February 17, 2016 (DailySignal) -- When a 9-year-old boy who identifies as Stormi, a transgender girl, started selling Girl Scout cookies, one neighbor was not amused, according to Buzzfeed.
The neighbor rebuffed him, reportedly saying, “Nobody wants to buy Girl Scout cookies from a boy in a dress.”
The neighbor is being called transphobic—but perhaps the neighbor thought he was being pranked by a boy and reacted accordingly. Not everyone assumes that a boy in a dress selling Girl Scout cookies is transgender.
Stormi looked like a boy to the neighbor because he really is a boy. Transgender people may deceive themselves, but they do not deceive others.
Life in society is not some fantasy world where a boy should pretend he has magically transformed himself into a girl simply by uttering the words “I am a girl” and changing how he presents himself.
The people who strongly object to the honest reaction from a man saying, “Nobody wants to buy Girl Scout cookies from a boy in a dress” are perhaps gender-phobic, rejecting and ridiculing the reality of male and female genders.
The people who encourage very young kids to act out, switch genders, and live a life of pretend need to understand that Stormi could be suffering from a dissociative disorder, just as happened with me. My feelings of not wanting to be a boy started in early childhood as result of cross-dressing at the hands of my grandma.
Stormi could be in need of psychotherapy, not a dress.
Caregivers all too often collaborate with a mental disorder instead of treating it. Telling a psychologically troubled boy he has changed genders is not compassion, but can become reckless parenting. By withholding psychotherapy, parents could be abusing the kid.
Living in a self-made gender fantasy world void of reality is not psychologically or emotionally healthy.
I know that to be true. I was transgender kid at the age of 4. For decades, as I tried to live in my male birth gender, the feelings of being a woman only grew stronger.
I sought help from a renowned gender specialist who told me that mine was a clear-cut case of gender dysphoria—strong, persistent feelings of identification with the opposite gender and discomfort with one’s own assigned sex. He said the only way to get relief was to surgically change genders.
I underwent gender reassignment surgery at 42 years of age after cross-dressing for most of my life.
I lived as a transgender, Laura Jensen, female, for eight years. While studying psychology in a university program, I discovered that trans kids most often are suffering from a variety of disorders, starting with depression—the result of personal loss, broken families, sexual abuse, and unstable homes. Deep depression leads kids to want to be someone other than who they are.
That information sure resonated with me.
Finally, I had discovered the madness of the transgender life. It is a fabrication born of mental disorders.
I only wish that when I went to the gender counselor for help he would have told me I couldn’t really change genders, that it is biologically impossible. Instead, he approved me for gender reassignment surgery, a surgery that, if I had been provided proper psychotherapy, would never have been necessary or appropriate.
The transgender life is often the direct result of early childhood difficulty or trauma. Assisting a young child into the fabricated ideology of a transgender life is not helping the child sort out what is real and what is fiction.
The likelihood that the child known as Stormi is suffering from separation anxiety or some other psychological disorder cannot be ignored. Stormi is living in a foster home. While it may be safe and necessary, foster care is intended to separate the child from the birth parent. This can lead to psychological disorders like separation anxiety disorder.
Separation anxiety occurs as the result of loss or separation from the birth parent. Disruption in a child’s home environment can lead to stress, depression, and anxiety. Living in a foster home even under the best conditions can be stressful to a young person.
Separation anxiety disorder and other psychological disorders can masquerade as gender dysphoria, leading caregivers and medical practitioners to misdiagnose and not provide proper or effective psychotherapies.
Stormi’s life will evolve as maturity unfolds. Most likely in 15 or 20 years, reality will set in that he really never changed genders. This is often a turning point where the trans life is not looking as good as it once did.
Thankfully, like me, many transgender persons return to the gender they once shed. Slowly they restore the life that was lost.
The three men who came up with the idea of changing boys into girls and making transgenders, Alfred Kinsey, Harry Benjamin, and John Money, were pedophilia advocates. (For more of the history, see “Sex Change” Surgery: What Bruce Jenner, Diane Sawyer, and You Should Know.)
The neighbor man was correct about one thing: The Girl Scout at his door was really a boy in a dress—just like I was as a young boy who thought I was a girl.
What does that make Gov Christie for making reparative therapy a crime in New Jersey, I wonder?
Churches have gotten narrow and stereotyped. It is they who are in need of being rebuked for being antithetical to God.
The bible says test EVERYTHING, hold onto what is good.
