Why Real Americans Support Israel

Posted on 02/17/2016 10:39:57 PM PST by TraditionalMerica

One of the big reasons I got fed up with the Democrats and left is that Barack Hussein Obama broke with the tradition of previous Presidents, from JFK to Nixon, Reagan, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush, all from both parties, of honouring the only free-market and free society country in the Middle East, that is Israel. Obama joins Michael Moore, Max Blumenthal, Dhimmi Carter, alongside Fidel Castro, George Galloway, Jeremy Corbyn, and other radical crazies. George HW Bush was an exception to this, tho come to think of it, he was nicer to Shamir than Obama was to Netanyahu, who BTW is more American than Barry will ever be. Unfortunately tho, Bush Sr. pushed Madrid in 1991 and Oslo was mostly negotiated before he left office (1/20/1993). GHW was also better on this issue than Dhimmi Carter, who in reality, almost scuttled Egypt/Israel peace, not facilitated it.

Year after year has yielded results like this:

Mideast sympathies race age education ideo religion

Given the 4:1 RATIO, I think it can be said: REAL AMERICANS SUPPORT ISRAEL. THOSE WHO DON'T ARE SOCIETY'S FRINGE.

Why? Because unlike the Europeans (http://www.pewglobal.org/2009/01/29/ideology-and-views-toward-the-middle-east-conflict/), who gave the world Fascism AND Communism, America honors hard work and ingenuity. Jews, as an immigrant group to this great land, have been a part since the beginning, from the time of Haym Solomon, who financed the American Revolution at the time of the original Tea Party, to today. Obama wants to claim that Muslims somehow played any role in America's beginning. He's half-right; the Caliphate was among the first major enemies of America, during the Barbary Wars. Like the Irish, Italians, Germans, and unlike Muslim immigrants, the Jews rolled with the punches and got to what was real, to quote David Lee Roth. It wasn't constant victimhood/whining.

Ideological Gaps Over Israel on Both Sides of Atlantic

Freedom House, an honourable and authoritative NGO, ranks Israel as the only "free" nation in the Middle East, in contrast to "partly free" and "not free." You can go to their site and see for yourself. https://freedomhouse.org/report/freedom-world/freedom-world-2016/

israe Freedom House: Middle East

During the Cold War, Israel fought Communist Allied Egypt, led by Gamel Nasser, a "Hero of the Soviet Union." Back then, Hafez Al-Assad was in bed with the Bolsheviks, which is the root of Putin's love for Assad. They captured their MiG planes and gave them to us. The PLO was Bolshevik backed; here is a pic of Arafat and his communist buddies . While some think maybe our relationship with Arab countries could be better weren't for the Jewish State, in reality, those places were never stable and Israel was America's bargaining chip that got the Arab countries to firm up and follow us instead of the Bolsheviks, who woulda taken over the MidEast were an American ally not there. It functioned for America geographically as Cuba did for the USSR in this part of the world; without the torture chambers of Castro and whatnot. Were not for Israel, the Bolsheviks would've achieved there what they tried to do in Central America and it woulda been much easier without our/Israel's presence than in Central America.

Bundesarchiv Bild 183-K1102-032, Berlin, Brandenburger Tor, Yasser Arafat (above: Arafat and his commie friends)

Efraim Karsh's "Islamic Imperialism", a spectacular book, tells of the history of Israel's conflict with the "Palestinians." In reality, it was never a "nationalist" conflict like liberals want you to believe. It is an Islamic conflict, dating back to the concept of fitna; that Muslims only gain land, never lose it. Israel, along with America today, stands firm against RADICAL ISLAMIC TERROR. One can find the massive amounts of contribution that Israel gives to America in this study http://www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/view/friends-with-benefits-why-the-u.s.-israeli-alliance-is-good-for-america . Israel and America are the last best hope of men on Earth blocking it from going into a thousand years of Islam darkness. The people in Europe/elsewhere who protest Israel actually are protesting America, both figuratively and literally. They see both America and Israel as "hypercapitalist" who "exploit 'indigenous'" people, yadda yadda yadda. Some even liken Palestinians to "the new 'Native Americans'." (they should really be called aboriginal. I'm American, native born, thus, I'm a "Native American." Its a BS analogy too tho; the aboriginals did get the shaft in some ways; the Palestinian Arabs got nothing like it.

