AND NOW... amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke... it is time for... that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-The-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him - do NOT doubt him - with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America’s anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A real man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander-in-Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do — host. I believe you were here in November 2000 when I quit lurking and joined the discussion.

Yes, I've been here since September 2000. Would've been MUCH SOONER, but we didn't have high-speed internet until August 2000. I didn't have much patience for dial-up!

Dang! I hate it when Rush falls into his "college's-a-waste-teaches-nothing-racksup-student-loan-debt" rants

LOL I thought about you when I heard that.

Again though... I don't he's talking about ALL college degrees.... he did specifically mention people who get silly degrees...

So they go get degrees in Insect and Mammoth Studies and come out with literally nowhere to go, after spending six figures or more for the privilege of being there for four years.

Rush was repeating this as a point made in an article written by Charles Murray in the WSJ. It's still behind the paywall... so, I'm not sure what it says?

It's a broad generalization, to be sure... and, is incorrect in the macro sense. I agree with you on that. But, he's explaining why SOME PEOPLE are angry, and feel like they've been ripped off. Do you not know any young people today, who have psych or music appreciation degrees, who have huge student loans and can't find a job that allows them to earn enough to pay them back? I sure do.

Watch the CNN report, and then listen to the voicemails from the Cruz campaign, note what wasn’t in the former and what was in the latter, and you will know.

Whether or not you admit it is a whole different matter, but you will know.

And the list goes on and on. I don’t know what kind of president Trump will make, but what we have now isn’t working. I’m willing to give Trump a chance. I have faith enough for that. And I can’t believe Rush Limbaugh quoting a Times story about Trump basically saying he wasn’t serious about the wall. When you swear, pledge ad vow in front of record setting crowds day after day, to build a wall and secure our border, then you are going to do it. Especial when you are Trump with a global reputation to uphold.

I like Rush. I enjoy his humor and have laughed out loud too many times to count. My kids grew up loving the Teddy Kennedy parody song for goodness sakes. Im holding out that I can return to the show after the primary.

Especially when just yesterday Rush attacked the same NY Times as a rag for the report they had on him signing on with the Gang of 8!

Leaving for Florida was the truth. Leaving the race was the lie. Why apologize if there was no lie.

I don’t seem much in there about pro or con about college. But, it is an interesting article. I think Murray is right on the money.

His Team thought "Carson going to Florida" meant he was leaving the race. That was a mistake that Cruz's Team made, still can't see how you get Cruz telling a lie out of that. Why would he sabotage the rest of his campaign to possibly take a few votes from Carson in Iowa? It's obvious that it was a mistake.

This modern day form of instant communication through Twitter and other internet forums such as Facebook is creating a new set of problems for political races on voting day. Problems that may have to be addressed through new campaign laws.

Clap, clap, clap!!!! Take a bow dear FReeper FRiend!!

The noob really walked into that one!!

What times they were when we were so active!! One memorable moment you left out was being protected by mounted police when the opposing side was getting a little too close and menacing. And the compliments we so often received from the police.

About Rush —— one of the great things I have always liked about him is how he can analyze a subject from a different angle than anyone else. So many times I will look at the radio and say-— “” Huh! Never thought of it that way””

Do you not know any young people today, who have psych or music appreciation degrees...

Absolutely, and I can find homosexuals who raise children and I can find actual photographs of elephants living in trees.  Let's face it; elephants don't live in trees, kids raised by homosexual parents are extremely rare, and student loans are a smart move because a college degree doubles your income  --and Rush is wrong about his anti-college schtick.

::: Applause :::

We thank you and hubbs for your tireless efforts for so many years. It’s a group effort and some of the group accepts more of the burden and we appreciate those who do.

Hopefully Enlightened1 will follow your lead and in 10-15 yrs can say the same.

Oh really? Explain how Cruz was for H1-B expansion before he was against it.

this is the problem with these “Perfection” arguments. No one is pure and perfect. When you claim to be, as Cruz has done, the dirt of past errors is much more noticeable.

From Sen Cruz’s website

http://www.cruz.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=137

Sen. Cruz Presents Measure to Strengthen, Improve Legal Immigration
Offers amendment to increase H-1B visas to help improve, retain high-skilled labor force
May 14, 2013
|
press@cruz.senate.gov / (202) 228-7561

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today presented an amendment to the Gang of Eight immigration bill that would improve our nation’s legal immigration system by increasing high-skilled temporary worker visas, called H-1B visas, by 500 percent. The measure would effectively address the needs of our nation’s high-skilled workforce by helping meet the growing demand for workers in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. It will also make block grants available to states to promote STEM education efforts and increase domestic STEM professionals. The committee voted against the amendment 4 to 14 with every Democrat voting against it on a party-line vote.

