Donald Trump released his health care plan Wednesday evening, finally detailing the way in which he would fulfill his campaign trail promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.
In a seven-point plan posted to his website and publicized by a tweet, Trump says he will do away with the individual health insurance mandate, as well as allow competition over states lines for health care plans, and block grant Medicaid to the states, allowing them to follow through on his prescription to "eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources."
The decision to go against the idea of an individual mandate is new for Trump, who told CNN during a February town hall before the South Carolina primary that he "likes the mandate" and that makes him "a little bit different" than other conservatives.
But Wednesday's plan outlines as the first point on the list: "Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to."
He counters that, however, by saying individuals should be allowed to "fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns."
The third bullet point goes on to say that "we must make sure no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance" and that "we must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it."
Further, Trump ties illegal immigration to his healthcare plan, writing "providing healthcare to illegal immigrants costs us some $11 billion annually ... If we were to simply enforce the current immigration laws and restrict the unbridled granting of visas to this country,

If Cruz continues to say that Trump is for Obamacare and for expanding Obamacare he is official lying.
To: grania
Cruz did. Repealing every word is getting rid of the mandate.
BOOM!

If you want a ‘Cloward and Piven’ candidate to collapse the system, Hillary or Sanders would do nicely.
But please bear in mind, you would be abandoning the low-info patriots who have just now unplugged from the matix. If they conclude that the fix is in, that there’s no way to avoid a President Hillary, they will plug themselves back in the matrix and wait for doomsday.

O.M.G. We're all going to die. Trump's health care plan is not perfect so we should stop him in his tracks, suffer with ObamaCare and wait for congress to act. /s
That said, this is a plan the country could unite behind. Best of all, this plan could put ObamaCare six feet under and give health care choices back to We the People.

"Im ticked because my copays and monthly payments went up which means Im subsidizing people who are getting it for nothing. Does that make me hard-hearted??" No...that does not make you hard hearted...it just makes you poor...just like them...and THAT makes you more dependent on the stinking government and THAT is what the plan was from the beginning...
When the government controls your purse strings they control your liberty.... It takes a strong man to disregard the economy of house, home and family in order to keep his freedom...
And as far as I know...it doesn't cost the stinking politician a single red cent of the best insurance coverage that your money can buy... What a county, right comrade..??

If you want a Cloward and Piven candidate to collapse the system, Hillary or Sanders would do nicely. Just because I recognize Trump's plan as being ineffective why do you assume I want to collapse the system? Or that I support Clinton or Sanders?

No. Ensure=/= allow. The premise of that statement was false.
Then you go off that to accuse someone who wants govt OUT of a business of being a Socialist. REALLY?

Blessed be the peacemakers ....
Cruz supporters care deeply about the USA.
Trump supporters also care deeply about the USA.
BOTH plans do MORE than repeal Obamacare, they actually reverse the trend. Let’s not forget, even before Obama, healthcare was perhaps second to the airline industry in over-regulation.
With these changes? Healthcare savings accounts? Fairness in tax deductions the same as employers? Interstate competition? DE-regulation.
Perhaps Cruz should take the credit for this plan, as eartick pointed out. It’s almost the same as the Cruz plan.
And it reverses the ‘anti-freedom’ trend!
For the first time in our lives. No one is old enough to remember freedom increasing in healthcare.

One more thing: I had heard Trump tell Hannity that our health insurance covers a lot of things we will never need. It’s not mentioned in his plan, but he wants families to opt out of abortion coverage for example. And perhaps other kinds of leftist-agenda costs. Such as AIDS coverage? Who knows?

You said to ‘crush the car’. Sorry to misunderstand you. I am very concerned about Cruz supporters who might be ‘too cool for school’ if Trump gets nominated. They promise to go ‘Cloward and Piven’ on us.

Thanks KittenClaws.
Actually, the conservative point of view would be that everyone pay for their own health care and have catastrophic insurance for a devastating illness or disease.
I see most here calling for insurance companies to cover everything as long as they have affordable premiums.
For instance car insurance doesn’t cover oil changes or tires, it only covers an accident.
Health insurance should be the same but over the years we’ve been conditioned to not even pay for a yearly check up let alone our own prescriptions.

$3 Billion lost to Cancer drug waste.

What has got to be stopped is the ads for new drugs, they cost more than older proven ones. Useless drugs are another issue. FDA flagged drugs should be pulled from the market. Hospital test that should take 3 hrs take 5 and you are let go totally Dehydrated because no one is trained to spot it.
I have to have a new monthly script for the pain med I have to take, and it must contain the term CHRONIC PAIN or the Military Dispensary will only fill it for 2 weeks. I live chronic level 8/9 pain from several health conditions none of them fixable. Why do I need to see the Primary every 3 months just for script refills for some meds? Then need test to make sure they aren’t killing my liver or kidneys? It they are that dangerous why are they on the market?
Foreto the Osteoporosis drug is DOUBLE FDA Flagged, why is it still on the market and being pushed by doctors who don’t tell the patient the facts about it being flagged?
Saw my Primary Monday for script refills, as we are DOD MANDATED to use Military Base or Express Scripts, not all drugs are available at the base. You fill at the Base, but refill out of Pensacola for our area and the bottles for tiny pills are huge instead of fitting the medicine. Then you have the issue of what to do with the drugs that cause bad reactions that are very expensive with just 1 or 2 pills. Why not go to a trail dose to weed out this issue of having to throw away a $400 bottle of medicine because you had a horrid reaction to just 1 or 2 pills?
You can’t donate them to a health clinic for the poor even. If you dispose of them properly you have to take them to a private pharmacy as the Military Base won’t take them back.
Our co-pays went up last year, NO COLA raise this year, Medicare went up last year too. And we get less coverage thanks to the THIEVES in Congress stealing the money from Medicare and Tricare Life to fund Obamacare.

And I do believe medicaid is a state program. It is partially, significantly, funded by the feds and has significant federal strings attached to receive those funds. Iowa is trying to move all its medicaid patients to managed care. It needed federal waivers to accomplish that and had to push the its timetable back twice before gaining federal approval. Kasich has, controversially, increased medicaid in Ohio with up front federal financing amounting to a tax on those in other states up front, but increased costs for Ohio in out years a typical political scam and one Kasich, typically, denies. Government provided healthcare for the poor should be managed and funded locally and transparently in ways that minimize political posturing. And it should be limited to basic care as it would have to be offered equally, as a 'right,' to any that meet basic income, etc. requirements. Private charity care should be encouraged. It will be more efficient than government care and provide services beyond it. But receiving private charity is a privilege, not a right. It can be denied to whomever that charity deems undeserving. If you don't like the restrictions a charity places on its offerings, offer your money to a charity you prefer.
