Rick Tyler, the Senior Communications Advisor for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), issued a public apology after spreading a false story reporting that Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) made a nasty comment to a Cruz staffer about the Bible.
"I want to apologize to Senator Marco Rubio for posting an inaccurate story about him here earlier today," Tyler wrote on Facebook after sharing the false story online. "The story misquoted a remark the Senator made to the staffer. I assumed wrongly that the story was correct."
The false report indicated that Rubio said that there were "not many answers" in the Bible -- when in fact, Rubio commented that "all the answers" were in the book of scripture.
Tyler indicated that he communicated with the Cruz staffer in the video, who explained that Rubio had made a "friendly and appropriate remark" about the Bible.
"Since the audio was unclear, I should not have assumed the story was correct," Tyler wrote. "I've deleted the post because I would not knowingly post a false story. But the fact remains that I did post it when I should have checked its accuracy first. I regret the mistake."

Right after Trump apologizes for the fake Coburn tweet. They can all eat crow together, right?
There are too many missteps by Cruz’s staff- maybe they are plants from Trump. Ted needs to get a handle on this.
Well what do you expect from the foreigner Cruz?? He wasn’t born with American sensibilities.
Roe’s reputation is well known in the election business. Cruz chose him.
That says Cruz was willing to stoop down pretty low to get to his lifetime goal.
Who was it said, "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."?
How long before we hear that "______ chews with his mouth open." or that "________ dealt an especially stinky fart at his presser." ?
We are living in the Idiocracy.
Check out who his top staffers are. Explains everything
Exactly what I see from the Trump supporters on this forum. Very sad that we cannot have intelligent discourse.
Exactly my point. When we had a thread about that event some months ago and Cruz’s initial hiring of Jeff came up I expressed my concern at that time.
I will have to say that the suicide seemed to have a number of causes so I can’t say that the dirty trickster was the root cause.
I don’t believe Trump ever apologized for the misattribution to Coburn, but he took down the tweet withon hours of putting it up, and he never defended putting it up or remarking on it. I wish he’d have made a public apology to Coburn and Cruz, that would be the right thing to do.
He is sleazy..
I wonder if Trump has baited Cruz into acting this way.
Trump has nothing to do with slimy Rick Tyler pushing (another) false report, for the CRuz campaign. CRuz is responsible for himself, and his campaign.
I will say it and STILL say it. In my opinion reading the dailies from CW and her cabal, and those nomad rover slams by them on other threads, there is far more Trump bashing going on than Cruz bashing.
I have NEVER said one thing about Cruz that fits the same thing I see from Cruzers about Trump. I used to be a Cruz supporter as #1, but I finally got just plain sick and tired of CW and the rest trashing Trump daily and parroting Cruz mania over and over and over again. The worst thing I’ve ever said about Cruz is about his endorsement and appearances with Glenn Beck. Bad choice.
The difference between me and them is that if Cruz gets the nomination, I will gladly and proudly vote for him, and you will NEVER get the really agitated Trump haters here to say the same thing for Trump. Never.
It would have been but Trump gets away with it while the tweet from Cruz staff was also deleted and a public apology tendered. There is a definite double standard.
I support Cruz and I am not a dishonest liar. These kind of attacks on Cruz supporters do not belong here. These tactics are straight out of the Alinsky playbook.
Cruz’s principles who never allow him to join with Rubio.
TRUTH!
Well, at least it’s nice to have a candidate that’s willing
to apologize for something,
******************
Cruz didn’t apologize for anything. It was his staffer who
made the statement that apologized for making the statement.
‘Roe’s reputation is well known in the election business. Cruz chose him.
That says Cruz was willing to stoop down pretty low to get to his lifetime goal.’
There is certainly truth in your post. Otoh, if you looked at Cruz’ choice of campaign manager from a purely psychological POV, a different explanation could be posited. Not sure to what degree I feel like risking Cruz supporters ire by elaborating. The thumbnail version is that Cruz was raised by alcoholics, and Dad abandoned his wife and son when Ted was at a vulnerable age. That kind of trauma leaves a lasting impression. I’ll let it go at that.
