The Week ^ | March 1, 2016 | Staff

Marco Rubio brushed off Ted Cruz's call for candidates who have yet to win a state to "prayerfully consider" dropping out of the race, telling NBC News he understands "Ted's spin on this," but he's not going anywhere.

You know i am really sick and tired of them telling US what the conservative movement is. GOPe only movement is the old boy gang. None of them ever cared about US. EVER!

What has his version of “the modern conservative movement” accomplished in the last, say, 20 years?

Bigger government
Massive bureaucracy growth
No addressing immigration
Failed to prevent the essential change in government/citizen relationship caused by the Individual Mandate
Stimulus
Bank bailouts
Going to war without a clear definition of what victory looked like
Massive EPA expansion
Massive DOE expansion
And on..and on...and on...

Tell me, Sen. Rubio, where has the “modern conservative movement” carried the day, beat back the growth of centralized government power in the last 20 years? We are in a fight with the Left every day, on every front and the party cares fights harder against Donald Trump than it does against Barack Obama. Mitt Romney’s top aides are saying they’d rather see Hillary Clinton win. HILLARY CLINTON. That tells you how close the Republican party (the home of the “modern conservative movement”) is with the Democrats.

If this is the modern conservative movement then I hate to say it but it needs to end because right now, it’s nothing but a name with no actions being taken and no accomplishments to its name.

The Modern Conservative Movement™ ended in Anbar Province sometime in 2005.

It’s just not buried yet. Almost, though.

There is no current conservative “movement”, because the leadership doesn’t want to go anywhere. In sports, when the teams lose constantly, the coaches get fired. The players want to win, but the coaches are satisfied being coaches and having big salaries. Time for the players to fire the coaches so they can start winning.

The American Conservatism that is willing to ally itself with the GOP establishment to defeat Trump at any cost to integrity, values or acceptance of the status quo we’ve been given by RINO leadership isn’t something I want to be associated with at any level.

Hopefully, it isn’t worth a plug nickel anyway. You are in fact the poster boy of the modern conservative movement. Which is false advertising anyway, since there is nothing even remotely conservative about it anyway.

‘the end of the modern conservative movement’

If the 2015 congress is the “modern conservative movement” then this sounds like a Trump endorsement to me.

Rubio’s Gang of 8 bill would have meant the end of the country.

Rubio, no, it means the end of the GOPe strangle hold over the GOP party.

Maybe there never WAS a “conservative movement”.

Conservative government was found to be too difficult to put into practice, and left untried.

The best than can be hoped for is for “our” SOB to defeat “their” SOB (or B, if it should come to that).

The great ones of the modern conservative movement, like Rush, Levin and Sowell are actually educators.
As the saying goes: “Those who can do, and those who can’t teach.”

It’s long past time for someone who can ‘do’ to rise up for conservatives. Even such a middling conservative as Trump.

This race isn’t about conservatism as much as it’s about saving our country from being entirely stolen by the globalists,

Rubio: “the party will never “call for us to get behind him. They know the nomination of Donald Trump means the end of the modern conservative movement and the end of the modern Republican Party in a very devastating way.””

Rubio, the Gang of Eight, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton and the Republican establishment appear to be the future of the conservative movement according to Rubio.

Does anyone else notice how Rubio never mentions his long time sponsor, Jeb Bush, as his major influence?

Instead, Rubio, he always claims it was Ronald Reagan.

It was Cruz who asked Rubio to “prayerfully” consider dropping out of the race.

I don’t know what the ‘modern’ conservative movement is. Compassionate conservatism? NEOCONs?

Conservatism IS. It’s not a modern anything.

I don’t really care now, frankly. I voted for Trump in my state and he won it easily. IF Cruz by some chance is the Republican nominee in November, I’ll gladly and proudly vote for him. I’d hope Cruz supporters would do the same but honestly don’t expect it. I’m done with all this until November until I vote for Trump is he’s still there if I am still alive by then. The rest will happen as it may. I’ve done my part and I have been fair enough throughout in my assessment. That’s all I can do.