“I strongly support legal immigration. Legal immigration is a fundamental pillar of our nation’s heritage, and I was pleased today to offer legislation that would have improved and expanded legal immigration by dramatically increasing the cap for high-tech temporary worker visas. This amendment would not only improve the current system, but would also encourage economic growth and create new jobs in America. There is currently a serious shortage of workers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, yet every year we send thousands of high-tech graduate students back to their home countries to start businesses and create jobs. This makes no sense. I’m disappointed in the committee’s vote to reject expanding high-tech immigration. Although the Gang of Eight’s bill makes a modest step towards improving high-tech immigration, it does not go nearly far enough. There is no reason to arbitrarily cap high-tech visas at 110,000 when these jobs are going unfilled. We need economic growth here and now.”

Sen. Cruz’s amendment would:

Immediately increase the H-1B cap by 500 percent from 65,000 to 325,000.

To truly fix our broken immigration system and take into account our nation’s economic needs, we must put more emphasis on increasing employment-based immigration. There is a current shortage of qualified high-skilled workers in the U.S., with an estimated 230,000 advanced-degree STEM jobs going unfilled by 2018.
Additionally, more H-1B workers mean more jobs for American workers – according to a study by the American Enterprise Institute, for every additional 100 H-1B workers, 183 jobs are created for U.S. citizens.

Help retain the high-skilled workers that are trained in the U.S. by allowing “dual intent.”

This would allow foreign students at U.S. colleges and universities to enter the U.S. on a temporary H-1B visa if they intend to get a Green Card once they complete their studies.
Currently, about 300,000 students come to America annually to be educated, but are required to return home upon completing their education.

Create block grants for states to promote STEM education in their public schools by raising H-1B fees.

These block grants will encourage educating our children in these high demand fields, opening more doors of opportunity to future generations. According to the Joint Economic Committee, between 2010 and 2020, demand for STEM graduates is expected to grow by 17 percent, while employment for those graduates will increase only 14 percent, partly because American graduates are not available or qualified to fill these jobs.
The block grant program would be funded by raising H-1B fees from $750 to $1,250 for businesses with fewer than 25 employees, and from $1,500 to $2,500 for those with 25 or more employees.

Thanks so much for the compliments, FRiend, but YOU were also very instrumental at so many of the numerous rallies/protests we all participated in back then. You and we, and so many others drove many miles, and spent our own dime to rally for The Cause many, many times. Those were the days, huh? Memorable times, priceless memories.

Yes, I remember the drama that ensued when the DC mounted police barely separated us from Medea Benjamin, Cindy Sheehan and the legions of Code Pink (and other drugged-up) anti-war whackos at the Gathering of Eagles. That was one astonishing day.

We had two non-FReeper friends who protested with us that day -- their first-ever protest! They're still telling their children, family and friends about what an incredible day that was!!

Hubby and I have been active well beyond the 3/17/07 Gathering of Eagles gigantic rally. We got involved with non-FReepers at Tea Party events and rallies, both locally here in CT, and in other states. We have told TP activists our "pre-Tea Party" 'war stories'. I have to say the newly-enlightened Tea Party activists were amazed that so many people had been so active long before 2009.

But those were good times, back in our prime FReeping days! (Even while darting spit and cans of beer) I have so many photos and stories, all mixed up everywhere. Hubby has been bugging me to get all this stuff into a scrapbook or two... what a story it would tell. :-)

I wish a new generation of FReepers would take up The Cause now... where are they??

Well, thank you so much for your kind compliments, unsycophant. So many other long-time FReepers also deserve a lot credit for the fighting the good fight vs the Left over the past several years. Of course Jim Robinson would get the highest honor!

Hopefully Enlightened1 will follow your lead and in 10-15 yrs can say the same.

Yes, I would love to see that! But, as I lamented to my good FRiend Exit148 in post 217 on this thread: Where is that new generation of FReepers who will lead the cause vs the Left now??

Unfortunately it's been kind of quiet around here for the past several years, as far as real activism goes...
