No. They like Trump better than Cruz because Cruz won't budge. That's why they hate him. Rove won't even say his name.
They like Trump better because he'll "make deals" with them, and Rove seems to like Trump - although he likes Rubio better. Rove supports them both.
Notice the GOPe hates Cruz so much, they won't say his name. That's a GOOD thing!!! Even the media - who loves the Trump "Presidential" reality show ratings, won't even discuss Cruz if they don't have to. They'll talk about Trump and Rubio 24/7 though.

I have always said I could vote for Cruz or Trump. If Trump is the nominee and the GOPe doesn’t get behind him we are screwed as a party. The same is true if Cruz is the nominee and the GOPe doesn’t get behind him, we lose BIGLY. This party BETTER come together and soon or we all lose!

Hewitt and his pal Medved are big time players in GOP establishment circles. I consider them both to be enemies of the average American, but if you pay attention to them you can learn what the GOPe is plotting.
And their current scheme is gain an open convention. If they can do this by preventing a Trump win on the first ballot they will steal the nomination at the convention.
