House Speaker Paul Ryan said Tuesday the rise of Donald Trump can be explained by voters being fed-up that America is on the wrong track. Ryan blamed the progressive policies of President Barack Obama.
"You have conservatives, like myself, ... who are very upset about the direction of the country," Ryan told "Squawk Box" on CNBC. "You have people in America panicked because they have economic anxiety."
As House speaker, Ryan is not supporting any one candidate as the nomination contests continue.
"There's nothing we can do about what's going on in the presidential election and what the outcome of that is in Congress," said Ryan, who said he's going to concentrate on crafting a conservative agenda that a Republican president can help execute.
Trump, the GOP front-runner, takes his weekend win in South Carolina and his victory earlier this month in New Hampshire into Tuesday's Nevada caucus. Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz look to halt Trump's roll.
Next week's Super Tuesday contests feature primaries in Cruz's home state of Texas, Virginia, and many others. And then on March 15, the day states can award delegates on a winner-take-all basis, Rubio's home base of Florida is among states going to the polls.
Trump's home state of New York holds its primary on April 19, with the final contests coming later that month and in May and early June. The Republican Party holds its nominating convention in Cleveland, Ohio in mid-July.
Ryan will play a key role at the GOP convention, which is run under the rules of the House of Representatives. The speaker presides over the convention, and typically opens and closes the gathering.

Ryan, you are an even bigger liar than Obama and his cult. At least they walk their talk while you and your cult just talk and then walk with them. You and the GOP are despicable.

The republicans in congress have the power to stop these “progressive policies” but they refuse to use it.

Wait until he sees the reaction he’ll get when he throws his support behind Rubiot....we all know it’s coming.
Now knowing the complete lack of self awareness Ryan has, one can understand the beat down he got at the hands of Biden in the VP debate.

Ryan needs to put down the fake letters democrats are sending him (pretending to be conservatives) and get real... We’re upset that we elect people who go to Washington and DO NOTHING they run on... and spend all their time kissing the butts of people who give them large ‘donations’.
Change the system Paul... switch incentives so the people paying the rent (us) and your salary (us) and all your damn perks (us) have a voice.

Oh, and Paul Ryan, if you want to destroy Social Security RUN ON THAT ISSUE.
If you don’t want to close the damn border QUIT GETTING ELECTED ON THAT ISSUE>
Maybe the American people are sick of ‘bait and switch’ and we’re NOT irrationally angry... We’re sick of liars like you and your buddies playing everyone for fools.
If a company did ‘bait and switch’ they would be criminally libel...

Robespierre, Napoleon, Hilter, Mussolini, Stalin, Obama ...
All Ego-maniac power hungry, deceptive, populist, lying (both sides of the argument) ... riding a wave of angry voters.
Is this America's Donald Trump in 2016 ?
As a FreeRepublic (Class of 1998) patriot, who's posted many times applauding Donald Trump's ideas and courage ...
I continue to be "incrementally" dismayed at Donald Trump's demeanor and apparent personal immaturity.
How about You ?
How are we supposed to support a candidate who has a "Howard Dean Moment" once a week ?
Will a Donald Trump "better deal at this time (2017-2018)" cancel-out "The Mexico Wall" ?
Frankly, it would be GREAT if Donald Trump could "morph" into the "more civilized" candidate that he's promised to at some point.
Finally, let's consider General George S. Patton Jr. for a moment.
Patton was a fierce warrior against the Nazis.
That was good.
Kinda like Donald Trump regarding The Mexico Wall, halting Islamic Visas temporarily, ending Sanctuary Cities, rebuilding the military, and several other points.
But General Patton voiced his genuine respect to German General Erin Rommel.
"Rommel, You magnificent bastard -- I read your book !"
Does Donald Trump ever do that ? "No" or very rarely.
No ... Donald Trump rarely behaves like Gen. George Washington.
Indeed ... Donald Trump perfectly mimics the "Do ANYTHING to ACHIEVE Power and Wealth" like the 1880 American "Robber Barrons".
Ouch !
Kinda like the GOPe "bastards" who screwed Chris McDaniels in Mississippi in 2014.
Kinda like Hitler's Nazi Brownshirts who viciously attacked ANY and ALL who dared voice ANY criticism or dissent against their DEAR LEADER.
It's estimated that almost four-million Conservative Americans REFUSED in 2012 to vote for Mitt Romney ... considering Mitt a galaxy-class @sss-hole.
I personally held my nose and voted for Romney anyway.
But 4,000,000 America Conservatives told Mitt Romneny to GO TO HELL.
Donald "Scorched Earth Victory at any Price" Trump risks the same fate.
The painful TRUTH is Donald Trump has become an @sshole.
Kinda like a nausetating version of New York's Chuck Schummer.
This is such a Shakespearean tragedy in light of Donald Trump's great ideas (see above list).
These words will "certainly" represent a moment of "cognitive dissonance" for many Donald Trump supporters at FreeRepublic.
Film at Eleven.

More weaselspeak from Ryan.
Upset or Mad is nothing the proper term.
We need the next president to come in and clean house.
I’d like to see Trump or Cruz walk in and start exposing these criminals to the American public.
Starting with obamao on down.

After Trump secures the nomination, watch for him to start working to get a like minded Congress. Too bad it's too late to primary some RINOs.
