While I applaud Trump for using Democrats to build a lead... it all starts to come crashing down on Saturday.

Democrats don't get to pick our nominee in Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana and Maine.

Ted Cruz can win the south in the general. That’s about it. Talk about unlikable

Doesn’t that bode well for Trump’s ability to bring in cross over and independent votes?

I Love how they try to build a narrative from Cruz winning an extra 300 or so votes in Alaska. That’s your strategy for the general election?

Yep. Next week should be interesting. Closed Primaries and winner takes all.

Come Novemmber, the entire nation has an ‘open’ primary. I guess then that Cruz would lose if he were the nominee.

Cruz is following on Santorum’s footsteps, but doing worse.

Santorum won Alabama and Tennessee.

Cruz doesn’t have a path to win.

The problem is that he has not won a county in a couple of southern states.
The south was the firewall and that was lost.

FL is a closed primary and that is coming up and losing big and having only won 3 states which one of his own and a neighboring one and one caucus by a few hundred is not looking good.

I prefer Trump, I now doubt Cruz as a candidate but he’s ok. I will vote Rubio if I must.

But I don’t think Trump is on any glide path to the nomination. He’s really taking fire now from the republican refuseniks and his Duke thing was a mistake though I defend him he was ridiculed for that.

The pundits are always wrong I think they still are wrong and it’s a race now.

This could certainly be explained by the fact that reasonable Democrats fear Hillary and Bernie, so they would prefer Trump.

RE:”While I applaud Trump for using Democrats to build a lead..”

I am not impressed with that.

Clearly those Dems jumping open primaries believe that Trump is way more liberal than the most recent positions that he is taking.

In fact a couple of Dems here have told me they believe he is just lying about those positions. That he is pretty liberal and will work with Dems.

No doubt that Trump will win Maryland's GOP open primary , which picked Dole, McCain, Romney, Ehrlich,..

When the WAPO has to spin for Cruz, I begin to see a McLame candidate in their cross-hairs.
The next couple of weeks will thin the herd and turn out the deep pockets.

Obviously we don’t have enough voters in just GOP to win as we have seen the last 6 elections. We barely won 2000 and 2004. Trump will bring the Reagan democrats back which we desperately need.

On a side note, I listened to beck’s show this morning for about an hour and he sounded like a normal guy. Why is he such a freak on the campaign trail with Cruz? Weird!

Cruz and Rubio have no path to victory.

547

If 547 more delegates go to the remaining not-Trumps, Trump can’t get enough to secure the nomination outright, we go to a brokered convention, and the uniparty wins. Again.

This is the last chance to break them. I hope people do what’s best for the country and party long-term. The GOPe has had an active role in destroying American strength and prosperity for the last 30 years. They need to be punished.

It’s time to rip off the bandaid.

Sure, Cruz won closed primaries/caucuses, but not by huge margins.  Iowa was his most controversial win.

So, Trump already is attracting the RINO and Democrat vote. I can’t imagine how hard left he would go if he gets to be the nominee. And if he wins on a leftist platform and gets a leftist mandate, wouldn’t his “win” be worse that Charlie Sheen’s “winning!” crack? And if that happens, how in the world would we be able to oppose the policies of a REPUBLICAN president who is supported by Democrats and the GOPe?
My God, people, wake up before it’s too late! It almost is. It’s not like we don’t have a real conservative to rally around this time, someone who is eminently electable! Don’t get me wrong, if Trump wins the nomination, I’ll support him and vote for him. But we still have a choice right now!

With Cruz winning Alaska and Texas, I propose Delegate allocation by land mass won!

I think it’s getting to be a done deal. The only question at this point is whether Trump’s policies are conservative enough to win your vote in the general election. I think he’s opening a can of worms with his trade policies and his preference for regulation and government meddling in the economy but Hillary has that problem as well and on the other issues she’s wrong across the board. As far as Trumps personality is concerned he’s not Mr Congeniality but neither is Hillary and that’s not really what we need anyway. He may be behind in the polls to Hillary but that’s just what we’re stuck with and its 9 months to the election.

Unless it’s changed since ‘88, the IA caucuses are not closed; it’s the same as an open primary. Just decide when you enter the building which caucus you want to attend.

Do you have any polls that say you’re right for these states? I know I’ve seen EKU KY polls that don’t support Kentucky, and I also seem to remember something similar for Maine.....

So you are saying that Cruz couldn’t have won Texas without the democrats?

There’s support for that position. For example, in the Democrat stronghold of Travis county (Austin), Cruz easily won, followed closely by Rubio, with Trump a distant third.

And in Dallas county, where the county offices are in solid Democrat control (except for the DA’s office where the corrupt democrat was upset) Cruz again had an easy win, but Trump did edge Rubio for second.
