Let's dispel the notion that Marco Rubio did not know who he was talking to. When Rubio walked into the lobby of the Columbia Hampton Inn this morning -- conveniently the same one where the Daily Pennsylvanian staffers are posting up in South Carolina and were eating breakfast around 10:30 a.m. -- he was presumably not expecting to run into Rafael Cruz, father of presidential candidate Ted Cruz, and Cruz campaign staffer Christian Collins.
However, once he saw them he decided to have some fun with them.
"Got a good book there," Rubio said to Collins, a young Cruz staffer in a suit, about the book he was reading over his cup of coffee.
"Not many answers in it, especially that one" Rubio added tersely and walked out of the lobby without a backward glance.
Collins was visibly taken aback after being addressed by his boss' political rival. Rafael Cruz and Collins proceeded to discuss under the incident in hushed voices for several minutes.
-snip-.
UPDATE: a Cruz staffer just confirmed that the book in question was a Bible.

The video was made by The Daily Pennsylvanian, whose staffers were eating breakfast at the time and heard the exchange live.
Watch his lips. I don’t see “maybe.” I’d be glad to defer to someone with forensic credentials, but I can’t see the softened alternatives suggested so far. Just my own reaction.
Peace,
SR
I watched the video about 10 times now... Maybe the line “Not many answers in it” could be something else since it’s kind of unintelligible... Depends who you believe, but the staffer’s face of pure SHOCK lends me to believe his side of the story.
Regardless of the line what we see here is Rubio being extremely rude by not stopping and saying hello to Ted’s dad. You’re for Trump but you know Donald would take time and say hello.
That makes much more sense.
Very informative post, Springfield Reformer, and you could be right that an expert could weigh in. IMO, it would take an expert . . and I would still be hard to persuade that a crafty politician like Rubio would be so stupid.
Do you realize that the justification that Rubio defamed the Bible publicly lied on the slim premise that he used the word NOT. Did he say ‘Not many answers in that one (pointing to the Bible)? Or could he have said ‘AND many answers in that one (pointing to the Bible). Can you positively discern that first word without a doubt?
Or possibly he said ‘Many answers in that one’ and the video might have made it seem like a little three-letter word was inserted prior to ‘Many answers in that one’.
Not even Bernie Sanders . . with his questionable faith beliefs . . would be so ignorant as to walk up to Hillary’s people and make such a degrading statement about The Book that the majority of Americans consider their most inspirational. It is still the #1 all-time Best Seller.
“Youâre for Trump but you know Donald would take time and say hello.”
Well, you’ve won this debate with that crafty remark, SteveSCH. You took all the argument right out of me. Well done.
The staffer wasn’t shocked. He looked like he thought Rubio was a schmuck because Rubio had just made a joke at the Cruz campaign’s expense. He said “maybe the answer’s in it’ while pointing at the Bible, as if to tell Ted and his staff to pray and seek answers to Ted’s third place finish. One can think little of Rubio and not think he’d stoop low enough to disparage the Bible in front of a room full of people.
It’s also quite possible that the Cruz staffers misunderstood what Rubio said.
Petulant, spoiled child.
I understand as does Marco that republicans need more Hispanics to vote for the GOP. He was trying to see a way to do this,Caucasians will be outnumbered soon if they are not already, and the rat giveaway programs support suck the Hispanics in to the abyss. I was not happy that Marco was not on the job all that he should have been, but nobody is 100 percent in my book, anyone that insists on 100 percent is fragile and is not realistic. If you do not bend at all,you break...
Or “got many answers in it.”
Never say never. IF he is the nominee, you have some choices to make. Those are up to you, however, a write in vote or to not vote is a vote for the Democrats.
If you can see his lips mouth the word “not” you’ve got the eyes of the Six Million Dollar Man. Neither the video or the audio are that clear. I don’t believe he said “not many answers” because that makes no sense in the context of the conversation and because if there’s one thing Rubio is not, it’s stupid.
Sarcasm duly noted... Back on topic; you seem hell bent on defending Marco here... Regardless of what he said was being a shmuck and should be called out on it.
Here are the reporters other articles:

Yes its a school paper but judging from her past I doubt she’s a Cruz campaign plant...
“Sarcasm duly noted”
Sarcasm not intended . . I am always nicer on Sundays.
” His? the reporter was a women.”
You’re probably right . . but in this transformative transgender society in which the Libs have forced us . . who knows?
But you’re probably right.
I too listened to the audio very carefully. If I were to speculate it seems to me that Rubio’s comments were intended for Mr Cruz Sr’s ear. In the heat of a campaign in a hotel and while trying to juggle several things at once more than likely Rubio forgot where he was and couldn’t help himself when the moment presented itself to mock Cruz Sr...maybe a Cuban thing. I’ll leave it to others to verify the exact words used, the book(s) referred to, etc., but if this is what it appears to be and what I think it is then Rubio is faced with some serious damage control. Imagine Ted Cruz demanding an apology from señor Rubio at the next debate in front of millions.
Let me throw this one out there. I would not put it past Trump and Rubio that they may have already discussed the VP slot. Trump deals. Rubio deals. And have they yet to have gone after each other? Nope. Think about it.
For all you know she is an operative or agent doing damage control by sowing doubt, confusion and alternatives.
While that is arguable I'll accept it. With that being said, I won't accept the translation of an inaudible Youtube video.
One only has to google the taker of the video, some guy named Mizbani, to see that not even he offered what Rubio was purported to say..........
I'll say this once again, I have no problem with legitimate criticism of all OUR candidates but I'm not going to side with the MSM or the internet cowboys whose sole objective is to bring down each and every one of our candidates using innuendo, flat out lies and personal bias........
With that being said, I'd just as soon as Rubio and Carson step aside and let Trump and Cruz duke it out..........
