After Jamiel Shaw's son, Jamiel Shaw Jr., was killed back in 2008, there was a splash of media attention mourning the senseless murder of a young man on the right path. Then came a long, dark silence when it seemed that the world forgot.
But Donald Trump, who Shaw believes was "sent from God," didn't forget.
Last year, the Republican presidential candidate contacted Shaw to talk about the tragedy, in which Shaw's 17-year-old son was killed while walking home. Two Hispanic men had waylaid him, demanding to know what gang he was in. The young man, a star football player with a bright future, did not reply immediately. He was then shot by a gunman who was in the U.S. illegally.
"Since my son was dead, I pretty much gave up on being happy," Shaw said.
Then came a surprise. Trump asked to meet with Shaw in person.
"To see somebody, especially a billionaire, come out. I can't even get a neighborhood politician to come out, that's why it's so surreal to me," Shaw said.
They met. Shaw talked about his son. Trump made a pledge.
"He told me to my face, he said, 'I promise you I would never let your son's life be in vain.' To me it felt like the (future) president cared about me," Shaw said.
Shaw said he had never contacted the Trump campaign, but has since guessed that someone in the campaign saw an interview Shaw did on Fox News.
Shaw said Trump's immigration policy runs far deeper that just border security.
"People are looking at immigration as just an immigration issue, but people are dying. It's a fact. What good is the economy, healthcare, going to school, if people are dying?" Shaw asked. "Trump is doing things he doesn't have to do. He can buy a whole island and get away from crime."
He said his meeting with Trump, which eventually led to Trump's campaign using his son's murder in an ad, changed him.
"This was the first time I thought everything's really gonna be all right. To me, he was sent from God," said Shaw.
It’s clear the term “conservative” doesn’t describe the movement behind Trump.

If being a conservative means sitting on your hands while the country crashes due to immigration, bad trade deals, and companies & jobs moving overseas, well...not many people are going to continue to sign up for THAT.

He started off the presser just blasting the press for their coverage. The pressers ended up crying after hearing the stories.
I only wish ANY of the other candidates stepped forward like this. If they don't, it's because they DON'T CARE !

Ted Cruz decided to run for president after God spoke to his wife, Heidi.
That's how Rafael Cruz, Ted's father and a born-again pastor, described his son's decision-making process. Speaking on a syndicated radio show at the end of last year, the elder Cruz recounted that during a Sunday prayer session at a Texas church, Ted Cruz and his family sought God's guidance as to whether the senator should enter the presidential race, and after two hours of praying, God sent a message to Heidi that essentially said: Go for it.
Here's the story, according to Rafael Cruz:
My son Ted and his family spent six months in prayer seeking God's will for this decision. But the day the final green light came on, the whole family was together. It was a Sunday. We were all at his church, First Baptist Church in Houston, including his senior staff. After the church service, we all gathered at the pastor's office. We were on our knees for two hours seeking God's will. At the end of that time, a word came through his wife, Heidi. And the word came, just saying, "Seek God's face, not God's hand." And I'll tell you, it was as if there was a cloud of the holy spirit filling that place. Some of us were weeping, and Ted just looked up and said, "Lord, here am I, use me. I surrender to you, whatever you want." And he felt that was a green light to move forward.

What numbers do you have that makes you think that?
Without knowledge of what it costs to run this place without annoying ads I don’t see how you make the above remark.
I frequent other sites with more modern software. You can’t type 15 words a minute due to constant lockups from all the ads loading and trying to run. What happens here is fixable if one previews before posting.
I’ll take that trade any day over the other sites.
The difference is Cruz says it about himself.

I hate to tell you but it is an easy fix. Simple RegEx expression in the validation code when posting replacing the offending characters with acceptable ones and viola. Fixed. It is a UTF8 <-> ANSI issue. Sanitize posts in existing code, and you will not invoke hardly any additional CPU cycle overhead. Nothing else would be affected. A few CPU cycles to find the offending characters and replace them in memory before committing the post to the database.
Example: wouldn’t would become wouldn’t Look at the character in the post you made. copy and paste your original wouldn’t to me, and copy and paste my wouldn’t as well. It is a slanting ‘ Straight ones work fine. “ is another one. Opening and closing quotes mess up. Straight ones (ASCII) work fine.

It will be fixed in time. I accept that. Others won’t.
Hmmm straight quotes and apostrophes are modified by either FR or the front end and go fubar. My solution would still work. It has to be a smart quote setting in the backend database, or a bug. Either way, simple fix.
My regex solution would work 100% guaranteed.
