Draft-Dodger Trump Said Sleeping Around Was My ‘Personal Vietnam’
The Daily Beast ^ | February 16, 2016 | Tim Mak

Draft-dodger Donald Trump once said that the danger he faced from getting sexually transmitted diseases was his own “personal Vietnam.” In a 1997 interview with shock jock Howard Stern, Trump talked about how he had been “lucky” not to have contracted diseases when he was sleeping around. “I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world. It is a dangerous world out there. It’s scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam-era,” Trump said in a video that resurfaced Tuesday on Buzzfeed, “It is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier.”

We’re not allowed to note or be aware of Trump’s life. He’s to be elected without vetting. His biography is to be treated like Obama’s. And so what if he was a cad? His pal Clinton was one. And so what if he thinks wife shucking is a Christian duty? Geez. When did conservatives become so beholden to old fashion values. That’s for religious people, not the brave new populist/nationalist “conservatives.” We’re picking a president. Why should we care if Trump betrays women, lovers, wives, or business partners? Trump is the leader. The leader is always right.

It was only a matter of time before some of this Howard Stern stuff found its way out of the vault. That and the days of him in a wrestling ring with the WWE. And his Playboy interviews where he discusses his “conquest of women”.
All very presidential, of course.

Agree. While we’re at it, just for giggles, Katie, tell me where Jeb Bush was? Where were any of them on the slate except Rick Perry who had ever been in the military? No

For that matter, what about Bill Clinton, or even Bernie Sanders (rumored to have used CO to avoid the draft)?

Nice try darlin’ No sale. TDS drive-by

You remember all those soccer moms who thought Bill Clinton was the bad boy only they could have tamed, in high school?

They're in their fifties now, resenting that Melania got so lucky.

I think we have plenty of current policy based problems with Trump to deal with.

Vietnam Veterans Plaza
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnam_Veterans_Plaza

Vietnam Veterans Plaza, also known as the New York Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is an American memorial plaza in the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York. It honors New York City citizens who served during the 20th-century Vietnam War.

Located in the Financial District in Lower Manhattan, it lies on a trapezoidal parcel of land that was formerly a roadway named Coenties Slip. The slip road was used from the 17th century by Dutch sailors between journeys. The slip was filled in 1835, and it then became Jeanette Park in 1884, dedicated to the ill-fated The Jeanette ship of the Arctic expedition.[4] Horticulturist Samuel Parsons Jr. was responsible for laying out the garden in 1886.

By the mid-20th century, city planner Robert Moses had rebuilt the park with "horseshoe pitches and tennis, paddleball, handball, and shuffleboard courts all arranged around a tear-shaped asphalt plaza with a flagpole". Paul Friedberg was commissioned to redesign the land in 1971, to which he added the amphitheater fountain.

In 1982, plans were unveiled to redevelop the land into a memorial, and the architects Peter Wormser and William Fellows, and the writer Joseph Ferrandino won a competition to design it. Businessman Donald Trump donated $1 million to build the memorial in 1983. It was dedicated in 1985 by then-Mayor Edward I. Koch to honor the 1,741 citizens of the city who died during the Vietnam War and the 250,000 men and women who served between 1964 and 1975.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani rededicated the plaza on November 9, 2001, following the September 11, 2001, attacks, as it underwent a $7 million restoration. A new ceremonial entrance was added providing access from Water Street to South Street and a black granite fountain placed at the center. The "Walk of Honor" contains 12 polished granite pylons with the names of all 1,741 people who died.

In the future, the park may be the site of a Second Avenue Subway station entrance at a station under Hanover Square.

Good point...Trump has better military creds than Cruz. Neither served, but Trump at least cares about vets.

1997?

I bet you can go back to 1957 and find something even worse?

Yea, I guess you could put it that way. The way women were back then, most guys were ‘tunnel rats’.

Nothing says caring about vets like taking in 6 million of citizens’ money and then stuffing it into your own iteration of the Trump Clinton Crime Foundation.....

Vietnam was a disaster. The US had no business getting involved in France’s mess. There were no US interests being threatened.

“Draft Dodger”, whether Trump or anyone had a rational reason or not to defer, is a needlessly dirty word. The US is not, and should not, be the world’s police force.

So, here we have Trump comparing himself to real warriors because sleeping around promiscuously and risking getting a sexual disease made him “a great and very brave soldier.” That’s pretty vile.

Most who had a deferment in the 60’s went to college and did a lot of sleeping around .That’s my point. Got a problem with that?Women didn’t need deferments.

I agree with you. A person’s character is important also. At least I thought that’s what people on FR believed.

You're a pompous fingerpointing prat, Ellie.

You know nothing of what happened inside Trump's marriages and won't even acknowledge his ex wives think the world of him.

Where’s your proof that he pocketed the money?? Because he is not having a parade or rally for every check he writes? When he WAS doing that, idiots like you criticized him.

The list of recipients are on his website. Until you start hearing complaints from them, then assume it’s been paid.
