Maine Gov. Paul LePage, who endorsed Donald Trump for president last Friday, claimed on Wednesday that Ted Cruz, like his Canadian-born daughters, is ineligible to be the president.
Asked on The Howie Carr Show why he endorsed Trump over Ted Cruz, LePage replied, Very simple. Its very simple. I am the most conservative governor that there is. Hes a first time senator. Hes not ready. Number one. Number two is I also have two daughters who were born in Canada. They had to be naturalized. They couldnt be natural. And so, I have a question there.
LOL!
Since the girls were born in Canada and their mother is Canadian, they are automatically eligible to be Canadian citizens. Neither one of Cruz’ parents are Canadian citizens. Pretty simple.
The doofus democrat congressman?
That the best you have?
LOL!
Just admit it Trump guys, you were Trumped!
Sure, there were plenty of questions about Zero's eligibility -- based on whether he'd actually been born in Hawaii.
But the first question asserting he was ineligible because only one of his parents was an American citizen wasn't posted on Free Republic until December 8, 2008 -- over one month after Obama had been elected!
And if this birther nonsense about requiring two citizen parents were true, I ask you why absolutely nobody, anywhere brought up the question before the election? Given that it was widely known that Zero's father was a Kenyan and there are several million attorneys, professors, judges and political practitioners who would know whether that disqualified a person from being president -- why did no one blow the whistle on him?
Because they knew better. That's why.
Cruz’s father did not become a US citizen until 2005... Who knows what his mother’s citizenship standing really is. Cruz has a born in Canada birth certificate. Cruz is a ‘natural born’ Canadian. PERIOD!
His father was either a Cuban citizen or a Canadian citizen,
I know that I talked to my friend about it. It’s natural to wonder if you look up the candidate and see they were born in Canada. So we just assumed because he had an American parent, must be ok.
However, Governor LePage now says he’s sure Cruz is not eligible because he looked into re: his two Canadian born children and it’s a no-go
What are you talking about? That Moron Grayson in Florida brought it up on Allan Colmes Show last Year.
Do you think Trump started it?
It’s been part of the DemoncRat bag of tricks since Cruz announced his run.
If you think otherwise, you are confused at best or the TDS has rendered you completely irrational.
Whatever floats your Boat. Carry on.
It will end up in a Courtroom, or multiple Courtrooms if he is Nominated.
Wait a minute!
Wasn't his old man a Cubanadian?...naturalized Canadian citizen?
There are many of us that have been “screaming” for years that Obummer isn’t eligible because his father was never a citizen. You cannot have other allegiances if you want to be President.
We are not hypocrites, if Obummer is not eligible because of his dad, then Cruz is in the same boat.
There is a picture that has been posted around the web in several places that shows that BOTH of Cruz’s parents were registered voters in Canada in 1973. You could not be a dual citizen of Canada and another country until 1974. His mom would not have been a citizen then and couldn’t “transfer her citizenship” if she wasn’t a citizen of the US anymore. Even if she transferred her citizenship, it still would only make him a citizen.
The founders wanted someone with no other allegiances, they did not want King George III to have a child and have that child grow up to be President. You have to understand that Natural Born Citizen is a completely different class of citizenship than “citizen” and “naturalized citizen”.
Please don’t start insulting those of us that are questioning Cruz’s eligibility, 2 Harvard professors were debating it recently and they had 2 completely different opinions. It is NOT settled. If you notice, Cruz tells people that he is eligible because he never had to be naturalized, that doesn’t make you a natural born citizen, it just makes you a citizen. There IS a big difference.
If it winds up in the courtrooms under your scenario, I’m pretty sure it will be the Donald suing because he lost...
We are not hypocrites, if Obummer is not eligible because of his dad, then Cruz is in the same boat.
Obamas eligibility was questioned for more reasons than “because of his dad”.
Nope. This guy is wrong. The circumstances are totally different.
LePage was living in Canada when he married his first wife -- Sharon Crabbe in 1971. They had two daughters -- Lisa (born 1975) and Lindsay (1976). They divorced in 1980 -- when the daughters were 5 and 4, respectively.
LePage moved back to the USA and eventually re-married. The daughters remained in Canada with their mother. Since both Lisa and Lindsay both graduated from Canadian universities, it appears they remained in the country thru their majority (age 18) -- at which point they became adult Canadian citizens and forfeited any claim to American citizenship stemming from their father's nationality.
Accordingly, if they subsequently moved to the U.S and wanted to acquire citizenship, yes, they would've had to be naturalized. It appears, though, that both still reside in Canada.
Those that are the most dedicated to Trump will be the most angry when he doesn’t deliver as promised or swerves to the left were he’s most comfortable.Provided he gets elected
Their wailing will be legendary
"This birther nonsense" is documented in the text of a unanimous Supreme Court decision, less than a hundred years after the signing and ratification of our Constitution.
Nonsense. Cruz’ mother is an American born citizen.
A judge somewhere yesterday threw out a lawsuit about this. Illinois or Indiana I think.
Wrong
On a technicality. The (sketchy) plaintiff didn’t serve parties with copies of the papers after filing them.
None of the ‘birther’ lawsuits have had a trial on their merits.
