Draft-Dodger Trump Said Sleeping Around Was My ‘Personal Vietnam’
The Daily Beast ^ | February 16, 2016 | Tim Mak

Draft-dodger Donald Trump once said that the danger he faced from getting sexually transmitted diseases was his own “personal Vietnam.” In a 1997 interview with shock jock Howard Stern, Trump talked about how he had been “lucky” not to have contracted diseases when he was sleeping around. “I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world. It is a dangerous world out there. It’s scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam-era,” Trump said in a video that resurfaced Tuesday on Buzzfeed, “It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier.”

Hey!

Looky here! A scummy Trump hit piece!

This one’s not only full of lies (as usual), but feels the need to go back to a nineteen year old interview to try to find something to smear the guy with.

PATHETIC LOSERS.

APRIL 28--Despite Donald Trump’s claim this week that he avoided serving in the Vietnam War solely due to a high draft number, Selective Service records show that the purported presidential aspirant actually received a series of student deferments while in college and then topped those off with a medical deferment after graduation that helped spare him from fighting for his country, The Smoking Gun has learned.

During a TV interview Tuesday morning, Trump--who spent his high school years enrolled at the New York Military Academy--said, “I actually got lucky because I had a very high draft number. I’ll never forget, that was an amazing period of time in my life.”

He went on to recall, “I was going to the Wharton School of Finance, and I was watching as they did the draft numbers and I got a very, very high number and those numbers never got up to.” The word “deferment” was not mentioned by Trump during his chat with the morning show hosts on WNYW, the Fox affiliate in New York City.

After Iowa you shouldn’t mention Ted Cruz’s character.

Idiots are desperate folks, anything someone says on Howards show is for laughs, get real.

How about yesterday when Graham was at a Bush rally and asked for democrats to taise their hands, yes you guessed it Bush raised his hand

The point is not the service/lack of, but what he admits to doing and you know it.

Everyone knows he has a deformed character, but that doesn’t matter to many voters. The nation would continue to descend into moral depravity under his leadership, and we will be punished. God is not mocked, no matter how rich an unrepentant sinner is.

Hindsight perspective before commenting on this:

1) The media was full of lies and propaganda at that time. At lot of grisly stuff was on the tv that had never been there before.

2) I was at the tail end of the war. Had a low draft number and would have gone if called but didn’t volunteer. I still remember watching the lottery program on tv.

3) If I had known the truth about the war I would have volunteered. That we were very close to winning, what communism was really about and the historical perspective I have now would have changed my thinking.

4) Many times I wish I had volunteered and think it would have done me a lot of good.

It’s Howard Stern. It’s crude humor, but it’s humor.

It’ll be a gusher of revelation after he’s nominated. Then there’ll be a lot of buyer’s remorse going around.

When Ted Cruz went to college, the military was highly regarded, and patriotic young men were turning to the military for highly competitive academy appointments. Did Senator Cruz consider following that prestigious path, where he could've chosen to serve his country instead of to accrue college debt? Another question...did he register for the US draft? If not, why not?

Since he didn't choose an education combined with a military obligation, I would assume he would disown any campaign garbage about what people did in the late 1960s and 1970s. It was a very different time. Like many in his generation, Trump grew up and realized what the direction our society was going in was doing to the US.

I’m sure the 41,000 Americans killed in action in Vietnam wish they had 1% of the life Trump was granted.

Look, I know this was 20 years ago. Fine. He is in a radio interview trying to be relevant and cool...but still, an unadvised comment.

I still am undecided.

All of the candidates are flawed....sigh... :)
