. Carson will do whatever the Good Lord tells him to do.
How different from the real estate tycoon Carson might just endorse on Friday.
If the GOP runs anyone but Trump or Cruz, I plan to write in Trump/Cruz so they can count the vote they lost by not supporting the People’s candidate. I’m beginning to think there is no big difference between the dims and the gop establishment, and since there is no way I could vote for Hillary, who is a criminal (imho)and no way I’d vote for Rubio as I see him as the dim’s gop candidate and Kasich would be another clothespin candidate (hold your nose vote as establishment as usual) then if Trump or Cruz is not the candidate, I will vote as I please by writing them in as a form of protest. If Hillary wins what difference would it make? Establishment supports establishment, not I.
BTTT!
Trump was the only candidate who stood up for Ben Carson.
God bless Dr. Carson.
But he didn't compare him to a pathological child molester. When Trump attacked Carson, all he did is take passages from Carson's own book and pointed out that it was silly that a good man like Carson would hit his mother with a hammer or stab his friend. Very artful and honorable way to attack an opponent you like. |
Sounds like the perfect ticket to me!
“Carson - Surgeon Genral”
***********************************************************
A completely superfluous office, if there ever was one.
I got to agree there. Maybe make him Dept of the Interior and consolidate all the redundancy under it. Such as EPA, Education, and Transportation. Give him some clout over large swathes of the oligarchy.
False. He did. I heard it with my own ears. Trump lifted the word "pathological" out of context and said it's "incurable," like being a "child molester." It was not artful or honorable at all. It was downright disgraceful on Trump's part. But Trump has been a disgrace this whole campaign.
Let me prove to the Trump followers why endorsements don't matter. If Trump dropped out and endorsed Rubio would you all vote for Rubio? Nope.
What good is that if the president isn't a true constitutionalist?
Afterall, it was Trump that hung with him at the debate entrance when Carson didnt hear his name called. The rest practically stepped on his neck trying to get on stage.
What gets me about Carson is he has never spoken out about Obama-s abuse of the Bully Pulpit and the resultant conflicts plus assults and murders that came from it. Begining with revenge for Treyvon Martin attacks on non blacks by black gangbangers which resulted in about a score (20) of deaths and serious injuries.
One who has spoken out about it is Miilwaukee county Sheriff Clarke (D) who by the way is ran for re election this month. and won Primary Feb 16th .
When Carson held a brief but slight lead in the Iowa polls Trump set out and accused him of being everything from a pedophile, crazy, and questionable surgeon involved in abortions. When he could have used that Bully Pulpit issue and elevate the discussion. But the President of Trump University (2 class action law suits comming up for deceptive practices .The one in NY has 5000 patticipants) Trump resorted to rhrowing krap and was unrelenting. Until polls showed Carsons lead dissappear during November .
Does Carson seriously believe Trump would consider him for VP ?
The man shoud really formally drop out and use the remaining time to fund raise and clean up his campaign debts.
Right now I’m going to assume that the comment was sincere, and not intended as hyperbole to make a point.
If Carson has seen fit to forgive him—which means a lot considering that he, Carson, still seems to be angry at Cruz—why are you constantly dragging it up? Seems to be water under the bridge for them. Why not you?
To change the subject some more, but onto a similar topic, your tagline suggests that you’d vote Hillary over Trump if it came down to that. Do you want me to hang that constantly over your head for the entire election season?
So you are saying that you think Trump sincerely believes Carson is incurably pathological like a child molester. Why then would Trump want such a person "jumping onboard"?
why are you constantly dragging it up?
Look at the title of this thread. It's about "Carson Jumping Onboard with Trump." Thus Trump's characterization of Carson is perfectly relevant.
your tagline suggests that youd vote Hillary over Trump if it came down to that.
Right now we are in the primary season, so my "Anyone But Trump" is about that. And Hillary is not running for the Republican nomination.
Boy, you’re just lashing out at me, aren’t you? I’ve told you that I’ve respected you for a long time, and that REALLY hurt.
I’m going to only respond to the first part of your comment, because the sudden attack on my integrity just made me see red and I’m REALLY trying not to get involved in a flame war.
The INTENT of my comment was in order to try to forestall argument. Personally I’ve lived in NYC, and comments like Trump has made are pretty normal even among the kindest NYCers. It’s cultural to be loud and rude and outrageous as compared to the rest of the country, because in NYC, that kind of behavior isn’t rude to them; it’s how everyone acts.
But mostly I just didn’t want to argue about whether Trump was using hyperbole or not, so I just decided to concede your point for the purposes of this argument and assume the worst about Trump’s comment.
I was trying NOT to be angry and spiteful, especially after I realized that I took a few too many steps too far this week and am trying to tone it back. Am I not allowed the same courtesy, especially from a fellow pastor?
Ok, let’s see who Ben endorses. If he chooses Cruz or Rubio, then perhaps Trump did go over the line.
