CNN anchor Jake Tapper asks Donald Trump 3 times if he would condemn David Duke and the KKK
Business Insider ^ | 02/27/2016 | Colin Campbell

CNN anchor Jake Tapper repeatedly asked Donald Trump on Sunday to denounce David Duke's support for his candidacy, but Trump insisted he didn't know anything about about the former KKK grand wizard.

"Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say that you don't want his vote and that of other white supremacists in this election?" Tapper asked Trump on "State of the Union."

But Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, said he didn't have enough information to answer the question:

I don't know anything about David Duke, OK? I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So I don't know. I mean, I don't know — did he endorse me or what's going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists. And so you're asking me a question that I'm supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about.

BuzzFeed reported last week that Duke, a prominent white nationalist, urged his supporters to back Trump. Duke was quoted saying on his radio show that "voting against Donald Trump at this point is really treason to your heritage."

On his Sunday show, Tapper continued to press Trump on the subject.

"Even if you don't know about their endorsement, there are these groups and individuals endorsing you. Would you just say unequivocally that you condemn them and you don't want their support?" he asked Trump.

But Trump again insisted again he didn't know about Duke:

I have to look at the group. I mean, I don't know what group you're talking about. You wouldn't want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about. I have to look. If you would send me a list of the groups, I will do research on them.

That’s a patently bad practice for the Democrats but it doesn’t give Trump or anyone else a free pass to support bad actors by not commenting on them. I glad to hear Trump disavowed the Duke endorsement via Twitter but I still feel he should have done the same with Tapper’s question.

Did I say I was an expert in IQ? No. It doesn’t take an expert to poke holes in an IQ estimate based on nothing but an estimate of the person’s SAT scores, which, in turn, was based on nothing but what college the person attended went to, especially when that person transferred into the college. It is a demonstrably foolish way to estimate IQ.

But if you want to believe something that is demonstrably wrong, just because it was posted on the Internet by someone purporting to be an expert psychotherapist (who did not even claim to have ever examined Trump, met him, or otherwise evaluated his IQ by any means other than Trump’s college attendance), then go right ahead.

That was what I heard. I believe it was during a rally he held Friday. The interview with CNN was done last Sunday wasn’t it? It’s hard to believe that anybody doesn’t know who David Duke is but my husband didn’t until this morning when he heard them talking about it on Fox News and he asked me who he was. Of course my husband knows about the KKK but he didn’t know who David Duke was. I am glad Trump disavowed him though.

I remember 1968 when NIXON was running for President. Cartoonist Al Capp was on the road for Nixon and he could shut down Hippie protesters easily, UNTIL some of the Hippies came in with pro-Nixon signs.

Fox News is now losing their business because they crossed the line to back the GOPe. They are owned by a billionaire socialist from Australia who has a hate for Donald and they have a political news director whose son is married to the daughter of Marco Rubio.

So strike 2 for you. First the NY Times, and now Fox News.

But as I expected, as soon as Donald got off the set with Tapper, he got updated by one of his trusted advisors and came out with this:

Hope you enjoyed your pettiness while it lasted, say all of 15 minutes.

Look, I’m just funnin’ with you, zeedee. So calm down. I actually do appreciate your comments. There is nothing I hate worse than a bunch of global warming idiots using appeals to authority to make their point.

I was asked to provide a link and that was the first one I found at so I cut and pasted it. If we wanted to waste the entire day I am sure we could find lots of links on this subject. It is ridiculous however to think that someone who has been as successful as Trump is not intelligent.

If you want to find links about something that demonstrates true stupidity google Ted Cruz alcohol.

I know you don’t care, but do you really believe that Trump, a self-professed genius, does not know who David Duke is?

Face facts. Trump does not want to alienate any potential voters, including KKK members, so despite his trying to distance himself from those evil politicians he is acting no differently than them.

Yes, and he was a "Grand Kleagle" in the KKK (as well as a Grand Kleagle in the Demonic-rat party)!

(Also, the demonic-rat heroine, the pro-abortion/pro- eugenics Margaret Sanger, worked closely with the KKK.   She was a blatant racist, who believed blacks were an inferior race, and should be completely eliminated.)

And if he did that, his fans would love him even more for it.

We all expected it. He changes his opinions daily.
The sad thing is that he actually needs an adviser to tell him to disavowed the Ku Klux Klan and David Duke.

The point is, the Dems don’t “distance themselves” from ANYBODY.

And the media never demand they do so.

It’s all good. Things have just gotten so heated in this election that it’s gotten difficult to tell between people messing around and not.

He changed his opinion on Duke? He never had an opinion with Tapper. He had no information or didn’t remember, so he didn’t have an opinion. Then after he was updated, he made a statement that was an opinion. That’s called being cautious with scheming lying media who lie every day and scheme to trip him up.

But what is obvious is your stretching a nonissue into any issue that fits your mold.

> “He changes his opinions daily.”

Such BS. You have now destroyed any credibility you ever had an opportunity to gain. You are a vacuous Trump hater. Have fun with your developing ulcers.

Oh I know, and I have got no problem with your post. You made some good points. My best friend is a strong Cruz supporter and many of the people I respect here the most. Unfortunately, I think this election is going to be more challenging than expected, and I feel Trump has got the best chance of winning the general.

“And who else should Trump distance himself from because the Media Propagandists say so? That’s what good little Republicans do.”

Oh please... does Trump not have enough situational awareness about Duke (who also harbors “truther” ideations about 9-11) and enough basic good sense to simply say “I reject any association with David Duke?” And don’t insult anyone’s intelligence here by pushing the notion Trump knew nothing about Duke.