OBL, ISIS, and other Radical Islamic Terrorists don't hate America because she honours Israel; they hate America because it dominates the world order instead of Muslimism. Israel is an ally, thus an easy target.

America needs a President who will authoritatively and firmly stand with the Jewish State of Israel and see to it that America forever does so thruout the ages. Anyone who does not is disqualified from leading the free world against evil, be it fascism, communism, or Islamism.

The demographic in the U.S.? Most know history. The liberal ones just didn’t learn the correct lessons from that history. Hence their opposition to the 2A. But there are a lot of conservative Jews around. ...and many are longtime members of FR, so I’m sure you’ve conversed with more than a few over the past 16 years.

Wipe out the Christians? Sounds violent.

No, you all will recognize God. Man made religion won’t exist.

If you want proof, there are more Jews in Israel today than were killed in the Holocaust.

Europe is traditionally nationalistic an antisemitic.

They hated (still do) the Jews but recognized the Jewish contribution to that Continent by turning them to ash in WWII.
After WWII there was a collective sense of war guilt and they agreed (grudgingly) to help establish the State of Israel.

By 1976 the UN was firmly in the PLO/Nonaligned/Anti-Western camp and under the then Secretary General Nazi, Kurt Waldheim, the stage was set for anti-Israel bills, decisions, resolutions and condemnations.

Then, in 1982 Israel was blamed for the Sabra and Shatilla massacre carried out by the Lebanese “Phalange” militia. That was it, That was the deciding event that put Europe and Israel on a collision course.
Now, all the pent up antisemitism flowed out openly and when combined by the huge influx of Palestinians Arab Muslims into Europe. A new mixture of hate was now called Anti-Zionism , not antisemitism mind you.

Today, it has gotten worse. The more Europe SUBMITS, CAPITULATES and is raped by the Muslim so-called “Refugees”, the more Europe appeases the Arabs by pressuring tiny, Democratic Israel to CAPITULATE and take the Arabic heat off the Europeans. It won't work.

Israel will stand steadfast while Europe dies. The US in the meantime will hopefully elect a pro-American US President who will strengthen our ties with that tiny, beleaguered nation, Israel.

The Euros murdered millions of law-abiding, highly productive citizens and decades later welcomed (and continue to welcome) millions of angry, violent, unproductive, welfare-collecting cult fanatics who with open arms. One doesn't need to be Freud to recognize the obvious Euro death wish. Just about everything they've done for over 100 years has been suicidal. They'll get their wish soon enough -- crescent moons on every one of their flags.

"If the Jewish race was persecuted so harshly in the early 40’s as we all seem to believe, then why won’t the ancestors fight?" "Seem to believe?" People believe that 6 million Jews died in The Holocaust because its the truth. The only ones who don't believe it firmly are the Islams. Also, Jewry isn't a race; its an ethnicity, as are Irish, Italians, Greeks. Ethnoreligion, is the most accurate term, as in both an ethnicity AND religion, just like the Yazidis (who the Muslims also hate) and the Druze (non-Jews who are loyal to Zionism in Israel bc it beats Islam-rule anyday). Time for the Jews to stop being Left of Obama and stand up. One of the big reasons Jews in America stayed away from the GOP so long was because of people like Pat Buchanan and Bob Novak. Donald Trump called Buchanan a "Hitler-lover," and Buchanan is indeed a Lindbergh Isolationist. GW Bush did a great job purging the GOP of types like him. Ever notice how in 2008, Obama improved on every demographic over John Kerry except Jewish voters? He also fell big in 2012, by 10% in Jewish voters.

again, forgive my naivety if i'm completely wrong.

