A new CNN/ORC national poll (full pdf below) is being highlighted in the media discussion based on the top-line results: Donald Trump 49% !
However, thats not the real headline in the data. The real lead story should be the damage Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz have done to themselves as they continue a scorched-earth campaign.
The first signals of a backlash appeared over the weekends polling when it became clear Senator Rubio and Senator Cruz where losing support at an exponential rate the longer they continued to make unfounded accusations. Donald Trump and Ben Carson are benefactors of the Rubio/Cruz kamikaze mission.

The “high road” was Cruz’s only route to the nomination. Unfortunately, in our celebrity-obsessed society, charisma is what sells rather than ideas, and Cruz has many great ideas but near-zero charisma.
Trump loses to Hillary in this poll. Cruz and Rubio both win against Hillary in this poll. One of the problems for Trump is that he is only pulling 85% of the Republican vote in he general, where as Cruz gets 90% and Rubio gets 92%.

Yah! Right!
and when Trump was at 20% he was finished. All the polls said he did not have a chance.
Then he hit 30%. Same Thing.
Then he hit 40% same thing.
Now he is hitting 49% and he is finally finished.
Lesson learned is that the polls have been 100% incorrect and anything coming from Redstate is 100% propaganda against Trump!
Wow, that is a change.
Wishful thinking. Trump is going to trounce Cruz.
I’m talking elect ability!! If 13% probably won’t support him Trump and 35% Refuse to support him.. He is going to lose the General election Period.. That is what the internal polling was telling them..
And .. still Cruz won TX by a large margin .. imagine that.
Cruz, 44-27, is the actual result... 17 points.
Trump underperforms just out every poll in the actual voting... lost IA and OK by getting 4pct less than he was polling. SC polled at 35, got 32 (and both Marco and Cruz beat polling expectations by four pts each)...
And only Trump polls behind Hillary... so when he underperforms there... ?
