Rick Tyler, the Senior Communications Advisor for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), issued a public apology after spreading a false story reporting that Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) made a nasty comment to a Cruz staffer about the Bible.
"I want to apologize to Senator Marco Rubio for posting an inaccurate story about him here earlier today," Tyler wrote on Facebook after sharing the false story online. "The story misquoted a remark the Senator made to the staffer. I assumed wrongly that the story was correct."
The false report indicated that Rubio said that there were "not many answers" in the Bible -- when in fact, Rubio commented that "all the answers" were in the book of scripture.
Tyler indicated that he communicated with the Cruz staffer in the video, who explained that Rubio had made a "friendly and appropriate remark" about the Bible.
"Since the audio was unclear, I should not have assumed the story was correct," Tyler wrote. "I've deleted the post because I would not knowingly post a false story. But the fact remains that I did post it when I should have checked its accuracy first. I regret the mistake."

I supported Cruz from early on and still think he’d make a great president, but the way he has run his campaign is downright Clintonian.
I know these types of things are not coming from Cruz himself. but its time for a shake up in his staff.
I guess an apology is better than nothing, at this point.
I would fire anyone dumb enough to think that Marco Rubio would say actually say something so stupid as was suggested in the inaccurate captions, but that’s just me.
Ouch. Cruz himself needs to address this with his staff. It continues the narrative of dishonesty/deceit that may or may not be true.
This just makes the perpetrator look petty and childish.
Cruz really needs to get control of his campaign.
I think you only need to look at some of the venomous articles here from HuffPo, Slate, Salon, NR and other venues by a few Cruz supporters here to see why.
I like Ted Cruz and think he is a capable and decent man but there are some of his supporters that have developed such an irrational fixation on trashing anyone that opposes him in any way possible. They revel in it and they aren’t going to quit until Ted is overcome by Rubio and forced out.
I truly believe they hate Trump so bad that they will continue until Rubio takes out Ted, and then they’ll champion Rubio to get Trump. They’ll not stop.
This Tyler guy hasn’t been fired yet? Telling.
CanuckTed has always been a slimey, despicable politician who will say or do anything.
Simply put, CanuckTed is getting exposed or, as someone once elegantly stated...
“He is exactly who we thought he was”

btw, CanuckTed is campaigning with that lunatic Glenn Beck again in NV - “birds of a feather...”.
The common point for Clinton and Cruz is Goldman Sachs.
So Cruz’s staff makes a mistake relaying an incorrect media report and apologizes immediatly... Trump spreads lies of his own making and doubles down. Interesting display of character by each candidate.
Yeah, dirt is not a good thing to dish.
I wonder if Trump has baited Cruz into acting this way. Cruz would have been better off to respond to Trump’s angry tirades with a “bless your heart.”
I’m going to give Cruz the benefit of the doubt and say that these repeated missteps are mistakes by his staffers and not by him. But he should have done a better job of choosing his staff.
And yet he’s picked the kind of people who would run with a juicy dirt story without checking it out.
The devil can’t drive out the devil.
I used to think Cruz was a standup guy. No more. Once again he lies before voting and apologizes after the votes are counted. Disgraceful.
Beck is fasting for Cruz, and Cruz is still spreading lies. Good grief.
That is to be expected from the “anti-establishment outsider” candidate with the perfect professional politician insider resume and life story.
Well, at least it’s nice to have a candidate that’s willing to apologize for something, as oppose to one who apologizes for nothing, not even to God.
It would be better if he invited Cruz for a dinner with thanksgiving.

He’s using Beck to court the Mormon vote, which was Mitt’s strategy there as well because there are a lot of them in NV. Guess we’ll see if it pays off, but from what I’m reading, the GOP apparatus in Nevada is a mess and the caucus is going to be a clown show.
Also, Mitt Romney was an actual Mormon and generally a reserved guy who didn’t come off at totally crazy. Glenn Beck thinks his next hangnail is a sign of the unfolding apocalypse, engages in ridiculous tent preacher theatrics, and I guess kind of sort of is a Mormon because his wife is. I don’t think the strategy will work out as well as it did for Mitt.