Jews are commanded to value life over death.

Here's an example you may relate to.

Correct. The Church decided to reinterpret scripture strictly - prohibiting members from charging each other interest That caused economic depression since borrowing was about the only way to put together funds sufficient for investment or development or employment of workers. ( The stock corporation had yet to be invented, largely by the Dutch). The church then said, well -— our rules ( and they were enforceable rules then, not just preachings) do not apply to those folks who are not members. Therefore to end the suffering while maintaining the rule , the church turned to some jewish people and asked them to expand lending to get the economy resurrected , bad pun I know but that was the skinny of it. Still and all, once the church relaxed the enforcement of the rule then many Christians went into lending and if truth be fully told the Catholic merchants of Venice and a couple other major trading centers were already deeply involved in lending too ( through various bookkeeping artifacts to avoid mention of “interest” — such as contracts or practices of buying and selling same goods at different prices with a time delay In between — therefrom you can compute the effective interest rate on the funds of course — without ever using the word “interest.” The Church was fully cognizant of these evasive practices but let them go - and in return the church received very generous donations enabling it to construct the big beautiful cathedral and much more. It’s all a fascinating history.

they’re a dot on the blotter of 6 billion people!!

why do people bother them?

I think NY and CA have more people than there are Jews and they still can’t live in peace.

and now we’re sending them into Russia’s arms.

Israel was founded as a socialist country, and the damage from that still exist today. Like the Chinese and communism, the Israelis have edged away from socialism, but they still generally, at least publicly, herald the joys of socialism. Taxes and regulations are insane. Talk to an Israeli involved in business -- off the record, they'll tell you about the corruption as well. State-funded healthcare and free abortion-on-demand are sacred cows in Israel as well. Not to mention, as I'm sure already know, most Israelis are socially extremely leftist.

Suffice to say, if Israel were a state in the US it would be left of California on many, many issues. They've developed a strong technology base and sense of self-preservation, because unlike American lefties they don't have the luxury of playing make-believe when it comes to survival.

Interesting post.

I'm also baffled by the author's reliance on Freedom House as a credible source of information on global affairs. I always understood the organization to be a bunch of big-government globalists. Interestingly, their own website lists the following organizations among their top level of financial supporters:

Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs
European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights
Global Affairs Canada
Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
U.S. Agency for International Development
U.S. Department of State

What kind of U.S. non-profit and "non-partisan" organization would conduct business this way?

If the Jewish race was persecuted so harshly in the early 40s as we all seem to believe, then why won't the ancestors fight? and

2) the state of Israel, where countless ancestors of the Holocaust call home

The short answer is, of course, that their ancestors are already dead. As Inigo Montoya said in the movie The Princess Bride, "You keep using that word, but it does not mean what you think it means".

With respect, I urge you to consult a dictionary if you wish to opine online, as the saying goes. The word you should be using is descendants. Our ancestors are the generations who lived before us; our descendants are those who come after.

With that minor "nit" being clarified, the points you both raise are valid issues for discussion. In my opinion two excellent comments in the thread so far on the origination and evolution of the current status quo are those of Wyrd bið ful aræd in post 34 and Netz in post 25. I would add that Israel is just like the US in one important respect: they are a nation divided. The conflict between their socialist/statist and capitalist/individualist freedom-oriented factions has crippled, paralyzed and rendered them increasingly vulnerable to destruction by their mortal enemies.

“what does that stem from?”

Anti semetism was addressed in Sir Walter Scott’s “Ivanhoe” back in 1820! They’ve been drinking the KOOLAID longer than the US, why do you think the Nazis had it so easy in parts of Europe? Anti Israel sympathies are rampant worldwide IMHO, barely concealed here in the US.

We are at the end of an era, hanging on one administration at a time. And I would qualify that as for most of the entire existence of the US.
