My observations on the Republican Primary.
The pattern of isolating one player at a time before taking them out, that Trump is using is very calculating.
He and his team studied each of the other candidates, their strengths and weaknesses and what they had to do to continue.
He used that information to egg them on and to let them expend money and energy to attrite each other, while he continued to suck up all the news cycles.
Mark Simone on 770 WABC Radio NY said to best the other day.
To paraphrase him, "South Carolina likes to see if you can take a punch before they will vote for you.
The 4 min takedown of both, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz with no response sealed the deal".
Also the rant against George Bush & the Iraq War effectively took George out of the campaign as he had to cancel all his scheduled Townhalls in SC.
Now who is left, lets start with the 2 who aren't any threat, John Kasich & Ben Carson.
There is no need to be concerned them and they still have some use to suck up establishment votes.
NEXT TARGET....Marco Rubio. He has been the "Plan B" of the Donor Establishment, in case America still had a bad taste for their "Plan A" guy, Jeb Bush.
As the big donors move over to him, both they and him will be in the crosshairs of Team Donald.
Now that the Bush Family has been removed for the National Stage, Marco is target #1 and will not know what hit him.
In conclusion, it is in the best interests of Trump, Cruz, Kasich & Carson to take out Rubio and I think we will start to see that happening started in the next couple of days.
Just my Opinion Fedupjohn
Never say never.
I already did. Never.
Very well done....
You mentioned the Trump team. We know very little of the Trump team Trump is put down for having no political past and thus no political skills.
However, Trump some how managed to come up with an extremely skilled and very agile team that has bested the best in the business.
We used to call those "Alinsky Tactics" around here. How come no one uses the correct attribution when referring to Trump?
Wouldn’t it be interesting for a change to have a president who owned Reid Pelosi and schumer instead of it being the other way around ?
Donald Trump is a real estate developer and a capitalist
Buying politicians across parties is a business expense, not a political endorsement
It would be foolish to think power can't make you money. How many in Congress have a net worth of less than a Million dollars? Some of them got to town with a change of suit and a carpetbag.
Trump, however, really knows how to cash in on power. He's going there to show those pikers and nickel and dime suckers how it's done.
He is his own special interest. He isn't beholden to anyone else.
Don’t be so hasty. Get back to me in 4 years on that.
Yeah, but they don't stay bought.
“America has lost their faith in politicians, especially the proffesional types that use a bible, its a smell like bad body odor.”
America has lost its faith in God...that is closer to the truth.
Trump is definitely a Republican.
Why is it always a Jew that has to teach forgiveness? I thought most of you had that part figured out... ;)
I am already working Part Deux to this post, it will appear later.
Mark Simone’s a huge Trump cheerleader .
Anti Trump FReepers keep using the same tired argument that Trump is really a liberal Democrat, so a win is really a loss.
It just doesn’t make any sense to me - if he is so liberal why would he bother to fight through 17 Republican candidates, lying the whole time to try to prove he’s conservative enough to be the Republican nominee, only to face a real Democrat, who will use all his conservative talking points against him in the general election?
If he’s that liberal, wouldn’t it be a lot easier and simpler just to run as a Democrat in the first place?
I agree with JR that he ‘sounds conservative to me’, a late bloomer to be sure, and he’s still got some wrinkles to iron out. There can be found inconsistencies in his past statements (as a non-politician) and I sometimes cringe and wish he had said one thing instead of another - often he fixes it soon thereafter. But most of his stated positions are pretty darn conservative.
And there’s another thing - he has the sense not to fall for leftist traps that true conservatives so easily fall for. For example he says get rid of Obamacare, let the markets compete across state lines, etc. - but then he adds that he won’t let the poor dying in the street, that the government will take care of these people. All the ‘true conservatives’ say horrors! single payer!, no different than Obamacare! So, because he’s smart enough to avoid liberal traps, and kind hearted enough to help people who are suffering (which real conservatives should want to do as well IMHO), he is accused of being a liberal. Sometimes I think conservatives are trying to lose.
Anyway, I do not think he is a liberal - not even close. I hope others will open their minds to the possibility that Trump is actually OK and a whole Hell of a lot better than either of the Rats running on the other side.

Plus,it’s perfectly legal for Big Money Donors to bribe politicians. It’s part of the game. Trump did it all the time. Just don’t be a politician who gets caught taking one. Here in Virginia, we have an ex-Gov in Fed Prison because he took a loan from a donor in return for just listening to his sales pitch. He didn’t give the man’s company what it wanted, the loan was paid back, ...but just listening to the sales pitch got him prison time. The guy making the” bribe “ is scot free.
Nice post!
You Cruzers are so darn sure only you can define who/what a conservative is. You don’t own the title.
The ones that are rented and don’t satisfy their donors have a hard time going back to a guy like trump don’t they?
Like Lindsey graham? Trashing trump when it turns out he was hitting up,trump for his senate campaign donations.
I think this process has opened trumps eyes to the true character of a lot of people who used to hit him up for money!
They own the title of 3rd place in SC and zero delegates.

Yeah, but they don’t stay bought.

You’re probably right, but you can rent them.
Which might be even better.
