The government has no business being in the health insurance business.

I don’t care how good the plan is.

The government should ensure competition, enforce quality standards and protect consumers from fraud.

People can make their own decisions about what’s best for them.

Looks to me like he’s getting the government out (for most taxpayers anyway).

How is that government involvement?

Good grief folks. Pull out the full deck and lets play.

Except to prevent crime and fraud, I would agree with you.

However, we’ve already kind of passed the point where it’s at all possible—barring complete national collapse—to kick government entirely out, at least not in one go. In my opinion, this is a really big step in the right direction.

This isn’t a government plan. It’s a plan to drop the mandate and increase private sector competition. Keeping Medicaid for those who need it, but making it state-based, is a giant step away from federal interference in our lives.

The government has no business being in the health insurance business.

Is there anything the government has gotten involved with that they didn't make worse?

‘The government has no business being in the health insurance business. I don’t care how good the plan is.’

There are two ways to handle a broken car ...

1. Crush it in the compactor.

2. Fix it.

The VOTER does not want to crush this car in the compactor. You and I could see the virtue in ‘cold turkey’ free market restoration, but there is so much public pressure to keep some kind of healthcare safety net for the poor that there WILL be a safety net.

So who is the Don Quixoti who is campaigning to let people die in the streets? I can’t find one at the moment.

I agree with you 1000%, but unfortunately the government has been in it since Medicare was started.

I keep saying the progressives have been at this for a 100 years plus, no one man is going to totally reverse this course in one term.

It will take us many generations to turn this country around, we need to do it step by step as they did, this is a start.