It is to the shame, shame, shame of the church that it ever let Freud and his ilk get past where it was. This is like Donald Trump beating the pants off of Ted Cruz, if you want a modern illustration. What the modern Christian shrinks do, is to remove the worldly, pagan portion and reinforce the godly portion from the Scriptures... and they do exceedingly well in some cases.
Some ignorants may hoot at “godly portion” but few remember that psychology had CHRISTIAN roots that predated Freud. Freud hijacked it and placed his well known Greek mythology story in place of the gospel. He did not create anything from scratch. And what does the devil do... riiiiiiiiight. Steal, kill, and destroy. And if he can get opprobrium going against what he stole, killed, and destroyed, so much the more victory for him (while he keeps it up, which he can never do forever).
This correlates with everything I have been reading on this subject in the last 6 months or so. Thanks so much for posting.
It shows that he is either ignorant or unprincipled.
I don’t know the man well enough to tell you which one is true...
Well spoken sir.
My son wanted to grow up to be a giraffe. I’m glad they don’t perform that surgery yet.
I know but I'd get banned for posting it here. I wouldn't be able to control myself once I started typing!
I agree. I was a tom boy but I had no doubt I was a girl and liked being a girl playing ball with boys when I was a child.
Didn’t the Brady Bunch dad die of AIDS? I remember medical tv series where he made a guest appearance as a man who became a woman, ala Renee Richards style. It was like a Psycho moment when the last shot is of him in a dress! It was waaay to close to home to be tv fiction!
Just make sure he doesn’t think he wants to be a Democrat! Surgery for that...a lobotomy...could be irreversible.
Well I am one of those passionate people and I am not neutral on this subject, as you can see :-).
I don’t want to be unkind to the skeptics. Peel the outer cover off of (good) Christian psychology and what you actually have is a system of wisely guided devotions. Sheep in wolf’s clothing, if we have to look at it that way.
Which, incidentally, should be the key to addressing these “bans on reparative therapy.” Just promote it as a deliverance ministry (which it can be) — NOT as psychology — and voila. We are covered by freedom of religion AND freedom of speech.
And... I will be among the first to say that yes, Christian psychology can be done hideously wrong. (I know, I have seen that too.) The moment it takes leave of the mastership of Jesus is the moment it starts getting full of itself and starts to become all the bad things that its skeptics claim it to be. I rebuked a Christian psychiatrist once for a hard hearted act and he confessed that it was. On the other hand, it was a different Christian psychiatrist who, earlier, brought me directly to the gospel. He knew where his and my spiritual bread was buttered from. Through Christ, he saved my eternal life, snatching me from the flames, and do you think I am ever going to bad mouth that kind of vessel of the Lord after having that happen?
But again this is kind of like a Ted Cruz problem. Ted Cruz might be saved, he probably is. But he still has to seek and accept and exercise the love-based powers of salvation from God or he is, as the scripture puts it, a noisy gong or clanging cymbal. It’s like a car. If you don’t drive it, it goes nowhere. And it is possible to drive it into a crash.
I, also, was what would be called a tomboy in that I loved climbing trees and having adventures rather than playing with baby dolls.
But I never thought of myself as anything but a girl. Loved putting on dresses to go to church, but during play time I was always tearing my clothes and scraping my knees because I needed to be physically active. My poor mother! :)
Yeah, and people who post this crap are nut too. Has Free Republic become the GQ of gays, lesbians and cross dressers? Does Jim wear a dress?
You could use some psychotherapy yourself.
No thanks. LOL!! :)
Putting it in New Testament terms, you could stand to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. And the fodder for that? The rest of Scripture.
See, that isn’t as satanic as you thought, was it?
Surely one doesn’t have to be weird to lament weird situations, does one?
I wonder about these folks who see love larger than life in such situations as the Brady Bunch — who, because of the script writers, will look loving in a way that is scarcely ever seen in secular life (did you ever see the Brady Bunch pray or worship? the closest they came is secular love songs).
Since they don’t know the love of God, they go, like starving hound dogs, sniffing around for whatever love they can find. The Brady Bunch formula doesn’t work — the world doesn’t behave like script writers’ output.
The answer is screamingly obvious. By hook or by (well, anything short of) crook, SHOW THE WORLD A GOSPEL IT CAN BELIEVE!!! (Could we imagine what an explicitly Christian version of Brady Bunch might look like? And at least being presented by stagecraft, you are less vulnerable to Josh Duggar like problems.)
Grrrrr... I get pretty annoyed (and so does God) that the world wallows around so pitifully. They don’t know what is less than a millimeter from their own noses.
